    Those situations are a gamble.

Don't try to escalate it, pay a 'fine' and be on your way.

It's Thailand and a typical shakedown that happens countless times every day and 1 out of the thousands of same shakedowns get reported on the forums once a while.

Welcome to the land of smiles :)

So when you don't have drugs or ever done drugs, you should give them tea money for their good deeds stopping you.

    - is that Random Police or Police doing random checks?

    - you do fit the profile.  foreigner on his own walking around the streets where they sell illegal merchandise

    - " Is this normal behavour by police" - yes but not by The Random Police

    - " So next trip I go to a country that don't treat me like a criminal" - excellent idea, but you won't be able to get your viagra, dildos etc on every corner!

Thank you for trolling! My english is not perfect, but I think most persons her understand what I^m writing.

I would never allow them to search me in the street like that, they could have easily planted something on you.

You have the right to say you want the search conducted at the Police station in the presence of a senior officer

and if you have a Lawyer here, call them and ask for them to also be present during the search. When going to the station

do not get in a car with them follow them in your car/bike or get a taxi.

So every tourist staying in sukhumit or near, should have a lawyer ready to outcall.  Should have done that, but it would probably just made it worst.

My profile of a drug user (smoker) was a little cliched, but my point is that I don't look like one (normally you can spot them by their behavour and their eyes). The bellboy at hotel told my the police where allowed to do this at black people, but not white tourist?.

When you walking you get hassled by taxi drivers, tuk tuk drivers, massage girls, hookers, street sellers, beggers and indian "tailors", and then police starts with the same bullshit.

And it does not help that a tourist have to pay 10 times the price for visit a national park  compared to thai.

Next hollyday goes to europe or usa (national parks in my country is free, but I think they should charge thais 400 baht, and while paying they should be checked for drugs) this was a joke, but if we did we get charged for racisment.

In thailand your a target for all the bullshit they can throw at you, and when tourist stops coming, they just double the prices so income is the same.

    Happy thailand☺

  4. I went out for a walk arround 2300, and got stopped by two police officers driving their motorcycle on the walkway. They went through my pockets, socks, emptyed my wallet, full body check, saying "you have drugs".  I'm 36 years old,  never been checked befor (never in homecountry, or on hollyday or at customs). I don't fit the profile of a drug user, no tattos, no dredlocks, no fishermanspants, and I where sober,  They stopped me between sukhumit soi 8 and 10.

I was scared they plant some drugs on me, so nervous. At the end one of the police men starting playing with my bank id (small electric devise same size as a 5 baht coin) had to tell him to stop because it can be damaged. They looked dissapointed when they not find anything.

Is this normal behavour by police, don't they like to have tourist any more. It's ok to sell viagra, kamagra, dildos and strap-ons at every street corner on sukhumit, but go for an late walk and you get harazzed by police.

So next trip I go to a country that don't treat me like a criminal

I would be interested to know how a '95 VF 750 actually had a legit. Green Book, are you sure it isn't some sort of reprocessed grey import with a different chassis or engine number from the actual bike?

If it is, then it is worth nothing more than spares or repairs.

The book is legit. IIve had the bikes 7 years, before a finnish guy had it for 4-5 years, and before him a thai had it. The tax, insurance and inspection where done lasr week with out problem. It was not me that had any ads, and it's a magna, not a vfr (cruser bike with vfr engine I think). Putting the ads at 110 and hope for the best (don't lose much money because of strong thai baht). Thanks for all help

  6. After 7 years I'm going to sell my bike (reason for sell is baby and no time to ride when on hollyday). So much change the last 4 years on big bikes in Los, so I don't know what price to put on it. It's a vf750c magna, year 95, good original paint, around 22000 I'm,  green book, tax and insured. Whant a quick sale, but don't want to give it away. Bangkok. Any other place to put ads than Thai visa and bahtsold?

    Thanks

This cost 5,300.but about 2,000 was the special Triumph colour.

Black about 3,300,maybe a bit more for the stripes. I'll try and get his details, done a very good job and I used to be a sprayer.

look really nice, If you have his details it would be nice. 5000 is ok price. Probably find out how I will have it done when I get there.

    Thanks for all the replays!!!

  8. I'm planning to buy a honda vision 50 cc pgfi for a christmas present to my wife in norway (it's the same bike as spacy-i, but with 50 cc engine). The price is very high at 95000 baht (special price, will go up after new year), and the price on regular service is also very high (5-10000 baht each). I asked what was included in service, and oilchange, regulare stuff, but also valve adjustment was very importent (at 1000 km service). I never seen them do this in thailand with any of my 10 different scooters I own there, is that normal to do? They say they have to do it because of warrenty, but they never had to adust it, only check it. I going to do the services my self, but should I skip this part? I never had it done on my click, and it still works well after 25000 km and 5 years. Thanks, and sorry for my poor english.

  9. is there any place on the internett where you can download the paipers that are needed for sale. I've sold a bike last time, but sence the bike was registrated on my dad's wife, she have to do the paipers in norway and I will bring them with me to do the transaction when I go back in two weeks time. She is thai.

    Sorry for my poor english

  10. I have all these bikes (click and scoopy in thailand and fino in cambodia). The new click has more power than the scoopy and fino, and I think handling is bether on it. My wife prefer the scoopy, because it looks nicer (the fino and scoopy look is the look that girls like). A girl don't need more power than the 110 cc. We also have a honda airblade (she don't like it because to big). What about the mio gtx and nuovo?

    Sorry for my poor english

  11. The thing that is really going to piss you off is that, like GirlDrinkDrun said, you didn't need a WP to buy a bike, nor do you need a non-immigrant visa. In fact there was no reason to ever put it in her name in the first place. Lots of people buy bikes can cars on tourist visas, including me. Just get a letter of residency from immigration with your house or condo rental contract. When I bought my first Ninja, they even accepted my 90-day notice receipt which at the time immigration was writing your address on.

In trat immigrantion they don't give you letter of residency, you have to have a non immigrant. visa to get it there. And even if you have a non-immigrant visa they make it almost impossible.

  12. I live part time on koh chang, and my bikes have had different plates (two with bangkok plates and some other plates but don't read thai, so don't know). My wifes scoopy does not have any plates at all (have not registrated it yet, 8 months with out plates). Koh chang/trat police are very nice, they don't make any trouble. Use a helmet, and you will be fine (they will give you a fine if you don't have helmet, but they never ask for registration, green book or anything else). Don't drive to fast in the hills, and use your back-brake when riding down (don't lock your front wheel), and you will live to see another day. Sorry for my poor english

  13. I did the same thing with my yamaha nuovo two weeks ago. I was quoted 400 baht for a bad copy of the lock, 600 for a god copy and 1200 for the original lock (with work). He only manage to get the original so the trip on the beach cost me 1200. Did not need any paiperwork or proof of ownership, just went to my local mecanic.

  14. It was not done by a mistake, because I got my adress registrated at the house of the dealer, but the officer didn't like it and wanted me to have it registrated at the resort where I was staying, but this was 3 years ago, so it my have change.

So they change this in pattaya and chang mai also, not possible to get a bike registrated on tourist visa there?

    Sorry for my poor english

  15. I have a ryuka cruiser, and it's now 3,5 years old and have 3000 km on it. Compared to my other 8 small bikes (honda and yamahas), the ryuka is the fastest one. But like my nabo (who rents out a lot of bikes, and have 5 of the same bike), I would not buy the brand again. Nobody like to rent it (and I mean nobody, on new years weekend, when all bikes of the nabo was rented out (around 40 bikes), she where sitting there with 4 ryukas. When tings fall apart, it takes a lot of time to get spare. And if you whant to sell it, you don't get god price, because it's a ryuka. Rust is coming (mainly on the cromed parts), the engine is loud and it use a lot more gaseline than my other bikes. But for longer trips alone, it's ok. I driven it to times to bangkok and back, with out problems (700 km). The seat is not comfy for two people.

So if you whant a bike that is cheap, and you not going to rent it out or sell it, and you have time to wait long time for spare parts, go for the ryuka. Just to compare, my ryuka have been rented out 2 days in 1 months time, my nuovo's have been rented out every day.

  16. Well I bought one of these 2 days ago and thought the thread needed updating. Here's a quick review...

I am 1.88 meters and 95kg. The Zoomer-X's 110cc engine can cope getting me through traffic, mainly because it is 10KGs shy of the Click. The exhaust note is oddly quiet in low revs but definately louder than most new mopeds when revved hard. The underseat storage needs the (980 baht) plastic 'waterproof' box to be of any use at all, as the document holder is tiny...and also no good at storing anything as it is not watertight.

Looks wise the Zoomer-X is streets ahead of the other mopeds out there, I showed a friend a (front on) pic of it and they thought it was a large sports bike! The upsidedown gold forks make it look great, as does the car-sized headleamp. I got the combi-brake version (all-black) as I think it was worth the extra 3K - total on the road price, 1years insurance 55500K I would say that I was tempted by the Click 125 Idle Stop, but it's nice to have something different on the road and it does get a few remarks at the many traffic light stops.

Extras - well there are just loads of them to choose from already! See HERE

Overall I would say I am very happy with the handling, looks and 'fun' element. The underseat storage could have been a bit more inventive with changeable walls to stop your shopping falling out. They do have bungee hooks, but that's about it. The fuel tank cover is also below Honda's normal standards and needs a bit of quality added to it. These are minor niggles really as I have certainly enjoyed the first 150KMS anyway! I hope this helps, sorry no pics as my internet connection is definately 'Phuket'!

You paid 55500 for a 110 cc Honda Zoomer x. You know you can get the new Yamaha Nuovo with Injection 135 cc for the same price (55000 for the non alloy wheels). Honda is overpriced, but everybody know that. I have the scoopy s12 (my wife whanted it), and it have the same wheels and engine. It's a 7/11 bike, great for small trips, but for long trips I use the nuovo.

  17. I wanted to get a letter of residency from immigration, had a copy of house-book and id from land-lady and also the rent-contract with me (2 years contract). But the immigration said they could not do this because I only had tourist visa, and said I'm not allowed to buy a bike on tourist-visa (non-immg. visa only). It's a little bit funny, because I've already have a bike registrated in my name (done in trat 3 years ago), done with a tourist visa.

Is this only in trat, or in hole thailand.

    Thanks

    Sorry for my poor english
