  1. Thanks Scouse but I'm Scottish and Dalglish,Souness and Hansen have repaid the debt on my behalf already but I did buy a Liverpool kit for my Brother in law as he's Liverpool crazy and beyond help.

So In order get married register birth and apply for british passport.

Get my wife to change names of her and son, Is it possible to do this in Bangkok or does it have to be local?

Finally apply for settlement visa and be the new big spuds for 3 months and if he's reading well done i'm really pleased for you.

I read on one forum the fee has gone to £500 but if my son goes on the form at the same time only one fee is required.

Can you confirm or have you heard anything?

I understand all the supporting stuff I'll need to show genuine relationship etc but Is their a set amount of savings you need?

    Thanks again. :o

  2. Hi Everyone,

My partner{Thai} and I have been together 2 years and were happy me working In the Uk and travelling over every 3 months. However we had a baby girl In January and have decided she will come and live In the Uk with me.

    List of things to do:

    Get Married

Register birth of my daughter with Uk embassy and apply for British passport

    Apply for settlement visa

I have a stepson 4 yrs old and his natural father has not supported or visited him will we have a problem getting him back to the UK?

What will I have to do for him?

My partner wants to change their names to my surname.

They all have Thai passports at present.

Any advice appreciated and especially from scouse as I'm a Chelsea fan.

    Thanks In advance.

  3. Thanks for your Input.

Initially I'm thinking 3 or 4 months as I won't get much time off as currently I can spend around 5 months with them a year.

If they come here 4 months I can then spend around 2 months In thailand.

We are planning on marrying anyway and postponed this due to the birth of my daughter and i've read you can marry later and make your baby legitimate thus allowing her british citizenship.

Also It's a possibility I may want the kids to at least have their primary education here to give them a leg up if you like, but I am unsure if my wife will like it here.

I was thinking settlement for this reason(harder to obtain) but don't want the hassle of applying everytime for visits.

She seems quite happy with the arrangment at the moment as I have just had a nice house built for her and she has no worries but we are both finding It harder each time I leave to go back to work and sure the kids are changing everyday.

  4. Hi everyone,

I've been with my partner 2yrs and not married and she has a son 3 and a half yrs old and we have just had a baby girl 3 weeks old.

I am up for another promotion at work in the Uk and won't be able to have the same amount of time off as I do at present.

I'm not bothered about the job but thinking about another 5k a year.

I'll have to bring my family over for around 4 months a year, Do I apply for a holiday visa? or get married in Thailand first and apply for settlement visa.

    What do you think? :o

  5. I live approx 20kms from Wang Sammo (Amphur) and wondered what you fellow farangs are doing around christmas time as I would be interested in meeting up for a few drinks and some conversation.

Don't get me wrong I love where I live but need some farang conversation now and again,There are some farangs In the area but I don't know If they will be around or not.

If I can create enough interest maybe I could organise a party or meal or just a few drinks or whatever but would like to build some social contacts.

  6. Take what route?

If you are going to be going back and forth every few months you obtain a non immigrant O visa in the UK and if you apply at one of the smaller Consulate you can probably obtain a multi entry type which would cover your trips to Thailand for up to 15 months.  Each time you arrive in Thailand you get a 90 day stay stamp and if you need to stay longer you would have to cross a border/enter another country/return.  This type of visa would be easier than getting a new single entry each time if you plan more than one or two visits each year.  If not just obtain a new visa each time before you plan to return to Thailand.

Thanks for your help much appreciated.

  7. If you live in thailand,

What do you miss about the UK?

What would you like to be able to go to the shops and buy easily like you could in the UK?

What would you like to import?

    Just being noisey!!!

When i stay in LOS i miss UK food. Not a fan of thai food as much as i want to be!!

But cant seem to find anything i like to eat.

Always come back the UK looking like a skeleton.

    Is it just me?

    A good Haircut!

  8. If I'm out I'll have 3 beers and drive home but if I'm at home the same applies I will drink more than 3 beers but won't drive anywhere.

Drinking and driving is ok till you kill someone and personally I couldn't deal with that.

  9. The income requirement is only if you want to extend you stay here one year at a time. You will not have to show it for periodic visits. What you will need is paperwork from UK Embassy that is then translated into Thai and registered at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and returned to you with a registry number. That will be used when you go to a District Office to register you marriage. Very easy process but you have to allow a day or two in Bangkok for that paper.

    Thanks for your help Lopburi.

If I take this route however am I right In saying I would have to go to the embassy each time and renew my O visa for 3 months?

  10. No. You can use the child as a reason to have family visits and obtain an O visa but that will not allow you to stay in Thailand more than 90 days. Only support would meet that requirement be it for a child or wife. You will still need to meet the 400k or income requirements the same as anyone else.

Thanks Lopburi,However I generally only stay 3 months at a time and go back to work In London.

Do I have to show this amount before having a legal wedding or only If I want to stay for more than 3 months.
