  1. Yes blame the British. They invented this wonderful language and exported it all over the world. Then they changed the pronunciation style which plays havoc with phonetic transliteration (But it sounds bloody good). This is a perfect example of the R and a W being interchangeable when it is not the first letter of a word. Most of the rest of the English speaking world sees those sounds as distinctly different .

The problem is that many country transliterate their languages into English based on modern British pronunciation. Making it impossible to pronounce correctly the words written on signs etc. If you you want to go to Koh Larn (to many it would be pronounced Koe and Larn with a pirates arrh) you have to know to read it Gaw Lahn.

Now can anyone explain to me why in Thai, the Wa When sound (ว) is always translated as a V when Thai's have no V sound in their language, and they actually find it difficult to pronounce the letter V. What is wrong with a W? eg. Sukamwhit, Suwhanaboom... Pretty hard to get it wrong spelled like that.

well with that name in Brazil sounds bad...Vara means stick(wood stick) and porn maybe have a connection on that..so better change once married to Farang

  2. This is what could happen if you marry a poor village girl and move there yourself.

You know that you will be surrounded by an extended family , and there could be rapists or killers walking around your house.

Are you willing to take that risk ?

Before you engage in any relationship in Thailand , try to learn as much as possible about her relatives Try to avoid any confrontations. Relocate, with or without your wife if you feel there is any danger.

Your life is very important and you did your share. Agreed Relocate, with or without

  3. The police will probably check a few folks who the police already know have a valid marriage...after those few checks they'll stop further checks, say the marriage scam rumors were just that rumors, and say all is well. Now time to get back to collecting donations.

I was in Bangkok not long ago and 3 women said that to me..I love you very much and i said yes that's nice..but they did not know that my

    bank account was empty ...

  4. "...encouraging tourists to dress properly when not swimming or sunbathing, ask them not to commit intimate acts in public, as well as regulate taxi services and publishing do's and don'ts about Thai culture on leaflets and in other media."

There are two things implied in this comment.

The first one about appropriate dress is virtually the same comment Prayuth got caught saying about women wearing bikinis, seeming to imply they brought it on themselves. So even after that controversy you have these idiots saying almost the same thing.

The second thing is the comment about falang needing to be more aware of Thai culture. However, it was not Thai people who supposedly killed this British couple, but two men from Myanmar, so how did not respecting Thai culture cause this problem...unless it really was Thai people who killed them...ah!

I personally do not see anything wrong with the statement.....I believe we should respect the culture of the country we are in and make sure you do not offend. Yesterday in the Bangkok Samui hospital at 10am a very large (obese) Russian was walking around in and out of the Orthapedics section not wearing a shirt; disgusting sight. How many times do you see tourists walking down the street in bikinis and/or speedos.....or in Tescos.....no Thai would ever do this. All he is saying is if you are not swimming or sunbathing please show some RESPECT for the Thai culture and wear modest attire......after all who are the ones expecting visitors/immigrants to respect our culture when in our countries.....double standards perhaps. This is not Ibiza or the Black Sea....it is Thailand which has its own culture.....respect it!

As far as i know we are guests on this country and we should go by the rules and respect.Sometimes we see things that don't make sense but thats the way they are and justice seems to go in doubt. We all know that. Times like this when 2 young guys got murdered very bad is sad. It's always amazing the way they run things but i keep to myself and carry on with my life.

  5. Check out the new post on facebook from the Thai Community!

There is a new suspect who is employee of AC bar Nomsot and his uncle and seen with the victims.

    He is of interest because

1.this man was one of the footballers who went to party at the AC bar which is the same night Hannah and David got murdered.

2.he had left Ko Tao immediately and came back after the Burmese men were arrested.

    2. Has stingray tail ring that can inflict and seems to match the wounds suffered by David Miller, and Hannah Witheridge .. Pictures on CSI LA

3.This ring is seen in pictures on his left side hand... the wounds are mostly on Davids right side and suggest a series of left hand punches.

    4. this man is of a size and build that may be able to overpower David.

    4. This man was accused of trying to rape Supannee Deighton two years ago and escaped him by jumping from a balcony.. you can read her story

and see wounds she suffered .

Burmese workers on the island are also starting to speak up and say they saw The headman's son on the island drinking till 12am with Sean the night of the murders..

Im not saying this person did it or if what others say is true but it is worth looking at and forming your own opinion.

The police should be investigating all these leads there is picture evidence and in some areas expert testimony.. If the police were not covering up for someone they would be questioning and investigating all these leads.

Looks like the citizens are doing there job for them..

If the above is factual, I agree that this man could have been involved in the crime. Given his previous, he appears to be a more likely suspect than the two Burmese. Time for the RTP to find new evidence?

BTW - the above F/B link isn't operative.

I go along with you and should be investigate and why leave so long to do it

  6. No surprise there.

Well its looking more likely the killers could still be out there, while the BIB are deciding what to do next,

May I suggest the possibility this may not be such a unique event as first portrayed, others have been raped and even killed on KT recently

Time to start digging and looking for any other deaths, suicides, drownings rapes or serious beatings etc on Koh Tao and surrounding Islands over the years.

Watch the reports of rapes over this months full moon party or anything else of late like people winding up dead,

I reckon its worth looking into, a pattern may emerge.

    Yes you right

  7. Someone else thinking this story may take another twist still?

Why did they find David naked if he didn't have sex with Hannah?

I believe they arranged the murder scene after the heinous crime. In that case, I wouldn't be surprised if the DNA will not match either, but I believe the police is holding back something vital, they have additional evidence.

Yeah very strange .the police must holding something back..not make senses in what they they saying

  8. Today one girl from SPAIN was raped by a taxi driver after back to her hotel from her first night at Kao San Road.

With all the news about the murder of 2 brits the police is trying to mute all the bad things that are occurring in LOS. The police wanted the girl doesnt speak to the media by giving some nights on a good hotel close to the river.

If anyone think im a troll is ok but my source is family of the girl in Spain. Im giving this information to prevent any tourist to get a taxi atnight and specially women and doing it alone.

Unfortunately the girl was prety and as PM said last week. Prety woman wearing bikini are in dangerous...

That's is bad ..i haven't seen any news about. Not really safe

  9. "It's so absurd. It's horrific," one European business owner said. "If something happens it is never the Thais. They always blame the Burmese or the Westerners...Mr Miller, who is wearing a blue t-shirt and shorts, can be seen shaking hands with an Asian-looking man who is walking in the opposite direction (Sky News) Police should concentrate on Thais or Asians is more like to do that...no discrimination guys but we see enough wirh some vicious and violent crimes in Thailand
