  1. Don't get me wrong. Yes the queue is very long at the Jomtien office, but the officers are doing their very best. They open the doors in the morning some time before they have to do, they distribute the passports on the street for the people coming back to get it with their tickets, they do the 90 days on the special row on the right and frequently coming around to look for disabled and older people. I think that the problem is due to the extra load of people asking for 60 days Covid extensions.

  2. There was an incredible queue again this Tuesday when I came at 10am for the « 90 days bank checking ». I turned back home and tried my luck again in the afternoon, but the queue was even much bigger at 2.30pm, so I went back home again. What is going on ? Hundreds of people were standing and waiting outside and a big « toilet bus » is parked in front of the office for convenience, just like if it was a party. I have read that the online queuing system is not of use anymore at Jomtien.

  3. Bleach... what kind of bleach? I hope it's not not Haiter.

Why don't you use a little of TCCA and control the correct chorine level with a test kit, just as it's done for swimming pools. People don't have  hives and rash from  a correctly maintained swimming pool.

  4. As recommended I went very early (7.30am) to the DLT to get one of those low queue numbers. Unfortunately, the desk upstairs for the Thais (with queue numbers starting at 500) opened way before desk 11, the one for foreigners, so that I got a «red card» (the one you need for passing the tests) with a number so high that I had to return at 1PM for the afternoon sessions.

After passing the eyes test (color blindness and distance perception were the only tests, no reaction test), listening to the video in the training room, signing attendance book and paying fees (car 555, bike 305), I finally got a blue card, and be told... «Come back tomorrow, cannot take picture, broken today».

    Sh..t happens.

  5. Hi,

You can try at “Suksapan Panich” in Bangkok. KNO3 is useful as a stump remover.

Exit from Ekamai bus terminal, turn left and just 30 meters to walk.

It's a goverment business. They sell school education material and some very basic chemicals and glassware.

It’s on your left side when you enter the shop.

    โปตัสเซียมไนเตรด (Potassium nitrate) 450 g. KNO3 110,00 bahts.

  6. Go to second floor of Royal Garden, on 2nd road side. Take the escalator and turn left,... the sign says "watch repair".

The old man has incredible skills and most of original parts on hand, as numerous tools for testing and calibrating the watches.

Paid 800 bahts (with new battery) last week for fixing my Ms Rodania watch - she forgot to take it off before diving in the pool.

    Guess who paid the repair?

Yes I too use this guy .....I had my Tag watch serviced in the UK before moving out here cost £130...two month later the minute hand fell off.....took it to him (on someone's recommendation) and he re- cleaned and serviced an repaired it all within one hour......A job well done .....Cost peanuts

This is the ONLY watch shop I would use in Pattaya! I have 4 good watches that I have had a long time. I used to get watches serviced in the market by various "professionals! they would last a while then break down again, this was over a period of years, I have lived here over 20.

I took a watch to the "old man" mentioned above (reckon he is younger than me!) he took the watch apart and showed me how it had been fixed using non genuine parts, to cut a long story short he put all my watches back into A 1 condition and I have had no problems for years, it wasn't cheap getting the genuine parts put back!

Update: Just to let you know...

The watch shop just relocated on the ground floor (1st floor) of the Royal Garden - the previous location is going to be another optical business.

  8. after 3 days it works again

    Yes, it's OK again now, they probably had to wait for the knowledgeable technician coming back from the long holiday ;-}

Not so easy sometimes to run your own name server.

  9. Probably an issue with the pattayadailynews news servers: nameserver failure reported by using Opendns.

However, the pattayadailynews webserver is on line and can be reached (also with 3BB) if you are using your default ISP nameserver,

or as a workaround by editing your host file with the correct entry :

    202.142.213.225 www.pattayadailynews.com

  10. Hello Chockdee,

Don't know in Pattaya, I would like to know also.

I bought household ammonia in BKK, at Suksaphan Panich, the education division as some chemicals.

It is just 30 meters on your left when you leave the bus station at Ekamai,

This is the reference for it, just in case:

    169 2009100006187 แอมโมเนียมไฮดรอกไซด์ (Ammonium Hydroxide) 450 CC. NH4OH 52.00 bahts

    Good luck.

  11. Hi Waatwang,

I cured my dog's mange successfully by using "Ecto-Spray" - it's the Amitraz drug.

You can buy it at the 2 vet shops on Thepprassit

Amitraz is the most effective remedy against those scabies mites, believe me.

Be prepared to be very patient - it takes several weeks to get rid of the problem.

BTW, I have some borax at home... and ants also unfortunately!

    Good luck, and kind regards.

  12. Hi,

On the corner of second road and Soi 1, there is a money changer where I was able to change my THB for USD's without problems,...except that I had to order the USD's and come back the next day for getting them.

I did it last year before travelling to Vietnam.

    Good luck.
