    Hello!

I want to host tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPG) in Phuket but I'm confused about where we can sit down and play.

The games are usually 4-6 hours long and can get quite loud, so this rules out most of the cafes. I'm planning to invite strangers to play and it wouldn't be comfortable to let everybody in my condo.

Are there time cafes or board game clubs in Phuket where I can rent a table for 8 hours? Ideally, I'm looking for a place closer to Kathu, Old Town.

Did you find anywhere to play or people to play with?  I would like to play some tabletop TTRPGs or board games but have not found anywhere since moving down here from Bangkok.

    Cheers

I currently have a non-imm O with extension due to marriage and a Thai work permit from my company.

My UK passport is full so I need to get a new one.  There is not time to get a replacement in Bangkok before we head back to the UK so I will get one in London.  How can I transfer my existing visa from my current passport to its replacement?  Can I do it at the Embassy in London or do I have to do it in Thailand?  If the latter will I be able to get back in on the visa (and re-entry stamp) in my old passport and get the entry stamp in my new passport?

    thanks,

Kajonkiet Nursery Cherng Talay is very good.

Yeah we actually checked this out about half an hour after I posted.  We somehow missed it on the first pass.  It looks great.

  4. Does anyone have any recommendations for nurseries?

At this point I do not care where it is in Phuket, how much it costs, or what language the teachers speak, I am just looking for somewhere that the teachers care about the children and act like it.  All the nurseries we liked at home the teachers loved their jobs because they were well paid and treated well but I have yet to come across a nursery or school that seemed like that here.  I might just be looking in the wrong places.

Sorry if this sounds quite negative but at home we saw a dozen and then had a difficult decision choosing between 5 of them.  Here we have not seen any that we like or any that my son seems particularly enthused by.  He loved nursery at home.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Westen.

  5. It used to be you could pay extra in Bangkok and get a UK visa in 3-5 days but now on the website there is only the standard option "most people get a decision within 15 working days after attending their biometrics appointment".  Has the priority version been removed?

With cases rising in Thailand and how often the UK seems to change the classifications I do not want to plan and pay for everything only to have Thailand added to the UK's red list meaning my wife cannot go so I want to go as soon as possible.

    Thanks a lot,

  6. I renew my extension of stay every year based on marriage.  I remember reading somewhere you can only do it 30 days before expiry but cannot find anything official now.

I am going away 25 days before it expires and return after it expires.  Every time I have extended (at Chaengwattana) I have had to wait for about 10 days for  a decision.

Is it going to be possible for me to extend before I go away?

  7. I have a non imm-O visa that I extend every December (due to marriage).  If I leave the country after extending and come back 8 months later before my next extension is my stay still valid?  Or is there some expiry if I stay out of the country for a certain number of days and I have to apply for a new visa?

    Thanks

  8. I vaguely remember last year when I extended my stay for a year (based on marriage) I didn't have to do my ninety day report because they said the new stamp classed as a report.  Am I remembering right?  I need to do my 90 day report today and I am going for my extension.  Do I have to do both or just the extension? I remember last time I had to submit documents then go back two weeks later to pick up my passport.  If it is the second visit that classes as the report I will be late so I assume I have to do it today before I hand in my passport?

    Cheers.

Which immigration office do you use - they vary from the official 45 days before to 30.

    I go to Chaeng Wattana.

    Your Visa died long ago.

You are extending your temporary permision to stay in the kingdom.

Cool, I didn't know that.  I haven't left the country since getting this visa and don't really intend to any time soon so I haven't looked into any of that reentry permit business.

  10. Last September-ish I got a Non imm-O based on marriage.  Last December I extended the visa by showing the 400K and all the other stuff.  To extend the visa a second time is all the proof exactly the same as the first time?  The money and the home photos etc?

At what point can I renew?  It expires on 25th of December but it would be convenient for me to do it quite a while before that.  Does it have to be within 30 days of expiry or something?

    Thanks a lot as always.

You need the letter from the bank stating the deposit.

This has to be on the day or day before at most offices.

Plus an updated bank book. This will show how long the money has been in the account.

What do you mean by stating the deposit?  Does it have to be in one deposit? There has not been one particular deposit that has exceeded 400K into my bank.  I just accumulated it over the preceding 6 months.  I thought just having 400k for 2 months was enough.

You need the spouse.  And a map to home.  And information on residence if not same as home register.  Believe you still need photos together in home/bedroom (to show clothing together) with at least one showing both of you with house number showing.

I can not find this documented anywhere, it sounds pretty crazy.  Barely any of the houses in my neighbourhood have numbers on them and mine doesn't.

    Thanks, Westen

  12. How do I show I have had 400k for the required time?  Does a copy of my bank book suffice or do I need a letter from the bank or something?

I haven't found any very recent reports on doing this at chaengwattana. Has anything changed recently? I think I just need

    • the form
    • a photo
    • proof of funds
    • copy of wife's tabian baan and id card
    • copy of marriage certificate
    • copies of my visa and departure card

    Is that it?

    Thanks a lot,

    Westen

  13. I have read a couple of things online saying Thais with EU spouses do not need to make an appointment at the German embassy and can just turn up.  No one answers the phone there though to confirm this and a person on the online chat was epically unhelpful.  Does anyone know if it is true?  And how long the process takes?

    Thanks a lot,

    Westen

  14. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I don't understand how re-entry permits work.  I have a multi-entry non-immigrant O visa based on marriage.  Do I need a re-entry permit to leave and then come back a week later or are the permits for people on single entry visas that allow that them to enter multiple times?

    Thanks a lot,

    Westen

  15. thanks. Just realised this was explained on another post I write in but I didn't understand it.

Can I extend the multi-entry whenever? Say I did not have the 400K for the 1 year extension straight away, could I get the multientry, leave after 3 months, come back in on that same visa then extend for a year after that? In my head the multi and single entry ones are different for some reason but I do not know where I have picked up that impression.

    Thanks.

  16. I have seen quite a few places recommend getting a non-immigrant o visa at savannakhet. It is a bit of a ballache to get to though compared to Vientiane (more expensive/annoyingly timed flights etc). What is the advantage of going there as opposed to say Vientiane? I am getting it based on marriage if that makes any odds.

    Cheers,

    Westen

  17. Thanks a lot guys. Very useful info. Great to hear that I don't have to prove it came from abroad as it makes my life easier.

I will be applying for it at Chaengwattana.

As a matter of interest where did you find the information you quote?

I got it from siam-legal website. They looked fairly legit but I thought I better double check all the info.

Once I have the extension can I then take the money out of that account? Do I need it in there again 12 months later?

    Thanks.
