  1. The Three little pigs is just great,a genuine treat.

Authentic Cajun food prepared by an experienced native of New Orleans.

    Also outstanding Mexican dishes.

All the sauses are original as well as the corn chips.

They are in the early stages of organization but all of my 6 visits have left me more than pleased with every dish.

The Owner with the Santa "look" is a great character, who loves his cooking, the type of guy that adds to the atmosphere.

A great test meal is the chicken or beef sandwiches served with Cajun potatoe salad and coleslaw only 85 THB

All servings are manly portions and the highest price was 200 THB for smoked pork ribs.

I can't speak too highly about this spot.It is nice to see someone with such a big heart at work.

NO I have no interest in the operation but wish the Three Pigs well,They have a faithful 4 TH piggy with me at least 2 x / week

    Bus options

It's been six years, and i'd like to see all the "positive" changes(beside more Lexus and Land Cruisers) from the big international hand outs!

  4. If you bare looking for bags?

In C.R. there is a good custom shop .

    They also carry stock

It is run by a great Flang guy and his Thai wife

He is a very active T.V. member by the tag of:

    Kandahar

For general bike gear the Techilek shop is very good at selection and price.

You can be sure almost everything is a 1st class knock off,but still great value

Directions:After crossing into Burma, immediately go down the stairs on the right into the market

Turn right at the base of the stair

Take the 1st left,(only about fifty feet)

Two shops are on your right

    Good luck

  5. I recently by mistake bought the thai brand mayo -wow so very sweet !

I usually buy the Tesco brand, it is a reasonable price and the best part - it is simular to Hellmans.

It has been o/o stock often though .

  6. I recently took the new so called " VIP" Chackrapong bus -- C.R. to Udon Thani

Features of the bus were very close to a city bus .Hardly suitable for 13 hours!

Seats that partialy recline with footrests fastened to the floor. If the seat in front reclined my legs were on either side of it..

The seats were so badly shaped for highway travel that one tended to roll out on curves

Toilet was complete with 5 gal. pail and dipper, perhaps just a" Thai touch"

Air con that actually "screamed" full time, but was working way too well, with bone chilling temp.

    Deisel fumes included.

Bus was so underpowered it was in 1st gear for many hills

Three pit stops required for roadside repairs.(making the trip 1 1/2 hours late and the Thai Embassy an extra day away

But being "VIP", I had a pityful bread role and a small bottle of very warm water tossed at me.

On the positive side --- umm-- it was clean (other than the toilet)

Next time I'll be on the true "1st class "Sombat " bus where you get what is promised (as had been sugested to me! -but NO "Take the vip" my g.f. insisted)

    Sorry traveler

What is the procedure in getting 3 enty visa ? ie. apply any day M. to F. then pick up next work day?

  8. Yes Canada is a hard nut for third world visa aps.

BUT I hadly think they don't want tourists and only misfits.

Yes Canada has strange rules on immigation and we see that every day everywhere in country.

The original western Europian immigrants are no longer commingto Canada and are now replaced by a much different group of cultures.

The "original w.a.s.p. culture will be a minority in Canada 10 years .

Replaced in a large part by South Asians and Asians.

Too bad for us" old folk" who were raised and loved what is now a dying ( Or evolving ) Canadian culture.

I agee that Canada like many western countries is way over policed--we love our percieved security don't we.

You have to get o/o western cuture (Thailand) to appreciate a sense of everyday freedom with a lack of control from "the man"

  9. GT rider thailand .com

is o/o C.M.and is a very good sourse on m.c. in general

And yes used" plated" dirt bikes are dear for sure!.

A lot has to do with the stiff import duty of up to 100% of value!

Fortunately 250 cc are starting to be made here (Kaw) so better value is at hand

Although the best ones are so far still not made here.

  10. Never too cautious,

I took off my boots for a quick" bite "

15 minutes later put on my thin nylon Thai work socks and boots and went back to my pigs.

Something felt uncomfortable, more than a fold in the sock.

After taking off my boot then peering into my boot I gave it a shake

and out fell a 10 inch Cobra still alive but suffering from a bad rupture

It was amazing that i had not been bit, I guess he didn't have enough "wiggle" room.

I now check my boots religiously ,not just in the morning.

    Considered hanging them up,

    but then the spiders!

    No place for fools!

  11. Living 20 minutes S.E. of Chiang Sean puts me in central farm country.

Looking out the windows at the nearby deep green mountains ,sometimes with a cloud hanging from the crown

Watching everything grow on a daily basis

Taking care of our beautiful intelligent black pigs, (usually about 40). Every day they are a real joy ,all with different personalities looks ,and likes and dislikes.

Eating new fruit and vegetables that I still hadn't had yet.

Going out the door ,across the road and out threw the amazing rice fields,or just staring at them from the road.

Watching and sometimes helping the relatives with the crops.Seeing just how hard they work for so little.

Seeing how the Thais get such joy o/o the little things.

Riding my dirt bike up to Chiang Kong on a lovely afternoon on the Mekong River Rd. ,then taking back roads back home .Usually getting lost ,I had to return Via C.R. last time.

Going to the five 1 day/wk road markets, that I'm guaranteed to be the only non Thai. I think there amusement of me has worn off a lot a bit.

Making big plans for an overnight in Chiang Rai with a " list" ; Building materials ,Big C, Tesco,a movie, diner at the night market, and a long walk around town to get adjusted to the fast pace!

Going to the very small village shop were the owner speaks some English. He will not let me out without a Thai Language lesson and a big smile.

Driving to Chiang Sean and looking at all the sights, mainly farm fields rivers inluding the Mekong.

Going into the new major port under construction east of Chiang Sean on my bike ,getting by the security with only a smile.

Watching my G.F. Gins' connection with her family and village, something that has to be experienced to understand.

Touring the area looking for baby pigs ,talking (GIN)to the genuinely friendly villagers.

Laying in bed and listening and hearing NOTHING then interrupted by insects

I think everyone should make one of these lists monthly, It is a fine reminder of how lucky we are!

  12. If you were part of a rich and powerful group who happened to hold a monopoly on a country including the government

would you be interested in the opinion of a few falang ?

Also would your group be interested in letting outsiders get any leverage there?

  13. Tried a new Indian restaurant in Tachilek that opened two weeks ago.

It is basic but pleasant ,seats about 35 ,most important the FOOD IS GOOD,and the staff excellent.

I obviously loved the soup , seeing this the waiter brought me another( free)

Everything including the w.c. is clean and fresh.

    PRICES are VERY REASONABLE.

LOCATION: 2 minutes from the base of the stairs entering the market.

When decending the stairs go straight ,

Pass the first cross street and continue on ,

It is about 6 doors up on the right.

    It Is Very Pink

There is a small possibility that I'm off one steet left or right , but that would take only one minute to sort out as the streets are small and the blocks short.

It sure takes iron nerves to take on that venture, but I think they will do well if they keep everything on track, I wish them well!

  14. I think it's a great idea !

To add to it , why not make it a tour type of pot luck.

That is - hosting from the fringes.

    example;

I'm about 15 km. s/e of Chiang Saen.and would host if enough people would be interested in visiting a lovely rural farm village for a great social afternoon.

    Also the 40 sociable

pigs love being scratched and given attention.

No there is no smell at the house as these pigs are well for.
