  1. Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me if the new rule changes for UK visas (family, which come into effect in December) make any difference to bringing a Thai wife and my son (British citizen) to the UK ?

I am working for my local housing group on £18,000 so I still do not qualify under the threshold rule, but just wondered under the Zambrano rules and general changes do these help with regards to get my Thai wife being able to bring my son to the UK so we can be family ?

There are a lot of groups getting excited about the changes on the Facebook groups but I can only see them helping if your partner is already in the UK or if you split from your partner...

    Thanks.

  2. Hi guys,my plan at present is to apply for a tourist visa for my wife to come to spain, please let me know otherwise but my idea

is to apply for the tourist visa(3months) she then goes back to Thailand at the end of the three months,by this stage I will have lived and sorted my residence out in Spain and can then apply for her to come live in Spain long term ?

    Is this possible ?

As mentioned this is a time issue, can I apply for a tourist visa as she is only visiting me in Spain ? On the EU website it states you do not need to state where you are living as this is against EU rules ? they even state a sample problem with the Spanish authorities being corrected on a refusal based upon them asking for an address in Spain ? my idea was to apply from the UK for her to join me in Spain, waiting three months would be no good to us

  3. I have kept my family waiting for over a year,a few months seeing them here or there hardly improves the situation,I work for a UK travel firm who allow people to work from home,if there is no argument about me working from Spain, I can still pick up my UK payments into my UK bank account and re apply several months later, mentally my wife and I have reached our breaking point,as far as I can see,on the Spanish website there is little required apart from proof of our marriage, some medical insurance and general copies of I.D. and bank statements...

The fact that the spouse visa is free of charge is also another reason to move in the Spanish direction.

Thank's for all your responses, this site is a life saver at times !

  4. Thanks for your quick replies guys,so ignorning the issue of my UK employer, you are saying I could have my wife come stay with me as a matter of right rather than having to meet certain criteria as you do with the UK ?

My first choice is still the UK as mentioned but I have got to have a plan B,I would seriously consider applying for tourist visa to Spain for her,I read you can get 90days,and then apply for Settlement whilst we are there,I'm sure this would involve her going back home once or twice but atleast we would be together as a family.

My only concern over the UK settlement is the request for 6 payslips,I would be only applying with 3 months worth, some people have told me this is not enough, others have told me its fine as long as you explain the reason you only have three months,I would rather get confirmation before wasting £1000 on the application.

Spain was always a place I imagined retiring to,I guess from what you guys are saying I may be heading there sooner than I anticipated.

My plan if the UK option fails would be to obtain a spanish visa for my wife which I'm hoping she can obtain from a Spanish embassy in Thailand ?

  5. I am a month away from applying for a UK settlement visa for my Thai wife and 10 month old baby, who has a UK passport.

I am so tired with the process I dont think I could go through the same ordeal again if we were to be rejected, after returning to the UK it took me several months to find two jobs that cover £18600 threshold,I am now 1 month away from having 3 payslips to send as proof my earnings.

In the past year we have spent a couple of months together which is causing a great deal of strain.

If for any reason the UK refuse our application, how easy is it to apply for settlement in Spain,my son and me both have UK passports its just my wife who only has a Thai passport.

We need to be together now,I dont think I could earn a decent living in Thailand,at present I work for a travel company and I specialise in the Asian market,I have been told it may become possible to work from home

so my idea is to be based in Spain whilst working from home with my current employer.

Is the process easier and quicker to gain a settlement visa in Spain ?

  6. Thanks for your thoughts guys, the person I spoke to has told me as the discretional visa (Access to child) is discretional it should take no more than 2 months, and its always granted as long as there is no recourse for public funding.

In reality,it would be very hard on my wife to spend a day without our baby, if I was to bring him here for a holiday to register him then at the local authorities, this is really my second and last option.

If there was a way I could register him here without having to bring him here I would do it in a shot, but I guess I would breaking rather than bending the rules then.

  7. I have a wife and a 7month old baby in Bangkok, since I have come back from Thailand at the start of this year I have not had a lot of luck getting the settlement visa sorted quickly.

As a second option,a guy mentioned the other day that I could apply for a Access to child visa.

I was told that if I flew my baby over here and registered him with the local doctors and so on,I could then fly him back, apply for this decreasingly visa(Access to child)and the visa in certainty as long as there is no recourse for public funds, and if you did it via this route my wife would not have to sit the English test ?

Does this sound right to you guys ?

I will probably stick to the conventional Settlement but im just keeping my options open.

  8. I know I read a few months back that there was going to be changes with regards to the sponser of the wifes income(meaning me),the general info I have picked up in the past has confirmed that its a safe bet to have £600 clear funds in your account each month, then after three months this would be enough to get the visa granted (passed purely on the income side of things)

Has anyone been given any new information with regarding this issue ?

  9. I would steer clear of the internet, whilst enjoying a few beers in a quiet bar,one with internet access, myself and

few other guys were asked questions,by these working girls, in reference to conversations they were having on chat pages

with so called single men, looking for love, for a laugh we humoured the girls with a few responses until this one old man

started getting fresh on his keyboard, then fun factor was replaced with a feeling of dread.

So be careful, you could well be chatting to random guys in a Thai bar via Thai girls...

  10. I have recently had the displeasure of working for this Immigration

    agency in the UK.

They go under the name of (name removed),but you would know them better as

They also have an association with xxxxx court chambers and they have

    recently been

    unregulated for mis-selling.

It was an open joke that the first website was mistaken for the home

office as they had a higher ranking

when you typed in UK Visa, the company played on this, and the customer

    sometimes paid them money thinking

they were speaking to the home office.

In my time there, there was no real training,we were given a folder and

    told that there would be

a test at the end of the week, this test never arrived and was

    forgotten about by the management.

We spent the whole of the second week listening to calls

    unsupervised,one day would have

been sufficient, but as one of their websites was banned from taking

    new customers

there was a short fall of customers to deal with, this resulted in

    EIGHT people being sacked.

Their sales strategy was to play on peoples fears,if a couple had a

    notable age gap the advisor

was told to tell the customer that the home office does not like big

age gaps,if there was a visa rejection

the advisor was told to say that unless they used our company there's

a higher chance of this happening again.

The boss of this office,he preferred tell people on

the phone that his name was Michael,(this wasn't his name)

each morning he would come into this office that had not been cleaned

for at least a year and ask people

why they were there,he would ask this, around a dozen times, each time

he asked the response he was looking

for was greed, people responded with 12 different ways to say

greed, lots of money,to buy nice things.....

After we were told we were no longer regulated they then gave us a new

    sales speech which

included the line that we use qualified UK Barristers to deal with

your case, the actual reality is less than

    straight forward,when I asked of a name of a Barrister we use,they

could not give one,''Just tell them its

(name removed) chambers'', Yes but who,I then got told its complicated.

A few days later we were told that its not barristers that deal with

the case, its actually trainee law students, your

cases are given to non qualified students, who are over looked by a

qualified barrister, who is the barrister, was my question, its

    complicated came the response.

If you have spoken to one of the agents, and they tell you that they

are putting you on hold so they can speak to the legal department, this

is so they can chat to their friends,go to the toilet, have a

    cigarette,there is no legal

department, and from what I see they do not speak to anyone, after 5

Min's of waiting they then give you

the spiel about the legal department are happy to take on your case.

Most people at this stage want a few fears put aside, knowing that if

they do pay this company a lot of money to

sort out their partners visa, here are a few convincers I heard when

    listening to calls...

    * If your wife is not worth the £1500 I am asking for then I feel

sorry for your wife,if your wife could hear you

now,I think she would cry,is that what you want ? do you want to make her cry ?

    * I feel disgusted and sorry for your partner,If I had someone that

really loved me,I would hope they would prove it

by taking care of the visa.

Most of their customers were in distress, you could hear it in their

voice,a lot of the time, the advisor would

be acting concerned but laughing at them by putting them on hold and

    informing the whole office

    about their clients downfall.

The managers number two, would constantly tell people that the

customers from any African nation,Indian nation,or anywhere which is

classed as poor that the advisor should put the phone down as they

are no good and we did not need to waste our time on poor people.

Gold customers is a term used by them, when the person who requires a

visa is coming from Thailand,Philippines or anywhere from South east

asia,we were told that even if their partner were not rich, they more

    than likely had a

credit card and are good to be sold to,talking of selling, one team

    leader mentioned the term...

IF YOU MAKE THEM CRY,THEY WILL BUY, we heard this in action one day

when a man in his 50's

was reminded of what it must feel like to be without his wife and

kids, and how hard it must be for his

kids sake not to see their Dad,this was all said with a smile on the

    consultants face.

I don't know if the rumours I heard were true, but before I left,

people were saying that because they had

been busted for mis-selling,hence the reason they changed websites and

    names, the company was

struggling financially,I must state this was only rumours, but I would

    think twice before handing your

money over to them,if its not for the rumours then at least for their practice.

There is no one legally qualified to really assess your case that

works for them, they cannot give you

legal advice because they do not have legal advice to give,if they

cannot get you to buy one of their

inflated packages they will instead try and push a consultancy date

    your way,this ranges from £350 to £600

depending on what mood the advisor is in.

Make yourself aware of the following and stay clear!

Stay clear of these companies mentioned and only use professionals or

those who have been recommended by someone

you know and not a made up on a review stat.
