  1. If you have seen this week's Pattaya Times you would have seen its front page headline 'Pattaya A Role Model For Thailand'

Really! Pattaya a "role mode"l. Let's ponder on what kind of role model Pattaya is:

Pattaya has, in no particular order:

    Prostitution

Sex predators preying on underage girls and boys

    Drunken foreigners

    Corrupt Officials

    Beach Scams

Foreigners who have a propensity to jump from high level balconies

A beach not worth calling a beach

    Drug addicts

    Traffic jams

Muggings by Pattaya's own Lady boys

I am sure the list is not complete but you get the general tenor.

Not exactly a particularly good role model.

Who writes this tosh about Pattaya, oh yes bar owners and real estate staff.

When people delude themselves that there is nothing wrong in Pattaya, nothing will change.

  2. It shows a blatant disregard for any sort of propriety. I just wonder whether those so called macho men who think it's OK to have sex in the sea have any thought as to where their condoms, probably of a small size, end up or do they take them home as a trophy?

The Russian certainly would not have down this in Russia but hey this is Thailand, so it's ok to act as a bloody idiot.

  3. "Can you also please inform your readers that they must never post their passport from Thailand to any other country for any reason because there will not be any evidence in their passport to show that they exited Thailand."

Poorly worded. I suspect they are talking about not sending a passport out to get a Thai Visa.

If they actually meant what they wrote, they are over stepping their job description.

There are other reasons that someone might send a passport out of the country.

Nice of them to pass on the info, though.

Yes like renewing the passport (gets sent to Hong Kong - comes back from UK). Whatabout mothers then? Or is this another sexist Thai immigration law? What about divorced men? Married at time of birth? Since birth? or have to be curently married?

To renew your UK passport you have only to send a copy of it to Hong Kong. The rules on renewing passports specifically says that if you are in Thailand then you only have to send a copy.

  4. I have just visited the Pattaya Immigration office in Jomtien and after giving in both the new and old passports and a note as to on which page my retirement visa, entry stamp and multiple re-entry stamp were, as I have a completely full passport.I received a ticket to come back after 2pm.

Waited 2 minutes at 2.30pm and received both passports, with all the stamps transferred to the new one including the original entry stamp when I came in on a Non-B visa in 2006. The TM6 Departure Card and TM47 90 Day Notification were also stapled in the new passport. I must say that they are getting very efficient in the Immigration Office, albeit it is still quite crowded.

  5. At last, Jomtien Complex has an excellent replacement for The Poseidon breakfast, which closed recently. QM bar has opened a cafe with great British breakfasts and snacks from 8.30 am up to 10 pm; excellent varied breakfasts and if you get the munchies around teatime or just want a sandwich or burger instead of a large meal at night. The chef is Stuart ex of The Queen's restaurant ably assisted by Joe, ex of D.D. Inn.

  6. Foreigners (Tjaco Theo van den Hout) have no right to comment on this 'internal' issue. They must shut up and/or get the hell out.

How dare a foreigner stick up for the rights of humans in Thailand. unsure.gif

I assume this post is said with tongue in cheek. If those with influence in Thailand will not stand up for human rights then outsiders will have to do it.

It is long passed the time when Thailand should have an independent judiciary and a proper functioning police force.

  7. So he wasn't robbed then? Thus the motive for murder was something else? Who carries around 22k baht (unless you are going to buy something expensive but then you can get a bank cheque or use a credit/debit card).

No wallet. Who goes ANYWHERE without a wallet? So chances are he WAS robbed since the wallet was gone, but they didn't think to check his shorts. However, robbery may or may not have been the motive.

Anybody with a modicum of sense does not carry a wallet which can be easily lifted, along with all its contents including credit cards and personal details. Carry your money in your shorts and only carry credit or debit cards if you are going to use them.

  8. What bulls**t. If ,for example 1% of people are peodophiles. that makes 1% of gays and 1% of straights peodophiles. Since there are about 15 times the amount of straights in the world it makes straight peodophiles the majority. Get your facts right.

If 95% of male peds rape exclusively boys - I don't care if they are Catholic priests - they are **ing gay. get it?

It is you that are sick. There is nothing wrong with being gay. Just go back to your underage girls in their filthy bars.
