  1. As people have already said the coolers that require ice are next to useless, I had one a few years ago and got rid of it quickly.

I now have a proper 12,000 btu portable TCL unit in our bedroom that’s vented through the window using a kit supplied with the unit. We have had it two years now and it works great blowing cold air over the bed, although a little noisy due to the compressor in the room it’s not been a problem, we have been in a lot of hotel rooms with more noisy air conditioning units. It’s not big enough for the size of the room but great for cooling the room a couple of hours before we go to bed.

We only use it for 2 or 3 months of the year when it get very hot as we live fairly high up in the hills and usually sleep with all the windows open and let the wind blow through.

  2. I had it done about 8 years ago at Bangkok Hospital in Korat, cost just over 10,000 baht. No medication only a sedative, awake all the time, no pain whatsoever and watched it on a big tv screen with the doctor explaining to me the infected areas of my colon. No waiting around only to empty my bowels after having to drink a litre of liquid they gave me, never saw another patient and was in and out the hospital in less than 4 hours.

  3. Bought my ranger wildtrak over three years. It's a 2.2 auto and has been perfect, absolutely no problems whatsoever, great servicing from my Korat dealer. It's very quick off the mark and is ok for 160 + kph still driving very smoothly and stable. More refined and comfortable than many trucks and cars on the roads.

  4. I have fished many local streams, ponds and a small river around Si Khui area in between Pak Chong and Korat. None have been very good but it's always a quiet and pleasurable way to spend a few hours, locals eat everything caught to fish stocks are not good. Never been a problem fishing those areas but I asked if ok if I was near a property. Day ticket commercial fisheries around here are a little better and usually more comfortable. Best fishing is at the proper fishing parks that are well organised and are well stocked with quality fish but that is a lot of traveling for me, there are none local as far as I am aware of.

  5. I traded in my Isuzu truck at a Ford dealership, they phoned around and a few second hand dealers came round and made offers on my Isuzu, eventually I was offered a fair price. I could keep the Isuzu until the new Ford Ranger was ready for me to pick up. The dealership also arranged finance through tisco bank for me with the Ford and the finance in my name only.

  6. 7 hours ago, mrwinner said:

Approx 120 new cases every day. You wonder if this reported linear increase is because the number of tests that can be carried out is limited to a very low number. You would think there should be some exponential increase by now.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I read recently that they are only testing around 500 to 600 people each day. If that is so then those testing positive are around 20% of the ones tested, is this the reason why the numbers show an increase each day around the 120 testing positive.

I watched sky news this morning showing the new high speed test taking place in Bangkok, the reporter followed a thai man through the 15 min test process. He was the 8th person to be tested today and the results showed he was positive and the 5th positive result out of 8 tests this morning !

  7. I got my yellow book and I'd card a couple of months ago, I have to question myself of was it worth it! Three visits to the amphur, a total of 14 hours in the place.

i needed to produce a copy of my passport, detail page and marriage extension page. Not translated.

    marriage certificate

copy of wife's blue book and identity card

    residence certificate from immigration

my birth certificate that I had to get a new one sent to me from the uk, which had to have my parents full names on. This had to be translated and certified.

I then had to sign all the documents they completed with my name written in Thai, thankfully I can write my name in Thai.

I have just been to renew my five year driving license again so I thought I would use my pink identity card and yellow house book. I was told I had to go get a health certificate from the doctor first? I did the eye and reaction test then the video and was given a two year license, I asked why I could not have a five year license again and they said the details have changed and I have to start again!!!

was it worth getting the yellow book? I have yet to be convinced.
