1. All you Immigrant apologists are on a mission. People don't mind Immigrants. As you pointed out, many Immigrants have done some wonderful things.

What people do not like are ILLEGAL Immigrants; you know, the ones who cross our borders illegally, ie not at a proper crossing, and then demand to have care and cuddling. They are given housing, a food allowance, free medical and free education, plus more from a long list. I am 65 and retired and they get WAY better benefits than I do and I worked and paid taxes for nearly 50 years. I say that is NOT fair.

We coddle them and their first impression is that we will look after the forever. Why should they work? These people will not take very many jobs in the meat processing industries who seem to be leading this B$ PR push. They are a drain. So I say to flush them out.

FYI, my common law Thai wife cannot even get a Tourist visa because "they are not convinced she would return to Thailand". She would as she has family that needs her. It really is hypocrisy considering all the illegals that have crossed into Canada and been accepted with OPEN <deleted> arms.

  2. You guys get so carried away you forget the basis of all of this.

The Reds and their party are demanding democracy. That is a noble goal but they should certainly have questions about their party being run by a dictator. If they believed in a democracy at this point in time they would be having party meetings and the party reps would be choosing a leader. As it stands they have a dictator as their leader and they seem quite happy with that. The problem comes in that this dictator has had them do so many things which have hurt Thailand and yes, even hurt the very people that the said dictator is supposedly trying to help.

This dictator is an elite, the very class of people the Red's are supposed to be against, How many of the Red supporters buy a Hotel to live in and how many have a private jet so as to not mingle with the common folk? Do they have limousines and drivers at their beck and call? Can they even imagine shopping in some of the places their dictator frequents? Can they withdraw 600 Million Baht for spending money? Heck, do they even have 600 Million Baht? Do they ever question how a policeman amassed such wealth, and can they even imagine that some of that money is rightfully their's? If they had some of that money would their life be better? Sure they can blame the Government for their lot in life, but do they ever consider this dictator was the Government and is trying very hard to become it again? Will they really be any better off if this dictator get's his way?

If the Red's want a dictator to make all the decisions for them, are they not admitting they are not capable of running their own affairs? Surprisingly this is what the the Yellow's have been saying. Do they actually agree with the Yellows on the idea that the Northern folk are not capable to make decisions for their own country?

I am for good Government. One that represents the people and keeps law and order and protects a safe working and living environment. How could anyone be against that? How could anyone install a dictator in the name of democracy? How can they allow an elite to be their dictator? So many questions, so little time.

  3. Doesn't the PM have immunity just like the Red MP's? Surely if they can incite people to violence and burn and loot yet claim immunity as an MP then how do they expect to hold the PM and others accountable? They must also be immune for any actions they have taken. The last thing the Red's would want is any sort of double standard, right?

  4. I'm wondering what all the charges are really going to accomplish. The charges are against MP's who according to the Red's have immunity. In that vein, why is Thaksin even troubled because he was an MP and thus, using Red logic, is immune?

In most countries the elected officials must live to a higher standard than a private person, but in Thailand getting elected seems to bestow immunity for all your actions.

Can someone explain what immunity is all about?

  5. QUOTE

Chamlong Srimuang, a PAD core leader, yesterday did not rule out the possibility of the PAD protesters camping inside Government House, saying that could be one option though he refused to elaborate.

He made the remark after Sondhi Limthongkul, a PAD core leader, had earlier threatened to march into the Government House compound if the police cracked down on protesters.

There were fewer protesters yesterday evening compared to the same time on Friday when the PAD leaders announced they would move to rally at the Royal Plaza.

Prapan Khoonmee, spokesman for the PAD, said the CAPO order was illegitimate because there had been no threat to national security. The order was unconstitutional as it violated constitutional rights. The PAD would file a suit against the government for violating their rights.

    ENDQUOTE

There seems to be a few loose cannons on the deck. How can they say there is no threat to national security in the same breath as threatening they will camp out inside Government House? All these guys did was justify the order and remove any hope of a court agreeing they are not a threat.

Either you have a peaceful demonstration and obey the laws and rights of others, or you do not. There is no middle grey area. Any sort of violence or infringing the rights of others makes it a non peaceful demonstration, and for the public good must be stopped. It's a simple enough concept.

  6. http://www.spiegel.d...,742653,00.html Thai PM Gave 'Carte Blanche Order to Massacre Civilians'

It would seem credible if Amsterdam could actually document that he was denied entry to Thailand, rather some wild accusation of his picture being everywhere in Immigration. That is delusional talk, and he is not that important. I bet he can come and go as he pleases.

It would also seem credible if Amsterdam had said that he reviewed the footage from the Army and had some problems with authenticity, etc, but to say there is no footage to show any Red acting aggressively is .... simply not credible. I would hope he has put more effort into the "evidence" that he has collected. I mean he can come up with close associates spilling the beans but cannot find any video footage showing Reds carrying and using weapons. Is this all a fabrication or how did they gather their "evidence"?

To ignore everything that does not paint the picture you want is not credible, but I am sure that is not what it is all about. Simply being able to make the statements and have them parroted far and wide is the only game being played. People remember the headline even if the story in the article is totally false. The Reds want the sound bite that grabs attention and the Reds have shown they are good at that, even if they sometimes have to resort to piecing together various bits and pieces to create the story they want.

Oh, and crying genocide for restoring order during a very out of control "peaceful" demonstration is hardly the same as sending the troops to kill all the Isaan people. Again, it not about the truth but rather the ability to say outrageous things have the media and others eat it up.

  7. one thing that always amazes me is how the thai police, that normally have trouble finding their own <deleted> with both hands, manage to foil these plots, it was the same when the army were planting bombs round the city before xmas (or if you buy the government propaganda, the red shirts), ip stepped the police to find these devices straight away as though someone has told them exactly where to find them and how to publicize it.

Actually, if you read what has been posted, the guards were suspicious when the motorcycle made several passes by the area. When the motorcycle was stopped they found the 2 bombs and under questioning the guy ratted out his associates, who were found in a place with a fairly large cache of military style weapons.

You either have very poor reading comprehension or you are purposely trying to spin this as something which it clearly is not. This is simply a job well done by the guards and the Police. I hope they continue as it protects the public from the crazies.

  8. Good for Mr Pletnev. He must pretty sure that he would win his case when leaving Thailand several times and always come back.

Farangs accused for child abuse happens quite often, where the case is simply extortion. The pianist is famous and properly well off too, so a "good" target for those low life.

I own a small piece of land in Patts. too and I don't live here for the girls but having a very good family life. More and more couples with kids comes to Patts. for holidays, so maybe in 10-15 years times the place will be completely changed, who knows.

wonderful choices in Thailand... why Patt? there are no redeeming features apart from girls - almost everywhere else is better

You really have no idea about Pattaya, and I suspect all you notice are things of a sexual nature. Pattaya has way better weather and far superior beaches to Chiangmai. Sure there are lots of ladies here but that is simply true of all of Thailand, and certainly Chiangmai has more than a few too, as well as Pattaya having some ladies from Chiangmai. I can go for weeks here and not encounter what you would call seedy. It really can be a great place to live but as the old saying goes "up to you".

  9. My questions to her would be - Do you acknowledge that Red Riots were very destructive and will you make an apology to the Thailand people for that earlier bad behaviour? Commit the Reds to repairing the damage they did, and not simply scatter like cockroaches when someone comes to "deal" with them. Burning down Bangkok on their way out was pretty bad. What is stopping them from a repeat, especially since many Reds are supportive of what happened and laugh and cheer when pictures of the burning come on TV.

Until the Reds take responsibility for what they have done there is little chance they will change. How many times have they said one thing and done another? So if she will denounce the violence in the past we might believe her. Right now I am sure the Red Leaders are willing to say anything in order to get their freedom, and since that her stated goal who is stupid enough to believe her empty words?

  10. One would hope that by now ALL parliamentary and judicial rooms have been check for recording devices and cameras. People might think it is OK and the ends justify the means, but it is a huge crime to make recording like that and then try and use the recordings to get your way.

The legal way would be to inform the DSI and setup a properly monitored situation and let the system deal with it.

PTP has presented so many doctored videos and audio recordings that one would automatically suspect any new recordings they come up with. They have to learn to work within the system if they truly want to be the next government. Their decision entirely.

  11. There's no way out of this mess than for Chat to do the right thing and resign, unfortunately in Thailand no one ever falls on his sword and if he does it's a sign of admission of guilt. It's a pity the court's integrity has been compromised, and that they are responding by using their authority to go after those involved in releasing the videos, rather than pledging to get their house in order.

That said, you can't overlook the fact that this is yet another cynical ploy by opponents of the government and 'system' (no colours mentioned ;-) to discredit the judiciary for their own gain. This has been a well orchestrated set up, the timing of which is obviously to put pressure on the courts ahead of the democrat dissolution ruling. Jatuporn Prompan and his ilk feel that the status of TRT/PPP/Thaksin is all the result of a judiciary that isn't 'friendly' to them, and their aim is destroy the reputation of the courts so the public will decide that all the verdicts against them recently are the result of an elite/army/constitutional court conspiracy. That's what politics in Thailand has been reduced to, shameful.

Consider this scenario: the Constitutional Court will brush this off, it will become another regrettable scandal that is never resolved, and soon forgotten with rancour and that Jatuporn and those involved in the video posting will be embroiled in a long, agonising and controversial court case which they will lose and be harshly disciplined.

A logical chain of situations and probable occurrences,

What is so right about resigning because some unscrupulous people created a setup for the purpose of blackmail? I say remain strong and go after the bad guys. The sooner those scum are dealt with the sooner that Thailand can begin to heal. Right now there is a cancer trying to take over.

I think some lines have been crossed and I bet it is regretted by the video people. Can you imagine your chances if a judge personally sued you or pressed charges? You already know your decision because he would not waste time unless it was right the first time.

  12. http://www.nationmul...cs_30109681.php

Democrat Party Songkhla MP Sirichok Sopa, a close aide to Abhisit, has continued to expose allegations that police positions were being traded for personal gain.

Interesting that Sirichok is "exposing allegations" and is also being blamed for "co-ordinating" the process.

Surely you are not suggesting that someone is trying to destroy his credibility. It would be shocking if Thai politics had sunk to that level.

  13. I wonder if Mr. Moon will pick up on the generals comments and the context

A general telling the public not to demonstrate....hmm surely it's the governments job to do that, as the army (in any democratic country, or a country that aspires to be democratic) is subserviant to the civillian adminstration and as such should keep its snout out of civillian matters, which is what a public demonstration is.

As far as i'm aware (and i may be wrong) in european or N. american countries the army would never dream of telling people if and when it can demostrate.

The words of the general show just how democratic Thailand is and it is something that both red and yellow should be deeply worried about. And I hope the generals comments are something Mr. Moon questions the PM on

Imagine for a minute you have been instructed to ensure the safety of the head of the UN, which is what I think the General has to do for his job, and you have enough mental capacity to remember the ASEAN Summit in Pattaya last year, would you sit back and let people make whatever plans they wanted? Or would you be proactive and let them know in advance what will be acceptable and what will be dealt with harshly?

I think the guy is just trying to do his job and keep everybody safe.

  14. I am aware I should not be responding to SergeiY, but the point has to made that it should be fair for people to exercise their democratic right to protest, even if it is in the Red's backyard and the protesters are Yellow shirts. Surely the Northern folk are aware that democratic rights are for everyone. Surely with their demands for democracy they would not interfere or limit other people's democratic rights. I'm sure they know what democracy is, right?

For those people who support the blockade, are you also going to say it would be OK to block Northern folk from coming to Bangkok to protest and burn when they leave? If you support this blockade then you are also saying that people can only protest and burn in their own neighbourhoods.

  15. locals want their peace not disturbed by agitation and political missioners

Red cheerleaders will say anything, anything to support their side. Some learn well from their master Thaksin.

Are you a little yellow brain?

This issue have nothing to do with RED vs. YELLOW. These villager live there in peace with their Cambodian neighbors, they don't need some lunatic nationalists from outside creating trouble.

Hopefully you will have the same viewpoint when the Reds come to Bangkok to show people they have concerns. I suspect you will think that is OK, but maybe you can tell us what you think about this.
