Government school EP in a neighbouring province pays their teachers 33k x 12 months, filipinos who teach science get the same (they of course have degrees in science). They are also much better than most of the native speakers that go through the doors as teachers in the 30-40k TEFL field.

I have never known any teacher in Thailand to get 12-month paid salary.. This must be a good school !!

These things happen all the time.. Last year a friend of mine and my humble self went to a bar in Bkk.. Spent 30 min n 2 bottles of Singha each n we got a bill of 4 500 baht.. We questioned the bill n were asked to either pay or get shot.. My friend spoke to them in thai n the bill was reduced to 2 000 baht we gave 1 200 baht and one of the guys there was delegated to follows us to ATM machine to get the balance, we went out pretend we were call BIB the guy took off.

Kalasin is a nice laid back town with schools clustered along a major road, since you have a family there, you wont be bored otherwise you will need to travel to big cities for fun, if you know what I mean.

You will get a single entry tourist visa for thailand n malaysia, so book london to Kl(malaysia) then Bkk(thailand) to london. You can enter thailand by land from malaysia. You cannot get a re entry permit on a single entry tourist visa.
