I've seen the video. Whilst the car was in the wrong, the PCX guy did not seem to take any evasive action. Just plowed straight into the front of the car. There was open ground and even a small section of shoulder to his left.  Which was an obvious escape route. can even be seen in the photos above.

    RIP

Curious, where did you find the video?

I have a friend who desperately needs to get back to the states. The rules for travel are ugly, confusing, and he was turned away from the plane just before boarding. At least he got a full refund for the flight (but NOT for the mandatory Covid test) and will try again tomorrow. Certainly NOT the time to travel unless it's absolutely necessary.

Why wasn't he allowed to board?

So what religion where his parents from then? as you know the family. I did not say he or his family were members now. They came to Thailand for a reason

Thanks for the link. It rings a bell now. Clearly not a religion, rather a cult that formed around a charismatic man's uncontrolled lust targeting vulnerable people. Anyway, I want to respect the family's privacy. I'm sure you can find out about them with some google research.

Seems his parents where children of god cultists and he was brought up in it, changed their name to the family in the 90's as a result of the accusations of widespread child sexual abuse and corporal punishment, completely barmy like most cults. Many who grew up in it have been phsycologicaly damaged, not saying he was, but you have to wonder.

I'm fairly well-versed on religion, but have never heard of this "children of god cult" which you've now mentioned twice.  What in the world are you going on about?  And, I know this family and they are very normal, highly decent folks - the furthest thing from a cult.

  5. What brings a tourist?

    Suitcase hardshell B 10000

    Sunglasses 2 pair. B15000

    Camera. B15000

    Few brand name

    Shirts/ shorts. B20.000

    Watch(no rolex). B20.000

    Jewerly (no much). B80.000

    Phone. B25.000

    Tablet. B20.000

    Cosmetics. B10.000

    2 pair shoes. B15.000

    Total. B240.000

That tourist is insane. $250 for a pair of sunglasses? $300 in cosmetics? Two thousand six hundred dollars in jewelry? Is he coming here for a Ray-Ban photo shoot with Zsa Zsa Gabor?
No these prices are VERY realistic.

I talk about brand name stuff not fake Chinese junk.

Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met behulp van Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Maybe a bit exaggerated, but the point is that all western tourists exceed the 10,000 baht limit.

  6. So all the certifications and the labellings are false if not unreliable! So i thought i had been eating organic veggies but they could be pesticide-laden stuff!! I already cut down on meat, fish, shrimps, seafood here as they are all sprayed with chemicals for preserving corpses! Gosh amazing thailand!

any advice on cleaning the veggie from pesticde will be appreciated.

I use Veggie Wash. I've seen it in Gourmet Market and Home Fresh Mart.

  7. I get around pretty handily in this city, as I keep all the options open. When I go to my language school, I take a motorcycle taxi, then BTS, then a 10 minute walk. I went to Bang Pho yesterday to buy some lumber... motorcycle all the way there then a tuk-tuk back. When I go to Mega Bangna or someplace like that, I drive. I love having the option of a car, but often it's the least convenient mode of transport.

One thing I love about Bangkok is that many neighborhoods are fairly self-contained, so you don't have to traipse all over creation to run simple errands, unlike in my home country.

Anyway, I have a feeling that the situation will start to correct itself as we approach permanent gridlock.
