  1. Why don't you just come here on a normal 1 entry tourist visa 60 +30 and then make a visa run at the end of that to Laos and get a double entry tourist visa. Then you can avoid all the hassle of meeting your consulate requirements.

Now that was a fresh idea!

This may in fact be the best solution for me!

How hard/easy is it to get the 'Double entry tourist visa' from Laos? (can one even get a triple?)

What do I need and what do I need to do?

  2. (Nationality: Swedish, Age: 33)

I'm about to apply for a 'Tourist Visa - Triple entry'...

In order to get a triple entry visa, the embassy in Sweden asks me to provide 3 x in/outwards-tickets (in other words tickets for visa-runs plus a "final" outwards ticket):

    Ticket in

    60+30 days

    Ticket out

    Ticket in

    60+30 days

    Ticket out

    Ticket in

    60+30

    Ticket out

1: Where can I buy cheap visa-runs online so I can get/print tickets to show the embassy?

2: Does it matter if I the visa-runs are by land or by flight?

(I've heard non-confirmed rumors about the tickets having to be by flight to get 60 new days rather than 14days)

  3. 1: Which is the best way to find a cheap apartment for long-time renting in Thailand?

2: Is it generally more expensive when looking on web?

3: Is there some kind of "apartment-agencies" (not sure of the proper word) keeping lists of available places, and if so, how do they work?

4: Let's say one sees a building with apartments on a location one would like to stay, how do one go about to find out if there are any available apartments in that building?

In my case its leaning towards 1-2 months at a time (to see if I like the place) in either HuaHin, KohSamui or Phuket. (Preferably not far from the beach)

5: Do you know of any websites where I can browse for available apartments(or even cheap houses?) in those areas?

  4. Interesting answers, thanks you guys.

I do have a "savings cushion" in case things turn sour.

Hmm, yes the visa-runs will probably break my budget a bit at first, but after my 6-month "trial-period" I may try to apply for some type of Non-immigrant Visa, which should eventually reduce that cost. And hopefully by then I have a bit more jobs coming in.

Yes, I have been considering Vietnam until I found that most guys on those forums seem to state that Thailand is cheaper.

So I guess the grass looks greener on the other side.

My list is not so strange...

I work as a freelance-illustrator most of the day. I need internet to check for new assignments once a day.

Also I work out at the gym a couple of times a week. To kick back I like to throw some Frisbee at the beach or shoot some pool.

To watch a movie or go bowling maybe once a month would be nice too but nothing critical.

    And so on...

    Anyway...

    NALAK:

Your post was an interesting read! I guess I shouldn't rule out Pattaya already.

There is obviously a great wealth of knowledge on this forum.

  5. Thank you for the advice fellows!

Have you told your parents about this move to Thailand?

    - That one cracked me up! :)

Hey, not everyone is going on a retirement-visa. :D

Have been in Pattaya but didn't find it quite as cozy as Patong. It felt a bit too large and "strictly business", you know.

Right now I'm leaning towards Hua Hin, Koh Samui or maybe the south of Phuket.

Will look for an apartment, nothing fancy but preferably with A/C.

Other than that, it is food, some sort of internet-connection and possibly a gym-card.

I'm working as a freelance illustrator and struggling to get by here in Sweden...

Is it possible to live decently in either of the above locations for THB 20'000 per month?

  6. I have plans on moving to Thailand this autumn and I'm thinking of which location could be most suitable.

I liked Patong about ten years ago, (not for the bars really but for the stuff below in my "wish-list"),

but now Patong has become a little bit too crowded I think.

The things I would like are the following:

(Highest priorities on top of list)

    - beaches

    - gym

    - decent foodstores (i.e. SevenEleven or bigger)

    - internet

    - not very far to a cinema

    - pool-tables

    - McDonalds

    - a mall or two

    - bowling

    - arcadegames

Maybe it's not possible to have all the above...

But is there some place in Thailand which meets most of the wishes above?

  7. (2.) You gave no source and the information is false - there is not such general requirement for visa information/tickets for each entry. If a specific Consulates requires it that is something that is a local issue and most do not. And what is on a web site may not always be what is really required.

Non Immigrant is issued for O (Other) reasons. Meaning not fitting work/tourist/education family of visas.

"Copy of your flight ticket or booking paper showing date of arrival to and date of departure from

Thailand. Incase of applying for Tourist visa for double entry or triple entry, ticket or booking paper

must also show arrival date to Thailand for 2nd and 3rd entry as well."

    Source:

    www.thaiembassy.se/documents/TR09eng.pdf

I better take another look at the 'Non Immigrant O' then. Thanks for the tip guys!

  8. Thanks for the replies guys.

But I'm curious why several have answered "NO" on the 2:nd, which is not a yes/no -question. :)

    Like wtk says:

"the thai embassy in helsinki, finland requires plane tickets for all the entries which obviously makes no sense but that's the rules printed on their web site now"

How does one come around that annoying part????

Also... "Non immigrant O" - Isn't that for visiting family in Thailand?

  9. (Sweden, 32)

I have tried to gather as much knowledge as possible on this forum regarding Tourist-visas, but there are some things that are still unclear to me...

    1:

Is it true that 'Triple Entry Tourist Visas' are no longer granted?

    2:

"Incase of applying for Tourist visa for double entry or triple entry, ticket or booking paper must also show arrival date to Thailand for 2nd and 3rd entry as well.".

    - I intend to buy a one-way ticket to Thailand and then do a Visa run by bus.

So how do I deal with this request of an onward ticket?

    3:

While in Thailand and I want to get a +30days extension, do I have to show an onward ticket?

    4:

Once a 60+30, 60+30 Double Entry expires, can one immediately go to a neighboring country and have a completely new Double Entry Visa granted?
