My wife picked up the settlement visa application yesterday afternoon and it's accepted!

I want to say thanks to everyone who posted here with information and the excellent guides that made it all possible.

We also received our collection notice today (that was fast! at around 3.5 weeks). Not sure if she can pickup on Saturday otherwise it will be Monday. We will let you know.

Hi btw. I am new to posting here but have been lurking here a few years. It was the very good information posted here that has allowed my girlfriend on now my wife to visit the uk on her visit visas over the past 2 years.

Only one in the list... thats unacceptable. But maybe it's a good sign . The missus did say the queue was very small! Perhaps it's the effect of the new test.

We married on December 22nd and we submitted the settlement visa application on the 11th Jan 2011. I did the visa application like the previous 2 based on everything I found here and we did the test in the UK the same week providers here starting offering them.

I miss her so much the past couple of weeks and I am deseperately hoping I am not on those those who have o wait 8 weeks on longer or worse those that get rejected. I cannot imagine how much that hurts....

Not exactly sure what the right forum for this is but:

Thanks to the all hints and tips my girlfriend is now coming to live with me in the UK for 6 months on a visit visa (I think the 250 page folder good enough for a settlement visa may have helped). 4 days from app to approved

Anyway as it happens I have 3 weeks holiday booked and want to show her around the UK but there is a bit of a problem. I can't drive!. We could use coaches/trains etc but it's very inconvenient.

Is she allow to drive in the UK on a Thai driving license? that way we could hire a car?

Any advice is gratefully received.
