I lived in Thailand in 1964-65 and 1968-1970.
Thailand was the same then and will stay that way.

I see many adds for houses and they say, "Detached".
Is that a smaller separate house from a larger one?

My Grandson recently entered Louisiana State University A&M.
Freshman are required to live in the dorms for the first year.
I can't be specific about individual cost, but the cost of the dorm is around $750 per month. The whole Package including buying a meal plan is about $26000. This includes the Dorm cost. My grandson home is Texas, so he has to pay out of state tuition. I have him using our address in Louisiana, which will establish him as a resident of Louisiana.
The cost for an in state student is half of the out of state student. If they have somewhere else to stay it is considerably less.
I think my sons tuition was about $1200 per semester in the 88-93 school year at LSU.

My wifes Thai passport had her last name spelled wrong. We went to the Thai Foreign ministry and for a nominal fee
They changed it.
When we got to the Airport, they were checking papers, the airline was telling the officials they needed to take off and we went onto
The plane.
Before we got to SFO I realized that my wifes birthday was also wrong on her Passport. The Immigration officials
Never looked and just stamped her passport.
This was before 9-11 so they are much more picky now. If you can't get it fixed, just tell them the truth.

Stopped about 3 different times for some unknown traffic offenses and each time 100 Baht took care of it.
When we were getting my wifes visa, the folks at the immigration department made hint about Jack Daniels and
Salem cigarettes. We complied and got her paperwork done.
Just recently, my nephew was drivingus from Bangkok to Petchaboon and we were pulled over at a road block and
The police said we changed lanes to often! 100 baht later we were on our way.
Just another day in Thailand.

My wife was a housegirl at our US Army Camp at Kanchanaburi in 1968-69. She washed and ironed clothes for 12 GI's, and polished boots, made 12 beds and kept our barracks clean. We each paid like $8 per month. She wouldn't have anything to do
With the GI's.
I happened to be in charge of the housegirls. Tough job but someone had to do it.
I pursued her for months to no avail. When Our camp closed I got reassigned to Camp Samae at Sattahip.
She got hired at the Enlisted Mens club on base.
After a while she relented and went out with me. About 6 months later we were married and have been for almost 45 years,
And have a son 43 years old.
She was 23 and about 98 lbs with long long hair and rather shapely and attractive as well, this and the fact that she was a hard worker, was my reasons for being attracted to her.

I wouldn"t want to fly in the same seat that he did.

If I am in a Hotel, 23-24 is really nice. If I am paying for the electricity, 26-27 would be adequate.

My wifes mother had a restaurant in Lopburi and the wife said it was common for her and other cooks to put
Marijuana seeds in the noodles or soup a flavoring.
The wife said everyone loved the noodles. No wonder!

My wifes neice who has a set of twins who are 3 1/2, learned English and Thai from their birth.
Their Dad is American and my neice is 100% Thai. They were exposed to their Thai Mawmaw and Pawpaw
Speaking Thai, and their Dad and me speaking english and they are doing fine.
They also have an 18 month old who is very fluent in both languages.
The kids automatically learn who to speak which language to.
Don't worry, they will learn just fine!.

Our condo was 1700 B for the month of October. I don't know about square meters, but our condo was 14X24foot.
I ran the air conditioner on 23 or 24 C , 24/7. We ocassionaly used the water heater, because the water tanks on the roof
Were stainless and absorbed the heat of the day and in the evening, the water was fairly warm. The water bill was
170 Baht.

When I was stationed in Thailand in the 60's, I think a greater number of Thais spoke English than they do now,
Because understanding English was a must to work on the bases.
There were about 50,000 American servicemen in Thailand.
It seems ladies the ladies of the evening learned english faster than most. Necessary business tool.
I just returned from a 1 month visit and although my wifes family is fairly fluent in English , I found the rest of the country
Is far behind in English skills.

Maye a photo of her throwing a telephone at one of her assistants would have been more appropriate!
It funny, here in Thailand girls wish to be whiter and girls in the USA got to the tanning booth!
Go figure!

We did the online thing for an appointment , and received the appointment for 8 days later.
We went to the Embassy to help my wifes nephew get an Immigrant visa. His mother is a US citizen.
We had the papers filled out, and we just needed some information.
No can do! I have never been treated so badly by a government agency in my life.
Not that it will do any good , but when I get back to the US I intend on calling my Senator and filing a complaint.
The Embassy personnel would only hand me a slip with the website on it.
Maybe I should wait till the nephew gets his visa!
Good luck at the Embassy. Its probably run by Democrats. Chulai 6768

Most US states have mandatory seatbelt laws for front and rear passenger, with a stiff fine
For noncompliance.
Perhaps such a program could at least help in Thailand.
I know there will be Tea money exchanged, but still it may help.
The biggest problem, some thais think their 1,2, or 3, Amulets they wear will make everything ok.
My pen rai.

Rando Brando,I lived in Thailand for a good while and have been married to a wonderful Thai Lady for 44 years.
If you ever took any advice, take it from the fellas who know.
Long ago Monks did not touch money and like the fellas said, things are not what they seem.
If you think you could get by on rice once per day maybe twice if your lucky, I would suggest if you are in a western
Country, locate a local Buddhist temple and talk to the abbot even if thru interpreter, about trying it for 3 months.
There have been many scandals lately with monks. Its not as pure and moralistic asyou think. Other religions have problems to.
Look at some Catholic priest in the USA and Ireland, Noone could forget Jimmy Swaggart, he is still on satellite.
Spend a month as a monk in a western country, and imagine it in Thailand as being much more austere.
Then there is the weather, mosquitoes, Dengue fever, malaria, bird flu, dysentery, sleeping on boards, learning
Thai, and another chanting language. Noone to talk english to.
After you spend 3 months in a western country as a Monk, if you are still determined, help yourself.

I don't like entrapment set ups like this either. Hitman , Really!
This guy probably is a piece of garbage, but like someone remarked, if he has enough good information for
The DEA, he likely will be place in the witness protection program, though likely not back in Thailand.
As far as "trained killer" statement, yes he was trained to kill, along with myself and thousands of other folks such as
Brits, Aussies, Kiwi's, Canadians, but like most, I kept my sense of morality and never hurt a flea.

Thai tourism in a "coma" - confidence at its worst level since records began, says academic

Maybe with tourism in a coma, it would be a good time to make double pricing illegal.
