With regards to vfs, I have gotten through to a human only once and I cannot remember which options I pushed (probably random ones). Usually I drop in when in bkk they are right near a skytrain station so pretty easy.

In australia certified means that a suitably qualified person from a specific list of occupations signs the copy and states it is true and correct. However for this visa ap the mother in law certified them herself (was adamant she could certify her own documents) and they were all accepted (much to the mother in laws joy when she called to tell me I was wrong haha)

Nope no bond was required. I did submit my payslips and bank statement though as I stated that I was providing accomodation food and travel expenses. I was pretty pleased was a nightmare to get my partner one 4 years ago

I would check up on that if I was you. When my partner used to come to aust on tourist visas no insurance was required (it was recommended though). I think there may be a requirement for older people to have a health check but not mandatory insurance. We are also in the process of getting a tourist visa for my partners mum and there has been no mention of insurance as a requirement.

Only a tourist visa this time but the service at perth was amazing. About 5 minutes from handing in the application to getting the sticker in my passport and on my way. Much better then the old canberra route.

I'm not saying those are not nazi swastikas, I'm saying that to Thais they probably have no idea of the nazi connotations, just the Hindu/Buddhist ones.
-
The swastika is actually an ancient Hindu symbol that the nazis appropriated, my guess would be that even though this looks a bit naziesque it's probably there as the Hindu symbol (which was subsequently adopted into Buddhism). If you go to bali there are swastikas everywhere

I have a nut allergy, little more serious then yours I also throw up but I haven't had a problem here. I got my thai partner to write in thai that I'm allergic to nuts and show this. Been spending 3 months a year in Thailand for 4 year's and always eat Street food. Never had any problems.

Just a heads up to everyone, I have been advised by the Thai Embassy in Canberra that the Perth Honourary Consulate will soon be re-opening.
They have advised that although not officially open yet, the Honourary Consul is available to be contacted if required. Not sure yet of the exact opening date, but should be good news to people from Western Australia as no more having to send visa apps to Canberra and it taking a couple of weeks to hear back.
The contact details are:
Consul: Mr Reuben Isor Kooperman
Address: Ground Floor, 28-42 Ventnor Ave West Perth
Phone: (+61) 418 906 945
Email: [email protected]
Office Hours: 09.30 - 14.30

The Thai consulate in Perth has closed down, unless it has opened again very recently. I think you need to apply by post to Sydney

Hi Guys,
Just a quick query, is the English Staffy actually banned in Thailand.
We are trying to be organised and look into this a good 6 months before planning to come over and all the pet transport companies I speak to in Australia just say sorry banned breed.
Problem is, according to the Perth Consulate (about 6 months ago) English staffies are ok.
Had a look on here and there a alot of conflicting posts, some say yes, some no, some maybe.
Does anybody know a definitive answer to this? and also where I can print out something officially to show the transport companies?
Cheers

Hi Guys,
I am flying into Bangkok next week and was just wondering if anybody knows the current rate to exchange Aussie Dollars to Baht at the Airport?
I would normally not change anything at the airport, but I am flying straight out again so wont get a chance to go head into Bangkok and change the money.
Just seeing if the rate I can get at the Airport is better then the rates I can get in Aus,
Cheers

In the Australian media they are reporting that he has also been charged with filing a false statement with the Australian Embassy accusing Thai police of attempting to extort money from him.Seems a little fishy

I have a Staffy who always gets dermatitis, I use Antihistamine tablets (just standard human ones) and Malaseb shampoo. Not sure where you can get Malaseb over here, I usually bring a few bottles everytime I'm back on Australia.

I leave my money in a Savings Account in Australia. I have half in an online account at 6.15% and the rest in a Term Deposit at 7.5% with the monthly interest redirected to the online account. Then I just transfer funds online to my thai account when needed, $22 to transfer and it usually clears in 48 hours.
you better check your online rate and report back again. there is no bank in Australia which pays 6.15% on short term cash when it can refinance at 4.85% interbank rate.
RUBBISH Naam. Rabo plus and a couple of others have been offering 6.15% for in excess of a month now. Theres a few others around 6% as well.
RUBBISH ND! 6.15% for what fixed term? definitely not for a savings account with immediate online access to the cash (as mentioned above).
note to my[not so]humble self: "it is unwise to discuss quantum mechanics with your gardener!"
might be worth you checking some websites before making statements like the above. Check www.Ubank.com.au so long as I make a minimum dept each month (which is why I redirect the interest from my TD to this account) I am actually now earning 6.26% with no fixed term at all. If I dont make the minimum I still get 5.85% and there are no penalties for withdrawals. I also work for another Australian Bank which is currently offering 6.00 if no withdrawals.

The BankWest platinum cards (doesn't matter which one) have no foreign transaction fees, you do still pay a foreign atm fee if you withdraw cash though.
