  1. How sad. RIP to the Austrian.

I know many people of different nationalities who have divorced their Thai wives. In every instance it was because large sums of money were spent, overtime, without the husband understanding where it went. Their wives could not explain it adequately and usually the discussion ended in a row with the wives screeching "you farang, no understand" etc etc. These wives were not all ex bar girls. Some were well educated and had businesses or professional careers before marriage.

Money seems to lead to huge issues here and these Thai wives all reacted very quickly and badly when challenged. It seems from the OP that this lady was prone to use violence.

Before one of the nit picking members will ask you to prove the statement "in every instance"; I fully understand what you mean as well as most other normal members. Money is the root of all evil, and for sure money matters more to most Thai (Oh flip I will be asked to prove this) people because their government does not support layabouts like the western word does. I agree with you that it is not only related to bar girls; the educated ones seem to be more prone to this (Oh I have done it again) Pimay1 will have a field day with this post - knock yourself.

calling it how it is, eh?? how very well dare thee!! you should go back to your own country and let the rest of us sugar coat shzzzzz biggrin.png ...kidding, of course, lol

  2. i'm assuming the whole point is that western-style toilets can be used by everyone and anyone, whether overweight, pregnant, old and frail.. i wouldn't say i'm severely overweight or anything, but i'm not a small guy and using one of those squat toilets isn't a pleasant experience. i'm sure my pregnant gf would also agree it's not comfortable for her to squat right now either. all down to personal preference i suppose, but it would be nice to have the option of a western-style toilet in more public places, in particular at service stations. i don't really frequent any other places with squat bogs :)

  3. i know it's the law to have a degree to teach and get a work permit in thailand, but my question here is does it really matter whether it's an FdA or BA degree?

An FdA degree in the UK is essentially the first 2 years of a 3 year BA degree. it follows the same route of study, except the last year isn't complete to be able to get the honours part of the degree.. so a BA (without hons).

most schools ask for a BA degree as standard, i was just wondering if that's them setting their own standards or whether this comes from the MOE as a minimum prerequisite to be able to teach.

anybody have idea or is there anyone out there teaching with an FdA degree??
