  1. Pam Anderson on Sub Soi 2 RuamRuddee Is very good at colouring. Best highlights in Thailand so far for me. Even my UK hairdresser had heard of her as one of his other clients that lives in BKK uses her. I have blonde hair and its hard to find a hairdresser that knows how to colour (with foils).

She has her own web page but you must book an appointment.

Its a long walk from BTS Plonchet but you can get a motorbike taxi very cheap.

  2. I may be too late to add to this post but I have found a couple of sections in Central Chidlom that do larger clothes. I am a UK 14/16. The sizes are totally different but they do fit and go much larger than me. They are called 'Sophie', Simplicity and Estimate. They are all grouped together. Some of the clothes are a bit expensive but look out for the sales. Some of the staff will even tell you about the discount vouchers to save you money.

Lots of linen and cotton. From shorts to Jeans and dresses.

Also an outlet called Portman which is also in Central and in Mega BangNa.

A spanish outlet called Trucco which are in some of the other malls.

I also can buy 2xxl in Tesco's and as someone else says Big C for cheap tops.

There is an outlet called the casualist. Its a man's consession but I got some nice shorts and a shirt there.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Pattaya Animal Hospital on Pattaya Tai (2nd vet down on the right hand side), may not be up to European standards but the vet is very very good. He understands very well the problems animals have and how to treat them. His English is very good and I also find that my dogs were always calm when visiting him in his surgery.

Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow as my dog has to go in and have a cruciate ligament replacement.

  4. Hi again JF. I'll be at Fairways Driving Range at around 12 noon this Friday if you can make it. I'll try and sit near Bay 15 if it's empty but will look out for you. I'm 6 foot tall and will be wearing a light coloured golf cap. Let me know if you can or can't make it please. G63

Can't make it then, sorry I have a golf lesson tomorrow. Only a few left that I have already paid for.

Could make it Monday or Tuesday?

  5. There is a good Moroccan restaurant at the Village Center on Sukumvit Road. It's called L'eventini. The man that owns it is really nice and originates from Morocco. 4 course lunch is only 300 bhat and well worth it.

He changes the menu regularly as he has a good following.

If you havn't been - try it.

It's at the back of the Village Center on the left hand side. No rip off prices either and the wines cheap

  6. They have bread makers in Central Festival. I know 2 people who have bought them recently and I am going down there next week to purchase one for myself, hopefully.

mmmmm.....their bread is good so the machines must be OK :D

  7. Hi,

I am not part of a group but was going to post and ask if anyone interested in playing golf.

I have had lessons recently and my instructor says no more lessons required  Just need to play now but I don't know many people that play golf.

I live between Phoenix and Pattaya C.Club.

  8. post the question on www.catsup.co.uk they have a message board. I am sure you will get the right replies quick and fast.

You will have to register first just like you did on here but I find them a wealth of information.

Start with a litter box inside and get him used to that. Some interesting places to sleep would be a good start (cardboard boxes with a towel in) my cat likes to sink in the guest room!!! and some play time indoors.

  9. Don't know of an airline but a very good company to handle the move is United Carriers.

My friend has recently moved to Mongolia and they used Crown Removals. They were hopeless and it turned out they were using a 3rd party. United Carriers, once my friend found this out and dealt direct with United Carriers every thing went smoothly.

Up until that point they had cancelled their flights 3 times because the silly girl at Crown got nothing right.

They should know which airlines are best and all procedures.

  10. Thai airways advise you can bring your cat by excess baggage. We did no problem from Bahrain.

You need all the paperwork though, Government vet certificate, vaccinations, tick & flea treatment etc., on a recorded vets booklet or sheet of paper.

Thai airways told us exactly what was required. I think they fly from Singapore.

Book your cat in with the airline two weeks before your flight is due to leave.

We did this via email further to a telephone conversation and gave them copies of all the paper work including kennel/cage weight and dimensions + weight of our cats.

Hope this helps. It was really cheap too. Excess baggage is cheaper than freight prices. Paid when you check in for your flight.

Then as one of the other posts says - on arrival go to the animal office in BKK airport and they stamp your paper work and you part with a little more money.

No quarantine. Easy if you are just bringing a cat.

We had 2 cats and 2 dogs. A little more complicated!!!

Make sure you grab yourself a trolley as there is no one to help you.

  11. There is a metal works on the Huai Yai Road. He sells dog kennels. Think he also makes to order

Go past the floating market heading to Banam pur .

First traffic lights after market. Take left turn. This is Huai Yai Road

You will find his place on the right hand side just before the crossroads.

Not sure if they speak any English but I usually get by with a calculator and sign language.

  12. I am a close follower of Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer. He has the same recommendations. He says they build the immunity after their first vaccinations, however he also goes on to say that every 3 years is all that is required.

We are in a catch 22, we moved from the UK with my husbands job and took our pets with us to Bahrain, from there re was relocated to Thailand. Without yearly vaccinations and keeping up with rabies shots and blood tests we would not be able to travel.

  13. There are loads of pet shops in Pattaya that stock all this kind of thing.

I always use 'Dog Enjoy' which is on third Road between Pattay Klang and Pattaya Tai, on the left side if you are travelling south towards Pattaya Tai and you can usually park right outside. It has a very large range of pet 'things' and the owner is very polite and obliging. It is also the only shop in town that stocks my imported dog food. There is at least one more dog shop on the same side of the road, near Dog Enjoy.

Dog Enjoy also have another large branch (but different name , I think) on Sukhumvit, on the left side going south, just past Chaiyaporn Vittee at the edge of Naklua and before you get to Pattaya Nua.

As I said, if you drive around you will see loads of shops, both on the main roads and in the sois.

Thank you so much I will go there tomorrow.

  14. We have just taken in a 6-8 week old soi puppy and although our other dogs are showing him the ropes we need to find teething toys.

Any pet shops around the sell sterile bones (drill it and put treats in) or bully sticks for chewing.

Tescos have lots of treats but nothing like the above.

    Anybody able to help please

  15. I disagree about the availability of baking ingredients.

I started making my own cakes last month.

Chocolate brownies, rasin muffins, choc chip muffins, banana+choc muffins, oatmeal cookies, choc chip cookies.

All the ingredients; All pupose flour, baking soda, baking powder, choc chips, oatmeal, vanilla essence, are available at the big supermarkets. This is the first time I've tried baking, and I'm surprised how simple it is, and the results are much better than the shop bought stuff.

I'm now branching out into sausage rolls (Frozen puff pastry from Makro or Foodland. Even make my own sausage meat, pork mince mixed with breadcrumbs, herbs and onion.

I made a bread and butter pudding yesterday............5hit, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

This stuff is easy to make.

Go and check for recipies on u-tube, get down to the supermarket, and treat yourself to some home baking.

Agreed!, took me awhile to find the ingredients, but enough searching finally got me my sugar cookies. Baking soda seemed the most difficult, don't know why. Next biggest problem is cake pans, cookies pans, etc, but I shall endure!

Also agree, took a while to find all the bits at first but if you shop around it is possible. Central Festival department store have all kinds of baking tins in all different shapes and sizes too.

I have an agreement with my husband. I bake anything I want as long as I give the majority away, so we don't keep eating it.

I have quite a few neighbours who like to eat cakes and cookies so it works out quite well.

I enjoy baking and they enjoy eating the results!!!!

Think there will be a fight for the Christmas cake though!!
