  1. Suprise, I raise an issue about Pattaya Daily News and the topic gets locked as its apparantly getting discussed elsewhere, although the link leads to nowhere!

    Have I rattled somebody's cage???

I stand by the statments in my initial topic "Pattaya Daily News Stoop to new low", they should be ashamed of themselves for publishing personal and private information like that period!

  2. Has anyone any news about the possibility of Triumph being given a tax reprieve so they can sell certain models directly here in LOS, similiar to Ducati, Kawasaki, etc. It was a big rumour early this year but the rumours have died since. I very much hope they do, because even as a life long Ducati fan I would love to add a Triumph to the garage, as they have a great range of bikes at the moment.

  3. I am the very proud owner of an 848 Evo, with full race termignoni system. An absolute dream of a bike to ride and a lot more control through the barmy streets and country roads of LOS than a 1198S, which is just a beast but beautiful. With Steering dampener, 1198 brakes and a few more horses than the standard 848, it does make a difference and looks & sounds the dogs nuts.

If you can afford it go for a new one because not too many have sold in Thailand, in comparison to the Monster or Hypermotard that is, so there won't be much of a second hand market.

  4. I wish the BiB would pull their heads out their backsides and get real. Speeding alone does not always constitute a cause for an accident, take Germany as a good argument to this. You can drive sensibly at speed and be no threat to anyone but jump lanes without signalling, tailgate, undertake, etc, at speed will of course raise significantly the risk of an accident.

The same goes for blaming not wearing a helmet as a cause of an accident.....eh! Since when can not wearing a helmet become a cause? Wearing a helmet is a preventative measure to stop head injuries, Wearing a helmet does not improve the standard of motorcycle riding or sober someone up, infact with many Thai kids it makes them think they are even more bullet proof and ride worse and faster than normal.

I have traveled Thai roads & motorways for many years and have never seen the BiB pull up anyone for driving like a complete prat, driving in the wrong direction, entering a motorway from an exit road, the list can go on for pages. The BiB in my eyes are the major underlying cause for the high death rates on Thai roads, they do nothing to improve the very poor Thai driving culture and show a very poor respect to the law they should be enforcing (wearing no helmets, driving drunk, etc).

Before it is is mentioned I also acknowledge that unfortunately this poor policing seems to have given quite a few farangs an excuse to drive as daft as the locals!

  5. It was the soft opening of the showroom last night, good turn out, chance to get a good look at all the bikes. Good effort by Tony, Don, Manny and the team. A good turn out by local Ducati owners as well, in fact I was shocked on how many owners there are in Pattaya and I am told there are others that didn't/couldn't attend!

  6. Maybe i should be more specific. My work schedule means that i don't really need a yearly visa, as i am in and out of the country very regular throughout a year, so was thinking of just reverting back to a tourist visa, each time i came in. So with this further info, is it still possible to own and run a bike legally?

  7. because he's made a business selling aftermarket parts specifically for this model of bike, he promotes the hell out of it to get customers

RidersCnx, you need to chill out. As mentioned many times by other forum members, life is all about choice. If you don't approve of Tony's posts then click to another subject. many people know what Tony does for a living but he has never forced his stuff on anyone, just given advice as and when people ask.

From what i can see from my local Kawasaki dealer the Versys is selling very well with many happy customers. Yes the Triumph and BMW are maybe better equipped for dedicated offroad journeys but the Versys ticks a lot of the boxes for what the guys living in LOS need, especially value for money.

Leave the stone throwing to kids and just enjoy your riding whatever you ride and wherever it takes you

  8. If i don't get called in for work i'll be there.

Great stuff, Tony? Dave? Nick? Wits? Joe?unsure.gifunsure.gif

    Aldro can't make it.

Keep those good times rolling jap.gif

Sorry dudes- it was one of those weekends :burp:

Great performance Tony, only someone of sublime skill and balance could have negotiated their way to their bed through that lot without breaking a bottle....Quality, give that man a medal

  9. ps. I was really surprised at how few bikes were at BIRA last Monday- at time it felt like I had the track all to myself:

    T

    Great news!

back to LOS on Friday, so popping up to Bira on Sunday morning just to see who's around. My daughters birthday on Monday 18th, so don't think she would be best pleased if daddy was trying to emulate his hero's around Bira instead of being at home, unless she likes chain lube as a cake topping! :D

Will have to wait until the week after to see and try these Mondays for myself....can't bloody wait B)

  11. Honda GL400, Dead on reliable, solid, easy to work on if needed and inexpensive for a 400 cc bike. Plenty of low end torque and can ride 120-130 kmph with no problem all day if needed. Love it!!!! You can pay a whole lot more but not have a lot more bike. You need an 750-1200cc monster bike? Really? In Thailand? Really?

Its not about what you need, unless you have a specific job to do with your bike. Its more to do with what you like, personal choice so to speak. All the guys here have different tastes and whether its an expensive foreign import or a locally made step through scooter, what the hell, just enjoy yourself, ride safe and take in all the great places that are available to us in LOS.

    Chill

  12. Awsome photos and what looks like a f#*king great one make race.

Like "Garry" i would love to get into this but need to get a track bike, so some questions for BigBikeBKK - Are novices accepted and would you suggest a few days with Highside Tours first? How many events a year at present and finally how much have you needed to change/spend on the bike to make it competitive?

Like Garry i own a Ducati but far too expensive to throw down the road, so this would be right up my street for a buzz and to mix with the like minded.

  13. UPDATE

Three arrested as Pattaya Police continue to investigate the Russian murder case

PATTAYA: -- An update now on the Russian Murder case. Police Colonel Nantawoot, the Pattaya Police Chief held a press conference at Pattaya Police Station, surrounded by heavily armed Pattaya SWAT Team officers. We would like to confirm that one of the two suspects arrested on Wednesday who was shot by pursuing Police has been released without charge and is now thought not to be connected to the murder of Russian Property Company owner Mr. Viktor Krishin. However, the lover of Mr. Krishin, Mr. Sergey Alexandrov aged 34 who was initially released without charge on Wednesday, was rearrested on Thursday Morning. At the press conference Mr. Alexandrov, who speaks fluent Thai, told reporters that he denied allegations he was involved in the murder and claimed to have been a close friend of the victim’s family for 18 years.

    Full story HERE

No immigration records and no passports shown at the press conference.............<deleted>

Looks like the people at Utapao were on the ball again! Must have been on a paid smoke break when their flight came in :whistling:

  14. Due the recent release and success of the Fiesta, along with the upcoming new pickup, Ford's reputation will be on a positive upswing for years to come.

Besides, any new car you buy and try to sell after 7 months will have a pretty steep depreciation. Even a Toyota will go down 15%+

I do really hope Ford can win over the Thais in larger numbers, as i have owned Fords in various other contries during my travels and never had a bad one yet but they have one hel_l of a hill to climb

I appreciate that all new cars depreciate as soon as they leave the show room but 40% is a s**t load more than 15%. The Everest was in mint condition but still Ford weren't prepared to offer more. To be honest even the showroom staff were upset to inform us the trade in price and since then my wife has spoken with one of them away from work and they know how much of a status issue Ford has in Thailand. I suppose the upcoming new Ranger may have not helped, because a new Everest is sure to follow, making the model i brought outdated pretty soon but again the amount of depreciation was a major shock and has put me off Fords for life, in Thailand that is.

  15. Why don't they go to Tamil Nadu?

Totally agree with OzMick, they want their own state and they have one, just a boat ride away and full of their own kind. Thailand and Canada should just send them there, no war, same religion, same language, no brainer IMHO. Why should other countries have to be burdened with them, let their "brothers" take care of them.
