  1. Hi Guys,

Thanks to everyone for their in put! I've done some research on backpacks and know exactly what I should be looking for, so I will be venturing out to our local hiking store and buy a backpack here instead of in Thailand. I have also contacted a few tattoo artists and denists. most of the dentists I've come across on the internet say they charge 700 to 1000 Bhat, which is still cheaper then here. I don't know, maybe I would have a better time finding a cheaper dentist if I go and look around myself? the problem with that is that I don't want to be spending too much time looking for dentists or tattoo artists as I would want to be in the sun and on the beach (you would know why if you know what kind of a winter we've been having! ;-) ) and then there is also the likelyhood of having to wait to get an appointment. so any suggestions on that? should I just go for the first or second I find because there's a waiting period?

@PoorSucker. 200 DKK is not the same as 200 THB. I wouldn't be asking about prices in Thailand if I was willing the pay the same in Denmark. of course certain things like tattoos and backpacks I'm willing to pay more.

I tried to contact Jimmy Wong but my email bounced back. personally, if this guy is as good as the others, why should I pay him more just because he's famous in Thailand? I've seen some work from an artist called Poo from Saklai Studio at the Siam Square, she has some really good stuff. other artists I've contacted are Eak Tattoo on Kao San Road, Boy on Kao San Road and Bangkok Tattoo on Big C department store. I have my own design that I've sent and asked them if they could make it. my question here is to ask if anyone has any experience with any of these artists or if you know which one's the best and cleanist. you could number list them, as in who's number 1 and so on. I'm going to Thailand in less then a month, so hopefully someone can give me a heads up on this. thanks so much!!!

  2. Hi,

I'm going to be travelling to Thailand for the first time next month so I am planning to shop for anything and everything over there that is usually expensive here (Denmark). so if anyone could give me an estimate on the following questions would be brilliant!

I'm thinking of getting a tattoo, but as I would be tanning and being in the water most of the time I'm in Thailand, I would like to get the tattoo about a day before I leave. something not too big and something that doesn't take too much time. so my question on this is how much do tattoos usually cost in thailand and is it safe/clean to get them done there or would I be better off paying way more and doing it back home?

While being in Thailand I would also like to visit the dentist to get my teeth cleaned and maybe whitened but not too sure of the last one as I've heard they usually whiten teeth to the extend that they look fake? what's the usual price (in baht) for just teeth cleaning?

Last one. As I would basically be travelling with hardly anything on my way to Thailand and buy whatever I need over there, I thought I would buy one of those hard plastic cabin trolley luggage (for weekend trips) and a 60/65 L backpack. now I have read that I shouldn't buy a backpack in Thailand because they're usually knock offs and not good quality, after this trip to Thailand (where I will be for 3 weeks) I plan to go on a long backpacking trip in the autumn and plan to do more backpacking trips in the future, so I'd like a backpack that's sturdy and one that will last a long long time, I'm willing to pay a fair amount of money on this and get a real, known or branded company backpack, still hoping though that it would be cheaper then in Denmark otherwise it really makes no sense to buy one there.

I really hope I can get some help on these. thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who has any info for me!

  3. Hi,

I'm going to be travelling to Thailand for the first time next month so I am planning to shop for anything and everything over there that is usually expensive here (Denmark). Now I'm looking into finding a pair of headphones that has good sound quality but also that it doesn't have to be too loud for me to enjoy my music but at the same time not be able to hear people talking etc. it doesn't have to be anything fancy and I would like it to be somewhat cheap. If possible something less then 600 baht but not really more then that. so if anyone has any idea of which shopping malls or markets I should go to would be great, of course I would rather pay more then buy a cheap pair which are a knock off. thanks!!
