  1. Well Sinsod is money or property give to the parent of the bride with a promise that their daughter will marry the groom, so when there is marriage then the such agreement is fulfilled. You can't take it back in anyway without your ex-wife's family consent.

I have observed that Sinsod is seemed to be big problem with foreigner. Why Sinsod is matter to marry Thai woman? The background reason is that if a daughter is getting marry Sinsod is the prove that the man can take care, protect, and provide good life to the daughter.

Recently most of bride's parent would return Sinsod back to the groom after they finish the marriage ceremony, well from my knowledge.

  2. As a Thai staff in a foreign company.

    1. Why we request more money compare to the same business owned by Thai operator?

    -- Language

--Not all Thai can speak English and it even harder to find a Thai who can speak 3rd language like French, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic............and even harder for a professional who is bilingual, multilingual.........so this type of employee has power to negotiate with most of business.

    2. Why Thai people easily change job when they get better offer?

-- Who won't? Security of life does matter, in many foreign companies they will not promote their staff, unless the staff has same nationality with the owner (though the owner is not even a person but "it" is just a transnation company)...........there are MANY. Since there is no career path so what we as a Thai do is "move on" to another company with the hope of secure position, welfare, big pay. brighter future, or many of them start their own business. Career path does matter and also job security.

    3. From your problem "Some staff work 12 hour days 4 days per week and get 3 days off -every single week"

-- This is flexible issue, if u allow it to happen then it will continue. You have to check the company's work rules give them written warning if the rules allow you to do so............but if you have allowed them for too long this gonna be tough in case you want case you want to discharge them.

  3. I am a big fan - Tata has great tatas. :jap:

I heard the other day some Thais gossiping about how much weight she has recently put on. This picture seems to confirm it:

Attractive women do seem to pass they`re sell by date fairly quickly and don`t have a very long shelf life.

heard from the dara news that she was ditch by the gay son of a muay thai camp owner.

dam_n it is evil to be ditch by a gay.

aint sure if it is true?

I think she ditch him. They engaged with a big Sinsod about 100 million, I think. Don't know she return Sinsod to his family yet.

Is he gay? I don't know but seem to be. Anyway he say he is not.

  4. As a "boss" for the past 15 years, I have found that it always pays to invest in your number 1 asset - your people. I have written many recommendation letters, and have lost some of those people for various reasons, such as furthering education, career advancement not possible with the current company, etc. This philosophy has paid back many times over. I find that these past employees are very loyal, often returning, and often recommending good employees, and a couple of times recommending me to their business contacts. The employees that stayed after a recommendation were also very appreciative and loyal that I would write a letter of recommendation for them, essentially I invested in them.

I say, talk to your boss. He will appreciate your honesty and your ability to speak candidly without fear of losing face. Give him assurances that you will keep in touch and consider returning after you receive your education. The bottom line is that you must invest in yourself, and education is one of the ways you can do that. Any boss worth working for will understand this and gladly give you the letter. If your boss won't then he/she is not the kind of boss you want to work for. Your boss made a conscious decision to hold you back in your career and life for their own gain, and will continue to do so.

    Thank you Khun Floridaguy

  5. Thank you Khun Noise.

All universities that I checked require for such letter especially for scholarship.

and Thank you Khun dsprtlving. I think I will talk to him today.

I just worry about employer's reaction if I tell him about this. I heard that some employer has narrow mind if employee plan to get master or resign he then acts different [in a bad way]. But in this case he is foreignor so I don't know what he think. I might worry too much :bah:

opinions from foreign bosses here would help me.

  6. whoa I don't know what to say

I login this site a few times and never see this kind of opinion before. mmm interesting

I think you should be happy for the success of your ex-wife. But why you keep complain about it?

beside Thailand didn't requested USA to invade Vietnam and set military base in Thailand. We just allowed you to use some area as your base don't say that we requested.

  7. hello all

I think I should post on this category.

I plan to take a mater degree and aplpy for scholarship but it requires 2 reccomendation letters from professor or employer. I requested from my professors already but they seem to be pretty busy lately so I'm not sure that they can make it in time for me. So far I got one from my professor.

Anyway I have been working for 2 years so I think at least 1 recommendation letter from employer would be more preferable. The question is that if I request it from my boss [Japanese] would that effect to my bonus and salary increasing for the following year? I want opinion from anyone in this site because many of you are bosses. Would it effect the feeling in office esp. for me that would employer think that "oh you gonna leave, so bonus and salary increasing is not that necessary for you" ?

I really worry my boss graduated from usa. I think he would be generous for this, but I still worry. I don't know what is in his mind because I plan to study abroard I'll go only if I get scholarship and if I don't I'll keep working with this company and applay master degree in Thailand instead.

Should I request recommendation letter from my boss? This makes me frustrated for weeks:(. As a boss what do you think?

  8. the foreigner hold Non-B and multi re-entry and once in a while he will stay up to 90 days so this mean it isn't necessary to change address, right?

anyway his family use condo as their address

This is the way I see it, just declare the new address on the Arrival card (TM.6) and that should do it.

    Ok and Thank you.

However I think TM.6 doesn't have address blank to fill out.

  9. As for WP: no urgency to change address of residence now but when you apply for an extension of the WP it is advisable to have them make the change at the same time.

As for Visa: If you are on a multi-entry Non-Imm and leave Thailand every 90 days there is no need to change anything, just enter your new address in the TM.6 card on the next arrival.

If you are on an extension of stay then you should "in theory" notify Immigration within 24 hours, but you will have to do it for certain when you do your next 90 days address reporting.

    opalhort

    Thank you opalhort,

  10. wow recovering my password pretty difficult for me -_-" it takes time :)

I have question about changing address

If foreign use company's address as his address in visa and work permit becuase he stayed at hotel at the moment, then he rents condo.

In practice, does he have to change address in work permit and visa? He still work in that company and the company does't change it address so can he use such address onward?

Anyone change your address after rent condo?

change or don't don't which is better?
