  1. The song that is most pertinent to Pattaya, (It should be the Pattaya anthem) is of course ' Is She Really Going Out With Him' By Joe Jackson. The opening line, 'Pretty Women Out Walking With Gorillas Down My Street' says it all really! Now i would go a long way to see a Thai band bashing that one out.

This one would really crack me up as well....

  2. Yes the price of beer did go up in certain places but is the reason beer went up in price because of the floods, wholesalers put the price up of what stock they had/could get and bar owners had to pay more for the product which meant in many cases the price went up to the customer (supply and demand), only thing is that this is Thailand and when supply gets back to totally normal and production and distribution is back to normal after the floods, will the price of beer (and other things ) go back down to the price they were before the floods, I have my doubts but time will tell.

None of the supermarkets I use increased beer prices at all. That implies that the wholesalers didnt either.

So anyone charging more is probably just profiteering.

Prices have not gone up for regular customers of wholesalers only for new customers. New customers are those who can not get the stock from their regular wholesaler. Many wholesalers will only sell limited amounts of each brand like 2 boxes of each for example. Many wholesalers have put 2-300 baht per box on top of the price.

Bar owners have not put the prices up to be greedy and simply try to make a profit, they have done so becasue there is no choice.

Business's do not buy products then sells at a loss.

  3. Have any bars or go gos raised there price on beers?? I hope there is no shortage!!!

Yes many if not all what I have seen is around 5-10 baht a bottle in many bars, not the end of the world and understandable if wholesalers prices have increased, no one is going to sell at a loss.

Some bars seem to be fully stocked others not I cant see it running completely dry that wouldn't be good what with Christmas coming up!

  4. never invest more than you can afford to lose,

That's one that winds me up the other "if you want to make a small fortune, start of with a big fortune"

These are the factory workers from some nowhere town that have only known to clock in and out for the last 25 years come here blow their money then sit in a bar depressing everyone.

  5. Why did they feel the need to continue the video for 3 minutes of nothing; i sat there watching 3 minutes of opening and closing a door expecting some kind of grand finale.

They didn't want to show the farang being led away on assault charges.

Or assisting a shopkeeper without a work permit.

  6. Why on earth would anybody think that real money cannot be made working online? The internet is an enormous marketplace.

Not doing yourself any favours here Soutpeel

No-one is suggesting you cant make money on line,

My little friend seemed to get all fired up when I asked if he had a WP in Thailand, why was he doing things under the radar..which seemed a rather reasonable question based on the information given.

Rakers old chap you are proberly right......what did my old dad say.... dont mock afflicted, it's not nice, so think I will bow out of this discussion, and leave all the internet "millionaires" discussing their marketing strategies and counting their cash....;)

    Translation.

"I'm looking pretty stupid and arrogant about now, so best I get out while I still have some dignity....and I have to get up early for work tomorrow."

    haha I love this guy!

  7. ..... gave him a cash deposit no contract just a receipt scribbled on a old piece of paper.

Worthless. He could have sold to someone else and just given you the deposit back. Or indeed he could have taken the same deposit from 100 other losers farang investors and just cleared off to Cambodia or somewhere.

    He didn't, luckily for you.

Your either trolling for a argument or possibly from the mountainous areas of the States.

  8. I was driving along and saw some old fella knocking a for sale sign into the ground in Thai and English. It was an old home that needed lots of work doing to it but was in an absolutely unbelievable prime position. I asked him how much he told me and i nearly fell over it was so cheap for where it was. I even had the cheek to barter him down a little more, went to the ATM and gave him a cash deposit no contract just a receipt scribbled on a old piece of paper.

Next day my lawyer finds out the Chanote is with the Bangkok Bank as he owes money to the Bank she arranges for a representative of the Bank to be at the land registry office the next day to collect the owed payment. They got paid back the old boy got what was left and we got a new clean Chanote with my name on the back as the new lender.

If i was to mess around on a promise I would of lost that property 100% to someone else, things like that don't come along that very often.

  9. I'm a cash buyer I don't own or use credit cards and i don't owe anyone a penny but if there is a bargain to be had then I will put a deposit down until the next day when I can arrange for my lawyer to perform a search and to meet at the land registry office to finalise the deal.

If I didn't put a deposit down then "maybe" someone else would of. So I eliminate the maybe because I want this bargain (and I do love a bargain).
