One year extension are normally only given for studies at a university. Although a very few immigration offices now seem to give 1 year extensions of stay for a study at a language school, there are no reports about BKK now giving 1 year extensions.
Thank you.
Well, leaving the matter of extension type, what about schools for named languages?

Could anyone suggest school in Bangkok where Korean, Taiwanese Mandarine or Japanese is taught and that provide ED visa with 1 year extension (not every 3 month one, as Prolanguage does)?

You need a work permit if u want to get a credit card from the bank
You may get a credit card without WP, but under fixed deposit. I.e. you put into the bank 20+ thousand THB and get credit line with the same limit. Basically you use your own money, but you have any credit card you like.

Should work with just a passport in any of three banks (K-Bank, SCB, BB), however you may have to go through several branches until you get positive reply.
But if you got a Thai friend, take him along, it will help.
scb doesnt open account without wp i tried 5 different branches and all of them refused. bangkok bank need proof of adress which i show my turkish driving license with the adress at the back and opened my account there. kbank is the easiest they want only your passport try different branches and let your wife talk with them because most of the staff have poor english and many of them dont want to deal with foreigners
Well, I have opened savings account in SCB with nothing but passport with 30 days stamp. Not even a visa and no Thai friends' help.
I have accounts in Bangkok Bank and KTB, though the last one was not easy and required to bring my Thai friend along (he showed only ID card, no other documents).

Several times have heard Thai girls using "kap" instead of "kaa". Not related to any specific context.

I think the best would be to go for Krav Maga. Or Muay Chaiya, if you succeed to find it there.
As far as I know, there is no quality chinese styles' schools there, no silat and no FMA.
P. S. Aikido, muay thai and taekwondo are rather far from what is needed for combat. Aikido being the farthest

Officially it was until 31 March, and since April it is not free any longer.
However some people reported visa is still free in Vientien – though I have no idea if that is true or not.

+1 for Tesco Lotus or Big C.

From my personal experiance, I find your information incorrect, True, Ais will not offer a postpay account to a Non-Thai without a workpermit
It is difficult, but possible. I have a postpaid contract with Truemove, and I got it while having a 30 days on arrival stamp, not even a visa.

Do a google search on IEC 3G, I have used them they only offer HSPDA, so you can download at 7.2mbps and upload at 384kbps, they only cover BKK at the moment, but are the best priced I think, you will need to use google translate to view the website. True offer HSPA download 7.2mbps and upload 2mbps(currently) but True are much more expensive, but have coverage in BKK & Pattaya.
True has unlimited 3G (by volume, however not by speed) for 600–650 THB/month, which includes also about 300 minutes talk time. Does IEC offer anything of a sort? I guess it has no calling service at all.

Greedy bastards. Even on death of their own son they just think how to make money and put another person into trouble.

Still, does anyone know what Thai law says in this regard?

What bank are you with?!?!? At Kasikorn, the long legged young skinnier than a lite pole, ladies take your queve slip, give the 4 fingered hand point to the front door and ask us to use the atm outside. This is a fact.
With SCB and Bangkok Bank there is no such a problem. I assume Krung Thai as well.

Wonder if they'll reduce the 150 Baht foreign card usage fees also...
I noticed the other day that Siam Commercial don't charge me anything to withdraw from my Hong Kong based Hang Seng bank account.
I've tried 2 Siam Commercial ATMs and both times there was no fee.
I bank here with Kasikorn and out of habit always used their ATMs, even when using my HK ATM card and always got charged the 150 baht, so was pleasantly surprised that Siam Commercial don't charge.
SCB is notorious for Heavy charges for many things and Poor exchange rate. I ain't believe yah...
Exchange rates with Kasikorn are reported to be even worse. Besides, SCB never charged my card 150 THB fee, but that is perhaps because I use China UnionPay card for withdrawal and not Visa/MC.

what a fantastic event to pick up hot korean women working in Bangkok
U gave me a reason to go to the concert

Vientian doesn't care, others ask (for instance KL).

"Korean band groups, but they are geared for the 25 yr under crowd. Nothing (that I know of) for the farang tourist who is older than 30 years."
I would disagree
I went there from Bangkok for couple of hours just to see performance of Son Dambi. And I am 32 yr and farang.

It is usually easy to open a savings account in Kasikorn and Siam Commercial (SCB) banks with a tourist visa or 30 days stamp. More difficult to open an account in Bangkok Bank and Krung Thai Bank, however also possible. I am not sure of chances in other Thai banks though.

Which one is better for English–Thai? I would prefer something used in universities while learning Thai.
