From what I have read, it was the police who pushed this - the hotel was trying to deal with the disgruntled guest. And one got the feeling the disgruntled guest was being difficult to deal with. It seemed the hotel was being unfairly targeted by this lad.

This will never change. Any drive down any road will show the idiocy of many Thai drivers and it crosses all socio-economic classes. The hi-so BMW jerks, the pick up truck jerks, the heavy truck jerks. So many with no thought as to what they are doing.

Many years ago I was on the bus that had a race with another bus up Phaholyothin road... with bus 8 trying to stop 502 from passing it, that started because of a honk when that bus would not move for minutes on one of the stops. Both buses ended up scratched on the side once we got parallel to that bus and drivers started trying to push each other off the road at speed...
Another one was at Pratunam, bus turning from Petchaburi to Ratchaprarop... squeezing a car that was also turning... the car driver got ahead of the bus, hand extended out of his window, producing a gun, which shot towards the bus full of people twice, before he sped off...
And one at Ramkhamhaeng... don't know what happened before but a car came to the side of the bus driver's window, opened window and started yelling something at the driver, ending with KHWAIII BAHHH! This enraged the bus driver, so he raced to catch up with the car until he could push him off the road into the centre divide. As drivers got into a fist fight, passengers calmly left the bus and went off to bus stop nearby. That was around the Rajamangala stadium...
Above happened like 15-20 years ago. I thought bus drivers' habits would have improved, but seems some things never change. Maybe 1000 baht fines are not the solution that changes behaviour.
The number 8 bus drivers are renowned for their atrocious driving. I was on a number 8 a few months ago where the conductor was knocked to the floor by the weaving in and out, and sudden braking by the driver. As she went head over tea kettle, spilling coins and tickets, the driver turn around and scolded her. I now avoid the number 8.

The initial blood test showed cocaine in his system. The excuse was he had dental work and that accounted for the cocaine finding. However dentists around the country have said cocaine has not been used for dental work for 100 years!

I will not be at all surprised if after this shocking news, the case will slowly die away and NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

Ah, someday, in a faraway land, we'll be able to find out the name of the restaurant and the name of the hospital. But not in this lifetime..

Maybe 3 a month playing weekly. And I almost never buy new balls, rather the 10 balls for 100 or 200 baht at the course.

And this is why Thailand has been so successful in dealing with COVID 19. Three folks returning are identified and will be treated. Thailand has done all the hard stuff and kept COVID 19 at bay. Sure, it's a pain - I had a trip to the UK cancelled and a trip to the USA in September is probably not going to happen but 58 deaths total - that's impressive. (And for those who distrust the figures, you're wrong. I work with lots of doctors and they support and agree with the numbers the government puts out.)

While it has been great to play on near empty courses since the reopening, the courses and the caddies have been suffering. Caddies rely on tips and the caddy fee and that's about it. There are limited options for them if they can't earn and like many Thais, they had zero work for 2 months. So with the only golfers those who live here, the lack of tourists coming to play golf hurts them and I don't see it improving until the country opens up again. And I don't see the government doing any time soon as they have been so very careful. Here's hoping both the courses and those who work there can weather this economic downturn.

I was driving home Tuesday night from Bang Bo on the Bangna expressway in the rain. Idiots were going 120+ kph, weaving in and out of traffic, speeding, them slamming on their brakes. All either "hot" cars or pickup trucks. They just have no idea how to drive in the rain.

They don’t race to the scene endangering others.
They don’t get paid by which ever hospital they turn up at.
They are not called the ‘body snatchers’ for nothing.
The foundations are all solely non profit.
Yinn, you are either incredibly Nieve or your Thainess has once again overwhelmed your balance.
These ‘foundation’ ambulances are a nuisance, they are dangerous and reckless and more often than not, poorly trained.
One of the measures of a civilised society is its Primary emergency services (Fire, Ambulance and Police Services). Thailand needs a national Ambulance Service, the absence of such as as damning as Yinn’s embarrassingly apologist post above.
I have many Thai friends who are doctors and while they appreciate the thought, they hate the application. Meaning, often these ambulances will drive up and deposit some poor sod at the ER and drive off. Again, glad they want to help but they need more training.

I guess it was to be expected that farangs would start using the balcony dive method to murder TOO.
How sick of you to make such a comment, my friend.

Maybe if he wasn't such a coward and punk, more like it. You really are finding some excuse for this? Sure can't see ANY rationalization for attacking a 92 year old man, zero.

So he's sacked but will get on with some other company as a driver and this nonsense will just repeat and repeat. Companies who hire these bums don't really care but rather are looking for cheap labor. Small kudos to the company who sacked him but what is needed is a few months in the cooler - this is like the proverbial "transferred to an inactive post" rubbish.

Usually I anticipate horror stories when it comes to Chinese tourists. This lot simply did what we all would like to do in a similar situation.

Prospective engineers are in training so they can run away from the horrible accidents that are going to occur. Sorry, but the work ethic here makes one think that accidents are bound to happen. And I see China will supply the trains and one only has to ride the BTS to see the difference between the Chinese made cars and the German made cars

Thailand is awash in officials saying idiotic things that as soon as the adults get wind, these lunatic ideas usually die a quiet death. Usually..
