Having read the initial posting I would advise you putting off your visit to LOS as you obviously have not thought this through.

Sounds like you will be living like a Thai, best of luck.

To have a comfortable life you will need 50-60,000 baht a month.

Me - I had no property, no pension, gave away all my possessions and have only a small amount of savings as a safety net. For me, minimal money if no problem as I don't have material aspirations. However I am still looking for that life-time partner who shares my values - gotta be careful!

    The best of luck!

    Also best of luck.

  2. My wife's uncle just borrowed 900,000 with zero downpayment with a term of 25 years. He is 51 years old and I am very happy that he is able to get a new property to live in. By for godsake, how is he every going to pay this off. He is going to retire in 14 years maximum and then who will pay? The next generation no doubt. If his salary is one cent more than 20,000 bht i will be surprised.

You will or his daughter who will get it from a stupid foriegner.

1997, yes let it happen again, good for us, the baht will half in value, I have been waiting now for a year, another 18mths and we will see. Cash is King.

I bought a bike in the UK about 18mnths ago, Quantas hand carried it onto the plane, Cargo as it would not go down the con belt. It was brand new and boxed. Walked through customs with it on the bottom of the suitcase trolley, suitcases on top.

They looked but could not be bothered to stop me at Don Muang, I had the reciept on me just in case.

Forget the 2000 baht bikes if you are a serious cyclist, bring your bike and see how it goes. If it is 10yrs old tie some string on it and some old tape, they wont bother you. Probably give you a blanket price for the whole lot anyway.

LOS lighten up, welcome to Thailand.

May I say what an excellent subject matter and excellent posts to back it up.

Yes I too am amazed at the level of spending by Thai and Foriegners, house prices are/is getting rediculous, it will end in tears very soon.

Always laugh when touring, stop at a village and have a chat with the locals, sooner or later a woman will come out of a corrugated iron shack wearing a 3 b gold neckless.

    Amazing Thailand :o

There are too many people who have commited fraud in there respective home country's then come-over here. Thailand really needs people like this.

In short go back, get a job and pay off the debt, get your self respect back. You wont earn money here to pay off the debt, just spend what cash you have on booze and hookers.

Many people have credit cards, I am one of them, the reason the fees and interest is at the level it is, because of people like you.

No sympathy here, did you honestly think that people would aid your scam?

  6. You will find loads of Estate Agents in this mag, I could give you Estate Agents and personnal numbers if you like, but would hate to be accused of favourtism.

Hope all works out for you, the market is high at the moment.

Love E Mail is stretching the point I think.

Only just got back from Samui, I was in Pattaya the same time as one of your drinkies and had every intention of turning up but got sidetracked by a Lovelycutie, I was on my own if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately the footie is in full swing otherwise I would have made the trip to BKK. Next time though, can be sure will be a conversational piece.

Please dont get carried away, I E Mailed the guy from one of his posts and met up with him. I was surprised to find that I had seen him before as he is one of those larger than life characters.

Did not mean anything about the golf or the CRV, just put it in so other people in the locality would know who I was talking about. Have seen the name Erco in a few posts therefore my imagination got the better of me.

Erco and Chaamman are the same he told me that himself, he said he had a good laugh but did not realise people would take it so seriously. He thought they were having a laugh also.

He can now be found on Stickman, not sure of the name though.
