  1. I saw Hillary, The US Secretary of state, was wearing a Red dress while talking about Thailand.

Obviously, Thailand must take note of foreign governments. The French have Thaksan visiting in Paris so France is making its view clear. The UK has repeatedly called for UN run elections here in Thailand but the Regime has said no.

    Hey Brits.

That idiot terrorist want to be who is on video calling for the burning of the Central World, is making the Thais hate you Brits.

Yanks are laughing you know. You sure shoveled a load at the Yanks the last 10 years and now you are going to get yours.

Some of you deserve it but most of you do not.

Sorry about the nuts who will trash you now because of the Fire Starter video star.

Did you defend the Yanks though this past decade?

    NO

So do not expect the Yanks to defend you because you really were jerks to the Yanks over the last decade and revenge with a laugh is here.

  2. This government is the worst I have ever seen.. and some of the people here..may have studied for quite sometimes.. become the second class or higher who claims they knows what is the meaning of "democracy".. Thailand has become the biggest joke in international for attacking and hurting those unarmed people.. Those "educated" person thought they can rule the country with their limited knowledge without providing the real care to the people.. definitely will get revenge one day.

From the beginning, the red-shirt gangs is only looking for Election but not a War. Any smart politician should know how to solve the problem UNLESS they worry their power are being stolen after election..

    What a mess

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level - then beat you with experience.

Your way was so so smart was it?

The city is wrecked and the fight will go on.

    What an Einstein

  3. How very sad that most of the people participating in this thread actually believe all the propaganda. This is not about Thaksin. Yes, he is a figurehead because at the beginning of this fight he was the only one who stood forward and had money to support a movement. But it has become much bigger than Thaksin - but the government (and this is where you people are so stupid) is still using him because they want to tarnish him. The government knows how popular he is in the north and Isaan and want to diminish his power.

This is about democracy and equal rights. Not Thaksin. You stupid stupid people.

LOL....but happy for you that at least you know how to spell/write democracy. Fact is, all the trouble is because of him and his vendetta! How can you be so biased not to understand it? Have a few drinks to enlarge your mind.

How is that crackdown on the reds working out for you?

A few more weeks of this and the WAR will be in full start.

I like how you are happy with how it turned out.

You have a ticket out when things get worse?

  4. Is this what you had planned? When you were talking tuff and calling for an extreme crackdown, did you see the city being destroyed?

Did you want pictures of monks being handcuffed in a Temple with women and children dead around them at the hands of the Thai military? These pictures spread all over the world in an instance on the web now. I saw it.

Did you expect the Thai men in Black to fight back still this morning? They did not give up. The simply moved and are shooting in groups of 15 or so on Motor Bikes.

Did you see the city being quickly destroyed and burned down?

Did you want the world to look at Thailand and shake its head in disgust?

Are you ready for the trade tariffs to come?

Are you going to run from the nation like the Chines ran from Indonesia?

You think the Thai Issan people will forgive you or do you think they want revenge?

  5. When I woke up this morning and heard that the army was going in, I thought it would result in 100s dead. I think it's less than 10. A phenomenally good and disciplined job on the part of the military that should bury once and for all this shit about repressive regimes slaughtering innocents, etc, etc. There's not government in the world that could have done it with less damage. Really, it's time for the redshirts (if they actually exist outside the mob) to quit burning the country and sit down like civilized people and take the hand this government has offered them. If they dont' want to do that - shoot the lot of them.

I know you read those numbers but those numbers given my the Thai government are not true.

There were 7 dead in a temple that a doctor reported and the Thai government did not report those and likely has missed the 100s you are talking about.

  6. quote Lanna rebirth "That is not true. The current government was formed by a coalition of MP's each of whom was democratically elected. "

How can it be a democratic election when the original party for the redshirts was forbidden and disbanded.

Even the fachist Nazi national front in England is allowed to run for elections.

This is the meaning of democracy.

Every line of thought should have its chance - be it for better or worse.

    This is democracy

    Free speech is another thing

The current gov has banned lots of websites with political criticism against them.

This is not a democracy because of internet and news censorship, and the arrest and imprisonment of people for simply expressing their opinions..

There are other things too but i think the above points are enough and prove that the current gov is not democratic.

Do not waste your time talking to the anti Reds.

This group here is never going to make sense or change.

They called for the attack and now are still calling for killing.

All Bangkok can burn down and they will still be saying the attack was a good idea.

  7. You are all entitled to you views but really people, the city is burning and empty of all business.

The government killed over a dozn people in the temple-women and children.

It is going to get worse.

    You were calling for war?

Well now you have it and the city is being destroyed.

The army should have NEVER moved on the people like this.

    It was stupid.

You like the results so far?

Wait until it burns for weeks.

    Call in the UN.

  8. War

    Your jobs are gone.

Time to go home or to another nation farang.

    Retired here are you?

Try another nation. Any place is going to be better in Asia than here.

    Revolution?

    Anarchy?

    Class war?

    Freedom fight?

    Terrorism?

It all depends how you see it but for sure, it is a kickass fight with tons of dead and huge economic losses.

  9. Where are the posters, who I will not name, that were posting endlessly that the government should go in blazing and take out the reds?

Well they did what you wanted and now look at the city and nation.

Bangkok could end up gone if this goes on for weeks and months.

You farang fat butts can go home but Thais are stuck here.

Your idea was indeed a very bab bad idea.

  10. When will this site be crashed?

Electricity, water, and even food supplies in Bangkok could be wrecked if this goes on much longer.

Home sweet Home might be the best option for most foreigners.

    Boys in the Nana area

    Look at that place.

One main way out. It is a multi floor firetrap disaster waiting to happen and the boys on both sides might want to use a few hundred or even a thousand dead farangs for propaganda.

    Drink at home.

  11. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned here is that before the crackdown there were predictions of a bloodbath in Rachaprasong, there were 3 or 4 deaths of red shirts guards, a journalist and injured soldiers. I'm not sure of the total tally from the crackdown, but no bloodbath thank goodness.

    @markmackinnon

Medics around me say 7 dead 10 injured inside Wat Patum temple, which was supposed to be sanctuary. I'd guess 1500 to 2000 terrified ppl

This was supposed to be a peaceful protest too, if I remember correctly.

Endless crying will not stop this fight now will it.

So some of you, most here on this site, hate the reds. others, most on sites outside Thailand, have Thais posting their hate toward the Thai government.

If no middle ground can be reached, all that you love in Bangkok will sooner or later be gone. Media will be destroyed. Banks wrecked. Unemployment will be at 50% or more.

Even the INTERNET could be completely turned off sooner or later.

    Sooner is very possible.

    Want to make some money?

Short the baht and or Thai stocks off shore.

    This wreck is now unstoppable.

  12. And how much money do the rich Chinese Thai have here in Bangkok?

If they say they have 30 billion dollars, they likely have 100 billion dollars.

The other rich Chinese Thai families have huge money off shore as well.

Just look at the Thai Baht at 32 for the US dollar.

How on earth is that possible unless huge money from these same rich families is supporting it with huge buying of the baht.

Imagine the foreign currency in any nation after this event. They would all be in free fall. But here in the land of Chinese Thai money, the baht is still strong.

Bangkok is closed down and the baht is still strong.

But this too could end soon.

The Chinese Thai business man are ready to run from Thailand now. if they should start to leave in mass, the Thai meltdown will accelerate and the baht could see 100 or more for the us dollar.

The Thai wreck is was so so predictable and preventable.

Of course when you treat people like 2nd class citizens and kill them without a trial, you have become a rogue nation, as Miss Sarah says.

I fear for my family and you should fear for yours.

This is the start up of a revolution and not the end of a small movement.

  13. What a totally incompetent job by the government.

The whole nation could be thrown into chaos for years now all because the fat rich boys did not want to make a deal with the winners of all the elections.

Now we could see revenge killings in mass and the start up of armed forces, militia, all over the nation on all sides.

We cannot believe a thing we hear from the government.

More will burn down each day--the people will run from the city.

It did not need to end this way.

  14. I have a hard time sharing a thread with him/her let alone a computer :D

Plus, I would not be able to handle his/her hogging the keyboard since he is averaging more than 10 more posts a day than me. :)

In all seriousness, I am shocked as somebody pointed out to me just a couple days ago that I was avg. 20 a day but obviously I have been obsessing more than I thought this last week since I raised my avg. per day to 30.

But all things must come to an end (or slow down) and I am going to have to get back to work soon as well as this crisis hopefully coming to an end soon and BKK will return to normal providing more away from keyboard experiences to enjoy,

You will be back and the fight has just begun.

But I agree with you. More than 30 minutes here is not good for anyone.

    We have lives.

  15. BANGKOK — Some of the city's grandest hotels are shut and ringed with coils of glittering razor wire. Foreign visitors have deserted its temples and backpacker haunts. Military roadblocks hem in some of its famous nightspots.

Arrivals at Bangkok's international airport are down by at least one-third, and hotel occupancy rates hover around 20 percent to 30 percent. Thai tourism industry, built on an image of gentleness, pleasure and smiles, is suffering its worst setback in decades — perhaps the worst in its history, according to tourism officials.

As scenes of the country's violent uprising have spread around the world — bombs and bodies, street fights and gunfire — people abroad are asking whether it is safe to visit Bangkok.

The brief answer, from embassies and security experts and even some people in the tourism industry, is: probably not right now.

At least 37 people have died in five days of fighting between the military and antigovernment demonstrators, known as the red shirts. Although the two sides may now be edging toward negotiations, the potential for more violence remains.

Forty-seven nations have told their citizens to be cautious about travel to Thailand, and several, including the United States, have warned them to stay away.

The violence has been confined so far to a relatively small, though central, area of Bangkok. But the city is tense. Roadblocks, checkpoints and shutdowns of public transportation have made travel difficult. Taxi drivers refuse to take passengers to some parts of the city.

On Saturday, the United States Embassy issued a warning that said, "All United States citizens should defer all travel to Bangkok and defer all nonessential travel to the rest of Thailand." It said all nonemergency government workers and their families were authorized to leave.

On Tuesday, the tourism authority of Thailand issued its own advisory, saying, "Visitors and tourists are advised to be vigilant, follow news developments, exercise extra caution and avoid areas covered by the declaration of a severe emergency situation" — areas that include not only the capital, Bangkok, but also 21 provinces.

In fact much of Bangkok is peaceful, as are virtually all parts of the provinces covered in the advisory, and many Thais are disturbed to see their country portrayed as a place of violence."When you get out from those areas of political turmoil, things seem to move as smoothly as ever," said Korakot Punlopruksa, a travel writer and photographer. "We still live peacefully, we still love good food, and the sea is still beautiful."

Thais try to break away from thoughts of the conflict, she said.

    "Otherwise, we would go crazy."

On Khaosan Road, a low-budget haven that is far from the fighting, the calm weighed like a heavy cloud over half-empty bars and souvenir shops and hostels. Rows of three-wheeled tuk-tuk taxis stood idle in front of empty Internet cafes and foot-massage parlors.
