Thailand’s New E-Work Permits Bring An End To Blue Books

    • June 6, 2017

By Piyawannee Watanasakolpunt and Suthasinee Neamsum

Foreigners employed in Thailand are required to obtain an appropriate visa as well as a work permit.  Work permits are issued by the Ministry of Labor and take the form of a small, passport sized “blue book”, containing details such as the employee’s position, name and location of employer, date of birth, and nationality, along with multiple pages for work permit renewal stamps.

The “blue book” will now be replaced with what is being referred to as an “E-Work Permit”, which is credit card sized ID card containing much of the same information as in the “blue book”.  The E-Work Permit will also include security and fraud prevention features such as a barcode and QR Code.  This change has been brought about via the Ministry of Labour’s Ministerial Regulation  on “Application for and Issuance of Work Permits and Notification of Employment of Foreign Workers” (No. 2) B.E. 2560 (2017) which came into effect on April 1, 2017.

In addition to introducing the E-Work Permit, the new regulation also provides for work permit applications and other relevant notifications  to be filed electronically.  All existing “blue book” work permits issued under previous ministerial regulations, treaties or other investment promotions (such as BOI and IEAT) will be replaced by E-Work Permits.  Timing of the implementation of the electronic filing system and the replacement of all existing “blue books” has not been clarified, so existing “blue books” should still be valid until their expiration date.

  4. Looking forward to F1 season too from UK.

Me too i will be watching 5.00 am sat morning

at last something good to watch instad of boring football

I'd rather watch paint dry than watch modern Formula 1. The only more boring sporstmen in the world than modern footballers are modern racing car drivers .. and that's saying something!

    Football fan (all formats)

    laugh.png

Each to his own of course.

    well now

we gettin in very "funny" environment,,, Booring racing or "sportmen",,, as i'm not vry particulary watching or supporting any racing, or sport's, including football, i personally found one of the most booring and not logically anything intresting with criket game. 22 adult men hitting ball what is just bit larger than golf ball,,,but it's normal for me as i dont like at all so called base ball or even American football as they dont even know what is really Football in USA as football is for kicking, not carrying with then helmet on....

if talking about REAL RUGBY, that is game for real men and yes it hurts a lot and no female helmets or any kind of shoulder supports to be wear.

But back to F1, yes now days F1 has gone booring, as the formulas are more electronic cars and even the driver dont have to change gear like in old days and basiclly everything is controlled by computer, not like old days, it was real driving and car control, but we do have to realice, that is modern day and we old blokes are left behind.....

  5. I hope you start a new thread about your 'big tour' as I am sure there would be many people on Thai Visa who would be keen to read more about your epic plan.

Well that will be having it's own web page when it's up and finalized. But

back to F1 today, it was nice start even for practice, but will see what will happen,, any thought who might be on pole??

  6. I thought you would be too busy Marco to worry about Formula 1 now that you have your big motorbike adventure coming up.

  8. Video seems to be more about coyote dancing than bikes?

    THANKS!!!!!!!

That is absolutely correct and unfortunently that is what THAI biking is all about, not so much real bikes, it's all about girls and something drinkable and even those gilr's loitering around modified pick up cars, not so much around real bikes or even modified bikes....sick.gif

    Nice one,

    Thanx mate

looks similar than i was there few yrs ago last time,,,darn, maybe next year i have time to drop by....

  10. Its 8.40am and looking out of my office window from Peppers, there is only a steady stream of traffic entering the base. There is no parking on Uppalisan road, erected signs everywhere.

    John

take picture,, as i cant make it up there todaywai2.gif

  11. That would be very intresting to see where IF any areas Ubon airport can expand for, lets say for larger airlines, or longer runways

terminal has space for UP and on it's right site, but runways,, where??

Then IF they would be relocated, i was just looking around and as Mukdahan friendship bridge is busy now days and have large number lao people coming to Thailand it would be well calculated for they site as well and for cargo planes and that large Chinese build casino in there as well and all items sent to Lao also HW 9E almost direct to vietnam Dansavan Border 235Km as via Chong mek, well have not been there long time, so i have no idea how busy they are.

So lets start to check where if anywhere they are expanding as that is ONLY airport here and loosing that we have to start to use Khon kaen Airport,,,wub.png

  12. We drove past the entrance of the base this morning and there was a sign saying that the kids day was tomorrow 12/1 from 0800 to 1500. Ive heard it was good last year so will give it a go tomorrow

What time you plan to heading there, i might drop by as well if i have change.. if not take a lot of pictures so i know what i missed

  13. Where exactly is this place. I heard it was on the Yasothon road so I drove up Hwy 23 towards Yasothon as far as Khueng Nai and didnt see any signs for it. Can anyone give more detailed directions for this place. Im thinking about going for a drive there on the weekend.

    Mate

Goodle earth you can look here

    15°17'2.88"N

    104°48'29.91"E

But it will be NOT open around April but exact date is not yet know as Royal's are bit busy and not available for opening ceremony

I been following it since they start to building it and getting almost there and it's kind of open when one happen to be in tha gate right time, but official opening ceremony will be somewhere in April

So yes it's from ubon with HW23 towards Khueng Nai and as soon you get 1st bit lower down section of the road and as you remember there is the bridge ove the river, BUT JUST BEFOR that and just BEFORE where the road turns left there is opening where you can cross the road to RIGHT and that is where ex seafood restarant was, now gone and next on the left is gold driving range and follow the road straight and then comes the diffucult part to turn LEFT and carefully on the roads as they are still not made compleltly and there is only one sign just fron of the Zoo, but look in google earth and you can find the way as well

    Cheers

  14. It's available from 3BB alla round the town long time already as i deal with 3BB many times and i have more than 10Meg line in home and business and we do live 40km out from town but related with Ubon 3BB office.

But as always they do not speak Eng in there, but line is working very good and no cutting problems last 3yrs already

Sorry i forgot,, we have Fiberoptic cable in here already long time, line is good

  15. Hi Guys

Helmet law for BOTH rider and Pillion has been inforced (but not followed by BiB) 17yrs already

Have a look on this Worth to look

This will hopefully clear all confusion up

I have saw 4 people on motor bikes die in BKK in the last year ., 3 of then did not have helmets on.

By law, apparently, only the driver has to wear an helmet :D

Correct me if I am wrong.

Only rider has to wear helmet....driver don't need unless in the racing track :)

  16. Why would i have politic's involved?

I found one coffee join clled Bla Bla because one of the Ubon westerner told so i went there, looked good,,i been there 1 time

then an other lad posted and other place in Warin Plantae(as it's correctly spelled) and i went there to insepect and found that to be extreamly nice.

Nothing wrong on competition,,or is it wrong to share information??

  17. By the way, I may be blind but I couldn't find the coffe shop in your original post,

    Patriot

As i looked google maps it should be around here, but i might be wrong, but it should be near by there
