  1. Buy earplugs!

I often feel I'm not living in the same Thailand as everyone else, no issues with noise, soi dogs, iffy neighbours etc.

We are in a village within 1 hour of Bangkok CBD (I commute every day) the only noise issue (if you can call it that) is the roosters going off at 5AM (including ours).

OK, we do occasionally get temple noises from weddings and funerals etc, but since we get invited not exactly a problem. Oh, and the dance club over the river is audible when the wind is wrong.

Right now it's 6.50PM on a Sunday, what can I hear? Aircraft flying in to Swampy and DMK, frogs, jinjoks, the wind noise from my fan, stuff all else.

EDIT Just heard a dog bark, it's stopped now.

Totally agree, I live in a very large condo complex in Bangkok, 9 years here now, and never had a problem with noise. Was much worse in Sydney where I hail from.

Methinks the OP is either a troll or one of those (and seems to be an disproportionate number on TV) people who bring problems on themself.

  2. And so, will any punishment be doled out to the security officers for wrongful death? Oh, silly me, this is Thailand, so of course not.

Why do you hold Thailand to a higher standard than the rest of the world, besides your obvious hatred of Thailand.

Were the anti-terrorist police in England punished when they gunned down an innocent B unarmed Brazilian citizen on the London subway? No!

Are the USA commanders who order drone strikes that hit wrong targets and kill innocent civilians punished? No!

I truly hope they learn from the mistake, but just like most other countries and there anti-insurgency forces that's unlikely.

  3. Ang Thong police superintendent Colonel Chutrakool Yosmadee said he would review the report from social workers before drawing a conclusion on charging and prosecuting the boy.

What the hell does a social worker have to do with charging someone who rapes an eight year old child? The charges or lack thereof will probably rely on the usual money factor.

My god, first post in the list is the usual anti-Thai rhetoric and pulls out the usual urban myth that all events involving Thai police are corrupt and involve money. Had, and known several people who have had, dealings with Thai police on several different types of matters, and the only ones that included some payment to police were traffic related, and even then not always.

In western countries crimes involving underage participants will have social workers, and often psychiatrists, involved, and their reports will help decide how charges proceed and the outcome in court. But don't let that stop some ignorant TV posters.

  4. Yes, racism is in fact quite natural here. There is racism even among the same races in Asia.

After 13 years of marriage, my sister in law still refers to me as "farang" and does not consider me a part of the family. I don't think she even knows my name. I live within a few feet of her, and we have not spoken a single word to each other in well over a year. This sort of thing is normal in Asia. So much for Buddhism and the enlightened state here in Thailand. Just because it's a Buddhist country doesn't mean that everybody in the country has reaching the enlightened state, of course. Very few ever do. Like most religion, Buddhism isn't practiced as it should be, as spiritual awakening and enlightenment, but is instead reduced to Dogma, useless prayer and worshipping idols, and sheer nonsense.

This rest room fiasco at the White Temple does not surprise me in the least.

They have had a problem with Chinese tourists making a awful mess in the toilets. I would say they are being Nice to them giving them their own toilet, while Thais and other nationalities, including 'farangs', use the other ones. They could have just banned them from using the toilets period.

But what has that got to do with your sister-in-law being pissed at the unwanted advances of a middle aged arrogant farang, namely you?

  5. This was the guy, who according to the RTP fell of a cliff 50 meters into sea and drowned.

Despite the 50 meter fall, there was not a scratch on his body!!

Another fine piece of investigative work by the RTP!!

Or in other words, another case of sweeping under the carpet, what really happened!!

So there is a cover-up because he had no "scratches", OK.

From the article you didn't even bother to read:

"He said: There were some bruises on his face. He could have fell, bumped, or been assaulted. From a pathologists point of view, his injuries are not from an assault but I cant rule it out.

He said a lot of the injuries had occurred after his death."

And right on cue comes our resident (possibly quite literally) Koh Tao apologist.

And why are they an apologist for quoting what was really said rather than the lies and supposition you and the other Thai haters use???

  6. Of COURSE enhanced interrogations produced successful results. They led to Bin Ladin being caught. Trying to pretend otherwise is idiotic. The only real argument is whether it is ethical to torture terrorist murderers to prevent more attacks on innocent civilians.

What utter garbage. It's well documented, hence the Directors careful words, that enhanced torture techniques did not provide good information, in fact the opposite. It's also documented that many of the tortured detainees were innocent, not murdering terrorists.

  7. Sad, but unsurprising. This is a country which turns tragedy into a tourist attraction: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burma_Railway

And cannot even commemorate properly the thousands of Thais who died at the hands of their Japanese oppressors.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" - George Santayana

You may be a bit mixed up. The Thais were on the Japanese side and even went so far as to provide surveyors for the Japan railroads in Thailand. Thailand was Japan's only voluntary ally during WWII.

Much as I think the poster was wrong as both Australia and Britain have encouraged and financed the 'death railway', you also fail to acknowledge the thousands of Thais who were members of the the resistance and died at the hands of the Japanese. One of their honored leaders became PM after the war.

  8. Seen the "suits" on important Thai people ? TV announcers, celebrities, politicians ? Suggest a little longer commute, beginning at the airport and ending at Saville Row ! ( London )

And I almost thought the racist anti-Thai TV posters were having a break..but no you are still here

  9. No comment on where is best, each to their own,I personally Happy with living and working in BKK with my Thai wife of 8 yrs marriage and our 2 kids.

In respect if spouse visa, my wife's took 2 weeks. Make sure everything is filled out correctly, if they ask for three references give them 6 (and some from 'respected' persons eg. Manager, principal, etc), give them many photos with a clear timeline, make up a plausible story of how u met which doesn't include a bar (I don't care at all, and they don't care as long as you don't tell them). In other words prepare a well worded thorough application and it will go quick.

  10. Why did you do that, mate? I think it's well known these girls all have a Thai guy in their back pocket and at least two of us on the go until one of em commits.

Anyway, I don't know if the police are taking her seriously or if you've committed any crime. But if they are and if you did, then they would not necessarily come looking for you. An arranged meeting is easier after all. Let's just hope they're really cops and not a couple guys waiting to sack ya. As a matter of fact, I might just skip that meeting all together and let the money go. The cops are probably gonna want some of that cash anyway, but I doubt they'll issue a warrant for some FB nonsense.

What a load of drivel from a complete fool and obvious racist.

To generalize that all Thai women who have a farang husband or boyfriend are cheating and have other 'boyfriend is not only absurd and an insult to the thousands of Thai women and farang men in long loving and monogamous relationships.

    U are gutter trash.

So sending garbage down the river or up in the air is still ok.

This is the holiday I hate the most in Thailand right after Songkran. Too many people polluting the rivers and klongs.

Two important events in Thai culture and tradition., so why did u stay here, you obviously don't fit in.

But then you probably complained non-stop about everything where you come from too.
