  1. Hi,

I heard I can get nearly another 3 months from my visa after the expiration date to get nearly 15 months from it. Is that right?

My visa says "seen at the consulate on 1st JULY" and "must be utilised before 30th JUNE".

So, if true, what date should I do a border trip to get the extra 3 months?

As long as I am back in Thailand on the 29th of JUNE? or 30th? or what?...

    Please help, thanks.

  2. Not showing the game of the round on Sunday between Carlton and Collingwood and instead we get Freo vs WCE. <deleted>?

How do these fools pick games?

Now all the streams (justin.tv etc) have been blocked, there appears no way to catch this game.

If you're an AFL lover, please go to the Australia Network website and send them an email complaining.

    thanks

  3. If you're on PC, can you give a report on MP quality as in connection, lag etc etc. I found the SP not great, so will only buy if the MP is lag free.

Lots of reports from Australain players of bad connections, so might skip it.

The multiplayer can be laggy even if you're in a place with loads of players like the US. In Thailand I don't think there is any hope at all. No way is matchmaking going to route the Thailand players together instead of scattering them across the world. I'm skipping it, MW1 is still fun and has Thailand servers that I get 50 ping to. Gonna get Bad Company 2 instead when it comes out, it will have dedicated servers.

MW2 is much better than 1, spec ops missions could be a stand alone game itself with something like 25 missions to do and the campaign is fantastic, multiplayer maps are easily twice the size from the last game too.

That's nice and all, but completely beside the point DP25 is making.

Still waiting for a report on MP connection quality......

  4. Loving this game.

  5. anybody playing?

Started yesterday and have to say it has great game play. Graphics very smooth and good action with some new toys but generally the same weapon arsenal from World at war 1. Some pretty tough spots to get through and if you haven't played the first version, probably should start on level 1. I started on level 2 and find it can be difficult to get through some chapters.

It was available at Zest online shop, but now shows out of stock.

Also, those who are planning to play on-line, there are no longer dedicated servers but uses matchmaking methods like with console games. Big uproar about that in the game forums with many just canceling orders. One member just broke his DVD into pieces he was that annoyed, even a petition going around. :)

    So you're playing PC right?

What is the connection like on MP? How many green bars (connection status) do you get on average? Laggy much?

  6. I spoke to my guy at the sw shop today and he reckons there is some 'license' problem for Thailand and he won't be getting the game until the 12th of Dec. :/

Then again, that could all be bs... any one seen it? know when it's coming to los? any info?

    cheers

    @WANDERINGMONK - looking for a pc crew.

  7. DP25, yeah.... there were so many local cod4 servers though :/

Calling all future MW2 players... if we can get enough of you together, perhaps we could create a local community of cod mw2 guys to give us all a good ping.

Anyone in for this, not going to buy the game for the sp, nor do i want to play with a > 300 ping.

There are 3 or 4 local COD4 servers.

    yeah, heaps hey.

  9. You could try www.mynetfone.com.au they are in in Australia and have some very good plans calls to Aussie mobiles are 20 cents a minute and to landlines 10 cents per call untimed.

    +1

I'm using mynetfone with a linksys 3102 ATA which is connected to a cheap $10 phone I picked up in BKK. With the DID they supply, people in your home state can call you for the cost of a local call and you can call them for ~10 cents untimed with no monthly fee.

Depending on how stable your Internet connection is, you wouldn't even know you're using voip... except a very small delay.

  10. "redirects", yes thats the word! Thats what it has been doing a few times a day since I got it. Does that indicate a crappy modem, or crappy ISP?

Also, I have a newer problem. First of all, when the connection is working, the "ADSL" light is on solid. When it goes down, the "ADSL" light flashes. If I just wait for it to come back on it may take a loooong time. But if I turn the modem off for ten seconds, then back on, it usually comes back online with a minute, but often it only stay online for only about 1 minute, basically long enough for me to surf to the next page then work offline again. Does that indicate a bad modem or ISP? Please let me know if you need more specific info. I can log into the modem to get more stats if needed. This problem seems to happen every time it rains, but other times also.

If it is a bad modem, does it sound defective or just generally crappy? Should I be asking to have it replaced (obviously I will get the same model).

    Thanks for any info!

The redirects seem to be a function of the modem, though it's not indicating anything faulty. Now my modem appears to be LOCKED so I can't get in to change/view the modem settings.

The problem you describe sounds like a connection issue more then anything else, but don't take that as authoritative.

Put it this way, it you plan to use BT you will need a new modem anyway as there appears no way I can forward ports on this piece of crap.

I only just got my connection so I'll continue to monitor it to see how it changes.

  11. What you can do is use a different proxy (i was advised to do so by True themselves when i had issues with my line once so it can't be illegal), proxy.asianet.co.th, port 8080 for all protocols. Using it usually speeds up the web surfing quite a bit, but some days it is faster without it.

    Thanks, it works now. :)

  12. i never used true but when i used IRC in the past, i was a proxy server for some friends and it was detected on connection on IRC and i was not allowed to join.

i think some malware do the same job, are you sure you're not infected by something or a software acting the same way as a proxy?

did you try with another computer?

    No, it's definitely the proxy.

Even the site: tinypic.com I can't use because the proxy ip has been banned.

    I hate proxys. :)

  13. Where are you guys located? I just got this hooked up in Chiang Mai with the same modem. I don't know what it means but sometimes, I will put in a URL and it forwards me to the True homepage. It does it with different websites at random times.

Bkk. Same here with the redirects, but not often enough to bother me.
