Not trying to be a jerk, but Black Velvet may be Canadian whiskey, but it's not bourbon. By legal definition, bourbon must be made in the U.S.

If you plan on enter Thailand on tourist visa or visa exempt entry and will be applying for 90 day non-o visa entry at immigration the 800k baht only has to be in the bank on the day you apply for the visa.
Then when you apply for a one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) the 800k baht will need to be in the bank for 2 months.
At this time you could apply for a single entry non-o visa at most Thai embassies and official consulates. To apply you would need the 40k baht outpatient and 400k baht inpatient medical insurance valid for 90 days.
Thank you. I didn't realize it only had to be in an account the day I applied. This is very helpful.

I'm really sorry for opening a topic I'm sure gets covered often, but I'm really needing advice. I lived and worked in Thailand for seven years and plan to retire there as soon as things open back up.
I have the necessary 800,000 THB to open a Thai bank account but I've never figured out how to maintain a Thai account for two months before applying for the retirement visa. Can I open an account while on a tourist visa and do some kind of visa run to renew it until I meet that requirement?
Sorry again if this gets asked a lot, but I've been puzzling over this for ages. Thanks for your help!

I have never been Seagal fan, and perhaps he has ulterior motives with his upcoming films, but I don't care. Good on you Steven! Would to God all who have profited from their relationship with Thailand would take a moment to show such respect.

Well, whatever was wrong, it is working fine now. By the way, I LOVE this Motorola RAZR ! Went from iPhone 3G to this and I am soooo happy!

Since late evening yesterday (Jan 3), I have phone service, but can not access the internet with my Droid RAZR, Anyone else experiencing internet outage with DTAC or is it just me? It's a new phone and I am not particularly tech savvy, so it may be the phone or the operator, but I didn't do anything to change any settings.... Thanks!

Where can I find Endur-Acin and how does it compare with Niaspan price-wise? Niaspan is 500-600 THB for a box of 28 500mg tablets. Since I take 1000mg daily, I am getting tired of shelling out that much.
And I read in one post that niacin is available all over. I beg to differ. I have been to a couple or smaller pharmacies and to Boots, and none have niacin (or even act like they know what it is.)
Thanks much for your help!

How do we track the streets that remain closed? I need to know when Pyathai opens to traffic in the Petchaburi area... Thanks!

I think you can also buy canned Tom Yam. It's so much easier than making it from scratch.
I knew that was coming. Probably deserve it.

There's a powdered concentrate in small packets available but I can't remember the name. The Orange was particularly good. I found it great for carrying in a beltbag. I think I saw it in Foodland and in Villa in the past, but not in any normal Thai store, although Im pretty sure it was Thai.
Thank you. I will look for it

Foodland now carries Snapple Lemonade.
That sounds good

Haven't seen the powdered mixes, but Villa, Carrefour and Foodland sell Tropicana concentrate in a bottle. A little expensive, but much tastier than your Wyler's, Countrytime or Crystal Light (which isn't really lemonade).
Thanks. I have done the Tropicana and it is good, but, as you say, expensive. I know the mix is not the real thing and not as good, but if I had access to the mix, I'd keep a big jug in the fridge all the time...

The purists here will turn up their noses and skewer me for even asking, but I am hopoing to find some lemonade flavored drink mix here. Countrytime or Crystal Light would be wonderful. Have you seen that anywhere? Thanks in advance
Work Permit, and Visa Cancellation!

This is incredibly helpful and applies exactly to my situation. I will be changing jobs in 3 months. Problem Farang's advice makes great sense and helps much. My biggest question regards my work permit. I understand that my work permit and visa will be terminated when I present the letter of termination. My new employer will put together the paperwork for my new visa extension, but won't they need my work permit to do that? I guess what I am asking is which comes first, getting a new work permit or getting the visa extension? Saving a trip out of country would be great.
Oh, and I am sure there are lots of threads on this, but if I DO need to leave and come back, what's the best place to fly to for this, and can I fly out and back same day?
Thanks so very much!!!!
