  1. I don't think they've taken an American ship since those three Somalis died from lead poisoning.

Actually, the Americans and Brits have some pretty stringent ROE's. They cannot engage the pirates unless certain conditions are met. Even when they are known to be pirates, for example, with weapons and gear that is marked with names of pirated vessels, unless they are caught in the act, they must be given food, water and fuel, if need be, and let go.

With the Chinese and Russians, though, things are different. After most of the crew of the Fedor Varaksin was killed, it pretty much became open-season on anyone the Russians thought might be pirates.

The New World Order Elites are more firmly in control of the Americans and Brits...

  2. Strangest thing about this topic are the references to a 39 and 40-year-old woman being "over the hill". Says a lot about the kind of guys that come to Thailand, and sadly confirms the stereotype to some degree. When I was late twenties I found 35-40 year-old women much more exciting and appealing all round in the sack than women of 21-25. Surely a 50+ guy would be flattered to have an attractive 40 something crack on to him. But I guess that's why most come here, because impoverished hookers aren't fussy where the cash comes from. So guys get spoilt and figure sleeping with twenty somethings when you're 50+ is the norm.

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, realize that YOU are in the minority. Just as most men are not attracted to other men or children, we are also not attracted to older women. It doesn't matter how old WE are. Our taste remains the same - just as yours does. Normal men like young women 18-25. This is why airlines hire young women as flight attendants. And sales girls and models. Their SMV (sexual market value) is at it's peak. This is also why women in their mid-20s look for a beta male (nice guy, provider) to "settle down" with. Her time is past.

As for the guys who claim us "sexpats" are taking advantage of poor, underprivileged local girls when we accept THEIR offer of sex for money, give me a break. This is capitalism and charity at it's finest. We are truly HELPING SUPPORT the prostitute and her family when we agreed to engage her services. She thanks Buddha for us. We are truly a blessing to her. Your minds have been warped from too much Marxism. You are wearing Progressive-colored glasses.

  3. Heartless, souless, predatory animals.

I can only presume that you are referring to the punters who exploit the local population and consider arranging an orgy totally acceptable. They are far more heartless, soulless, predatory animals as any working girl .

But of course- in the true fashion of so many TV members who consider that sleeping with prostitutes is an almost every day occurance - you are not referring to the sexpats

    I may be wrong?

way to blame the victims, d*ckhead...

  4. Looking at the pictures it seems like he was infected with Necrotizing Faciitis or 'Flesh Eating Bacteria". It's very prevalent here in Thailand. I have had it no less than 5 times, the bacteria is always present but benign until the skin becomes broken. A small thing like a mosquito bite can turn into a huge gaping ulcer. One of my lower legs had to be amputated because of this disease. This bloke was lucky he didn't suffer the same fate. See https://www.google.co.th/?gws_rd=cr&ei=ZoPLUoPxAaXZigf2xYDIDA#q=necrotizing+fasciitis

Wow - i never knew that. Florida doesn't have that. Makes me happy I am here, not there.

  5. Everyone rationalizes their actions in order to justify their decisions, based on some pretext... It's human nature, even when their statements really don't pass the smell test... In this case, I'm not sure how anyone could state that living in Thailand is more expensive than living in the US... Yes, crap you buy in Walmart is cheaper and electronic gadgets are cheaper due to little or no import duties being imposed on imported good, while at the same time the cost of day-to-day staples rise dramatically...

One factor alone will blow your budget in the US over what you spend in Thailand and that is health care... Unless you and your family are fortunate enough to be covered by a health-care program under which you have no premiums, you will be sorely reminded of the ever-growing cost of health care in the US on your return... And please don't forget that health care insurance coverage is now mandatory in the US...

In 2006, the average family in the US spent an average of $6,400 on health care per year...

In 2014, the average family in the US spent an average of $16,500 on health care insurance and costs per year...

Using the above example, health care, my current annual premiums in the US for 70/30 coverage with a $4500 deductible is $10,860 per year and this is through a retired execs program with a former employer, thus reflecting a 20% discount... My annual premiums in Thailand for 100/100 coverage with $0 deductible is $2,140 USD...

Of course I have just returned to Thailand a few months ago, so perhaps my rose-colored glasses need adjustment, but my cost of living has dropped significantly since moving back... To the tune of being 45% cheaper to live in Thailand vs the USA, while having a better lifestyle...

To each their own, it's what makes the world go round, but please don't blow smoke up our skirts...

I am a US Navy veteran, so I get discount Rx and sick care from the VA if i want it. And i am exempt from the Obamacare tax. I have no health insurance since 1992 when I became self-employed. i have Safeguard dental PPO for $12/mo. I divorced my filipina hostile wife in 2000, so that problem is gone. Currently need 2 dental implants and 2 sinus lifts. Am looking overseas for a better deal than here. Maybe Hungary or Israel. Otherwise, I agree with OP about cheap supplements that keep me healthy.

He actually lays out, in detail, all the advantages an American has living in the USA vs Thailand. I first encountered Thailand in 1984 when my Navy ship anchored off of Pattaya beach. My 3 days of liberty were magical. i have had "yellow fever" ever since. Yet i have never moved to Thailand.

My most recent visit was nov 2014. Chiang Rai, BKK and Pattaya - then Manila and Boracay with a filipina gf. I try to imagine what living there would be like. Too many negatives and not enough positives to make me leave my peaceful condo in Palm Harbor, FL. The slim, young ladies who smile at me in SE Asia (and the cheap massages) are really the only draw. Everything else is better here in the US.

One word of caution to the OP. When you sponsor your foreign wife to the USA, you put yourself in danger of losing half of all your assets. If you have a child together, you are on the hook for 18-21 years of "child support" and will only see you kid 4 days a month - IF the mom cooperates. If the wife decides to accuse you of violence or rape, you WILL go to jail. Then she can get a restraining order and you cannot return to your house - it's hers now. well, you get the picture. The feminist jihad against men is in full swing, so GOOD LUCK.

  6. The part I find hard to believe is that 1) the father's family refused to accept the MOTHER as their in-law and 2) the father kidnapped the child as the mother boarded a bus and no one objected. Really? All she had to do was scream "don't steal my baby" and 20 white knights would surround the father and beat him to a pulp. 3) The mother never told HER mother?? Are we supposed to believe THAT? She get's pregnant, has a baby, things don't work out with the father, so she calls her mom and arranges to bring her grand daughter to live with her. Yet she never told her?? C'mon...

  7. The Russians have chosen an other destination, as numbers show the travel agencies in Russia showing no changes in travelers.

This people know exactly what dictatorship and military ruling ! This is why they will not choose a destination with martial law in place.

The only ones responsible for les economics and tourism was at first Suthep and now the Junta.

Outbound travel from Russian is increased by 23 % to $ 14.8 million.

    The five most popular destinations in the period from January to September were Turkey ( 2.7 million , + 20% ), Egypt ( 1.4 million , 17 %) , Greece ( 1.1 million , 69 %) , Spain ( 887,1 thousand , 29 ), China ( 787.2 thousand , -20% ),

Thank you for the facts. However, I disagree with your interpretation of those facts. I visited Thailand In November. Dictatorship and military rule did not influence my decision at all. Why would it? As a tourist, it changed nothing about my experience. From what I have read in this forum, the military govt is cleaning up some of the corruption. That's a good thing! Democracy has a pretty dismal record.

  8. I have a friend who runs a business over there and sadly all the locals know exactly what happened.

They were killed by heavy duty fumigation products that are used to kill bedbugs etc. There are certain products that aren't for commercial sale here, and would require a license to use back west. The room is supposed to be sealed off for 6 or 7 days during fumigation and then another 2 or 3 days for airing out the room. This procedure was not followed. This is without question a case where the hotel owners is fully culpable but was able to pay off the Police.

To add my own suspicion - it said the bodies were discovered 3 days later despite being only booked in for 1 night - they probably sat for a few days while these scumbags tried to decide what to do.

    Very sad story

Thank you for sharing this insight. It sounds about right. I recently visited Thailand and enjoyed my stays in Chiang Rai, Bangkok and Pattaya. However, when I went to the Philippines, I encountered the strong smell of fumigation in the Makati condo I rented. The property manager apologized, but we simply had to endure it while it dissipated. In the future, I will open the windows and turn on the fans - or simply request another room. Good warning to all travelers....

  9. I'm not surprised to hear this. Did you know a school can be heavily fined or even closed if too many students show up late?

That is a lot of unnecessary pressure coming from higher up in the line.

What's really funny is at Matayom schools, once the kids are in the school, nobody makes sure they even go to class.

So really, "school" is just mandatory babysitting - or prison for kids. Herding the sheep - obedience training for later in life. Great...

  10. This reminds me of Maury Povich: When media mogul Rupert Murdoch acquired the Metromedia TV station group in 1986, one of his first moves was to bring Povich to New York to host A Current Affair. The show began in late July 1986, and while it was considered a tabloid infotainment show that often focused on celebrity gossip, it also made time for compelling human interest stories. Critics praised the show for trying to be both informative and entertaining, much like "a good afternoon newspaper."[8] Povich hosted Affair until 1990.[6]

Maury is married to Connie Chung, also a news anchor. This interview is wonderful. But notice how (at the end) her favorite story is the one where Maury looks bad. So very typical...

  11. I first visited WS in 1986, while serving in the US Navy. Liberty boats took us to shore and 300 cute girls were there to greet us. Wow - what a pleasant welcome to Thailand. I got married in Cebu City the following year, raised a family for the next 12 years, until I finally divorced the Americanized pinay wife. came back to Patts with the Man Tour in 2001. It was still fun - especially with a group of single men.

I was just there last week for 4 days, visiting my friend Casey - stayed on soi 13. He likes to hang out at Tahitian Queen. Also visited Lou at the Nevada Bar. Had drinks and buffet at the Wonderful Bar 2. Good times. The last night, I was at my desk for awhile and decided to get some exercise. So I walked down Walking Street. Had to squeeze past some celebrity "cluster formations." The only thing that grabbed my attention was the "fish spa." A Russian massage parlor had some tanks of minnows and customers were soaking there feet and calves in the water - 20 minutes for B50. So I decided to give it a try. Wow - at first it tickled like crazy. Then it just felt weird, as fish nibbled at my skin. I chatted with the Vietnamese 2 couples next to me and watched the Russians laughing like crazy. It was a great time.

Otherwise, the broken sidewalks and raw sewage, bumper to bumper traffic, cacophony of sounds and smells held very little appeal. Like anything else, it is the new and novel that intrigues us. Also, I prefer clean, quiet, beautiful surroundings - like I have in Palm Harbor, Florida. Will I miss the "Coconut Bar" on Beach Road? Nah. Just desperate females looking for cash. mai ow, kop...

  12. At first these stories were great. But my skeptical side takes over when I see one a week in the news. There must be an awful lot of brain dead tourists riding around in taxis these days. Makes you wonder how they were able to travel all the way to Thailand without mommy along.

You would be amazed at these people leave their brains back at the departure airport. It's not just here in Los but world over. People think they're invincible once they're at an airport.

Actually, traveling is very stressful. One is forced to think about every unfamiliar action and it's implication - which is not true in our daily lives - which are mostly on "autopilot."

I was very fortunate last week in Chiang Rai airport. I have 2 pieces of luggage. One is medium size and one is small enough for carry-on. I also have a shoulder bag, where I keep my cash and credit cards. I put all 3 items thru the X-ray machine upon entering the building. When I collected them on the other side of the body scanner, I grabbed both pieces of luggage, but forgot about the shoulder bag - thinking it inside the smaller carry-on piece. I proceeding to the waiting room. After 20 minutes or so, I opened the carry-on bag and noticed the shoulder bag was not there. I was gripped by panic immediately!

Just then I heard my name being called over the PA system. I jumped to my feet and scurried back to the main lobby and asked the security agent where I should report. She pointed to the info desk. I ran over there and saw 3 smiling flight attendants with my bag in front of them. I told them it was mine and showed them my passport. I then asked them how they knew the bag was mine. They explained that I had left a print-out from the hotel that I was staying at in Bangkok inside. My name was showing. I looked thru the bag and everything was there - including the pouch that contained all my valuables. I showed them the small envelope which contained (22) $100 bills. Their eyes got wide and their jaws dropped! I found a container with some Dove chocolates and gave one to each lady. They were happy for the treats and I was so grateful to get my bag back.

Another incident happened yesterday right in front on me. I was on board the Sun Cruise Line vessel at the Port of Manila - departing for Corregidor Island. An old lady had purchased something from the snack bar. She had dropped a folded up P1000 note. A stewardess found it and gave it to the clerk behind the counter. He then pointed at the old lady. Together they walked over to her and asked if it belonged to her. She checked her pockets and discovered that it was indeed gone. Wow- another good deed. It makes everyone happy to do good. It makes everyone who witnesses it happy as well. We wish all the bad people were gone and only the good, honest people remained. Maybe it will be so in heaven.

  13. This is very upsetting...particularly to my wife and I. We spent many mornings in that park...just before sunrise. In the 3 years that we lived there, we went every day, and saw nothing like this. There was a gruesome murder of a bar owner by his own staff, at his house...but not random violence at the park.

Police and military are helpless against this kind of violence.

I know it sounds bad....because it is.

uhh, Police and military are NOT helpless against this kind of violence. They have these really cool weapons called GUNS. You should get one. It levels the playing field immediately! Your fear will will fly away...

  14. I will never loan money again. If someone NEEDS to borrow money, they (by definition) are broke and getting broker. They will never pay you back. If they want a loan against property, fine. When (not if) they default, you own the property. They SOLD it to you for the cash you PAID them. Lenders are angels, not scum. People who renege on their promises to pay are scum.

  15. The reality of the matter is that Thailand needs to forget the abomination of the Yingluc PTP Thaksin government debacle and move on - they were on a path to destroy this country and anyone with a brain knows exactly that undisputed fact, having this woman at any high profile public event is just counter productive, the shins redshirt mafia propaganda machine is still smoldering in the background and needs to be exposed and extinguished once and for all, there's not much more to say.

I agree and long for the day when a military junta in the USA arrests and court martials Obama and all his supporters.

  16. I love the IDEA of moving to Thailand or the Philippines, but every time I visit, I am so glad when the plane lands in Tampa and I am back HOME in my aircon condo. I suppose it's all about forming a new "nest" where you feel comfortable and safe. If I had one or more friends in Thailand who would help me will the adjustment process, I would be more likely to give it a try. I will visit in November and meet 3 FB friends, so who knows?
