Congratulations and well deserved Richard but sadly, the medal represents a a rather paltry 'Empire' these days! Surely they could come up with a more representative name.

as govt puts brakes on ‘Old Car for New Car’ scheme
Not much point wasting time doing this. Doesn't matter if old or new, we all know that brakes never seem to work in cars here.

Sure to happen (NOT). But first on any itinerary should be the much mooted prison tours... so that visitors can see where they will be staying if they happen to post a negative on-line review

Am I reading this right? It takes the NACC almost 8 years to find that there is substance to the allegations, but the OAG has concerns that the investigation is still incomplete... and now (presumably because of the Statute of Limitations) the prosecutors in charge of the case have 60 days to prepare it for submission to the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Office. No wonder the guy has a big smile on his face as if saying to himself: Up yours, Thailand!

So sad. Wrong nationality and unlikely to meet the expected 400,000 baht visitor's spend here.

Of course they are. Immunity to swing an axe at any whim.
Not a whim, for the EC its more like lap dogs following instructions.

Sounds to me like a sick case of early stage vocational training. They are obviously preparing the kids for a future career in the army!

Everyone seems to be missing the point here. Its not that he doesn't like gambling, he simply doesn't like to see other people (especially foreigners) making money by competing with the police.

Interesting they don't seem to be able to have been able to get anyone with real financial markets experience. This one seems to have presided over a state economic "think tank", so he should be good at forming committees. Also, as he has been Transport Minister over the period of the demise of Thai Airways, he is well suited to guiding the demise of the Thai economy. So seems like a good choice!

One thing I have noticed about Sudarat over the years... she is a survivor, primarily because she has a knack of selling her vote to the highest bidder and then knowing when it is time to desert a sinking ship!

North Yorkshire Police seem to have no problem tracking down felons who flee overseas. Perhaps Thailand should ask their help in finding Boss?

What a lot of twaddle. The DSI are most likely reluctant to accept the case because a full investigation means looking at far more than Boss's crimes and police actions... such as where did money come from for bribes and who owned / provided the plane that got him out of the country. If done properly this would lead to some pretty big (and in Thailand probably untouchable) heads rolling.

Another mega-rich mama's boy looking to appear more important than his intellect justifies. He has no formal medical credentials and appears to have little medical knowledge other than pushing for legalization of medical marijuana. Does anyone here believe that he made any sort of contribution to Thailand's apparent 'control' of coronavirus? Having embarrassed Thailand so much in recent times, he will go on to add to WHO's embarrassments over its handling of the disease.

He is obviously not right for a job in this government. The reason is not that he cheated, but that he was stupid enough to get caught. I am sure they only want good cheats at the top!

Thailand had provisions guaranteeing equal rights to government services for the disabled in the 1997 constitution, but these seem to have been conveniently 'left out' in the 2017 army re-write. However, the disabled should still have the rights they are calling for through the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2007. and Thailand's signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities and the Incheon Strategy. The problem is not the lack of mention in the constitution but the fact that successive governments haven't and don't give a damn.

It will be interesting to see what the criteria for getting one will be. I hope it is not arbitrary based on how 'connected' the prisoners are or how much money they have. But then, this IS Thailand.

One wonders if this is really "to maintain discipline" Would it not also have the effect of keeping the baht high so that those in the know can salt as much as possible overseas before the coming meltdown? Why not spend the extra 1% helping the people!

Great idea, but in Thailand messaging by LINE or Facebook may gain better attention in an emergency situation.

So sad. 100 billion of budget approved and nothing to spend it on. I am sure they will find a worthy cause.

Can't agree. Thailand has been taking backward steps for 20+ years... but I still love the country and its common (non-hi-so / privileged) people!

Good news for many Thai drivers. This can be added to 'brake failure' as an accepted excuse for speeding. poor driving skills or excess alcohol.

Good point. I presume you are wanting to know if they are getting favorable treatment over foreign workers from Lao and Myanmar.
