hello
this is a really helpfull report for the future;
I am Belgium nationality but gave to go back to work again in Oman in the comig weeks
I am missing about 2 weeks to stay more in Thailand on the pasport ; normally I do this from pattaya to Cambodja (going in the morning - back late in the afternoon)
For the moment I am staying in Ubon Ratchathani - Is it also possible to cross the border in the UBON R. area ? for 2 week extention
Is there an agent or anybody experience in Ubon Rathathani
Maybe we can come together for a drink and talk about it ; the more friends the better right.

I fit that profile mostly.
I am 68, married to a Thai with a dual nationality son, house and everything except my motorbikes registered in my wifes name.
I am on a retirement visa extension and not a marriage one. got enough pension monet to keep me going unless the GBP drops to 35 or so.
So far after 19 years of knowing my wife, 12 years of marriage, 8 years of our son I read this post.
Thank you for your concern but speaking for myself I don't have any worries or problems that I can see in the future.
Quite frankly I have had a great life and a good 19 years relationship with my Thai wife and if it all ended tomorrow I would wish her all the best for her future life with our son who I would dearly miss, pack my bags and move along.
Unlike a few posters on TVF I came into the marriage knowing that I would not be legally able to own much and one of the things I did in my marriage was to ensure that my wife would be well looked after and have a reasonably comfortable life.
I am aware that when I was born many years ago I came into the world with nothing and was surrounded by my parents and my brothers love.
My parents are long dead though my brother is still alive and the love is now the love of my family.
I am also aware that when I die if I only have 10 baht and nowhere to live or a gazillion baht, 20 houses, 50 cars and anything else I want in the world, sure as sh1t when I die I can't take it with me but I can take the love of my family.
What is worth the most?
Very well said.
This is for everybody, look behind and think about when you have seen your wife or girlfriend. They have something special. Ones you are connected, this feeling will never go away.
I complete agree with the above
I lost my daughter last year , 21 years old.
There is nothing left in live that can change my mind of not staying in Thailand
Good day to all and please enjoy live without to meany arguments .

Oh great, more security theater. Why exactly are they wasting money and people's time with this thing when it's already been proven worthless in america..
http://tsaoutofourpa...-body-scanners/
I hope they'll still allow body searches since I don't want to get cancer from these things which although might be a small chance isn't something I want thanks.
Well seriously, not everybody (probably nobody if you think of it) wants that dam_n X-ray! What is somebody already has cancer or any other condition that could be worsened? Or what if people simply don't want to go through the procedure?
Something has to be done about it. If a petition needs to be signed, I'll be the first one to put my name on it.
Put me also on the list, is it serious ? these things are bad for your health ?
I am a regular at the airport and do not want to get sick , just because of this.
If this is the case - try to prove it in Thailand it is from the scanners ............ bad luck

Why is he not already in Jail? Prior drug dealings and free to continue dealing? These Farangs are nothing but trouble.....
Not all farangs are the same,
If we make a list of where the criminals are coming from, we will find - sorry to say- UK very high scoring.
but don't think we are all the same. There are no bad people under the Thai comunity ? Or they not all coming in the news paper.
-
seen the fella about_already nicked twice.....and now a third............deserve 2 b banged up......some people seem above the law.
payments here and there go a long way.
its the same with the bars---majority under police control.... thailand still hold the death penalty---my advice to farrang who travel 2 thailand is simple-
---buy or sell drugs at your peril- laws are there-and will be implemented_ backhanders help......but eventually your luck will run out.!!
if your wanting to travel to thailand for the very first time i would advise you to enjoy yourself..witness the wonderful thai culture--visit some of the worlds greatest landscapes...just dont trust people you have never met....many farrang will be guliable--its like no other country.....in thailand you can purchase everything and anything.....just keep your wits about you.....and avoid dodgy bars and beach road in the early hours of the morning if visiting pattaya.
and the jet skies which are owned by the local police.....when you return after enjoying 30 minutes-----will be told damage mister? happan dozens of time a day
just avoid like the plague.......
Completely agree with you
'we' are living in a beautiful country. If somebody want to live 'next' too the country law and they catch him, he have to get the punichement.
sorry to say but I am for the the dead penalty. You know where you stand when you start something like this in THailand.
Drugs ; stay away from it, it is doing more bad than good. I know , I last my daughter in this war.
-
This guy will be back on the street in no time. It will cost him a lot.
I agree, there is something very strange on this case.
They arrest him 2 times and they let him go for 2 times with drugs in Thailand.
Somebody is making extra pocket money , no question about that
Again, Pattaya , the breathing place of evil.
-
We hope for a full recovery, strenght to the family.
Pattaya is not what is was 20 years ago, every expat knows this. Drugs changed a lot in this place but also in the rest of the world.
Worse than other citys? I also have bin around in the world and believe me there are 100% more dangerous places out there.
I agree that it is not save to walk around at night with 2-3-4- or 5 bath of gold around your neck. try to do this in Brazil and you go home in a bag, garanty.
I am living in Ubon Ratchathani where it is reasunably calm and save. very nice place ( like a lot in beautiful Thailand )
My wife and I also go somethimes to Pattaya for some holiday but the bars in the night - for me this is past.
I think it is time to look for an other holiday place in the coming future.
Any suggestions?

These thing happen everywhere and everyday all around the world.
Very sad for the family.
Yes ,we have some bad girls in Thailand, they want to eat from two plates ..... Or even more
-
very sad for the victims - at the wrong place ,at the wrong time
It is not getting better in Pattaya, There is no fear of police anymore for the young population
the same problem all over the world, police has no control anymore over the young generation - Not all sure ..
drugs is the big big problem
take care and hope well soon for the victims
-
Are they able to do this - the not have to follow the economy worldwide.
-
Let it happen - the time of 55 for a euro - i am not mad about it (and I will be not alone )
Probably it can bring more tourists to the country -good for everybody
the have a day yet to change :?
-
I am sorry for those people who will not party during those 3 days ... come on its only 3 days ...and there are other things to do in life than going to party, getting drunk. Even for tourists. This is Thailand and we have to respect .
fully agree with you laurent , You can party every day in Thailand> I little bit respect for the royal family and the thai tradition if you all want to stay in this beautiful country

Bad news , I am coming back to Bangkok tomorrow from working in Oman. I hope it thus not make my wife crazzy , we are planning to go shopping in Pratunam.
We can not stop doing what we are normally doing. we will not give up living for some others believe.

with the salary they have. They will find more ,for sure
-
I'm shocked! Shocked!
hahaha shocked, They are shocked they where not informed before ,for the game.
It is like in europe, they have to find something to get the newspaper full

-
Is that really true ? maybe again a guy looking for attention , if no
Probably great love but putting it on Facebook and YouTube ? He not need time alone now ? I know , I was there before ..
-
lets hope something good is coming out of it , it is difficult enough to stay long term in Thailand
Its about time the change something on these stupid laws.
We are all spending enough money there to have some good and peacefull retirment
we life in hope
-
I think , if these people giving there pasport ,theu are at the end of the line.
charging 10% is -I think - a fear deal.
still if he sure want to help these people , there is probably an other way if you have this big amount of money
and yes , probably was starting to swim in thai loan waters .....
ahh , it is and always will be there , the criminal minds
-
It is a nice thing from the goverment - we do not have to break them down all the time
And only for the Thais? Dont forget it is thailand and we are the visitors.
nobody is forbidden anybody to learn thai
have fun on the net

I agree complete , this can happen everywhere in the world
big city's all over the world ho are doing good are targets, jealousy had something to do with it ?
I was working in Saudie for 3 years , you are not even allowed there to put a christmas tree in the workshop or they can put you in jail; very serieus
So, go out and enjouy , dont let this crazy people win over the rest of the world,
Merry christmas and a happy New Year
"jealousy"? - sounds like you are American
No I am no American and sorry it was maybe a bad choice of word;

Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposes Multiple Visa, 1 Year 3000 thb - Sunbelt Asia

I hope they make it happen , the sooner the better.
I am always having problems because I am working offshore , 42 days on , 42 off. Not married but staying with my girlfriend.
Can " thaivisa " not contact the people in the government or immigration and ask for a visa for offshore workers , I am sure we are with a lot in Thailand. Something specially for people like us , working 5 or 6 weeks and stay in Thailand for 5 or 6 weeks.
I am doing this sometimes with a tourist visa or coming in without visa ( good for 30 days ) and after that " before " visa run for 2 weeks. Is it correct that I can ask in immigration for extra 30 days instead of the normal 7 days before ?
Thanks
Take care to you all.
