  1. Have you been getting extensions of stay at immigration or getting multiple entry non-o visas at an embassy or consulate.

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife at immigration. No financial proof is needed.

Not sure why somebody would tell you to get a tourist visa when you can easily get a single entry non-o visa based upon marriage.

I have been renewing my 1 year Non-O visa for the last 3 years at Samui Immigration. Not multiple entry visa's from any other method.

The person who gave advice about getting a tourist visa was trying to help, just that's all they were familiar with I guess.

You think I can just pop over to Nathon and apply for the 60 day extension, no income or money in the bank proof needed?

    Thank you very much.

Yes you can easily get the 60 day extension unless you have gotten one before for the entry you have been extending.

Your wife will need to be with you when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy, copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card. They may also want proof of residence.

Update: Yes they want - in Samui - proof of residence *in the form of Landlady's ID copy & House Reg copy*. Mail with my name & address + rental contract was not enough because we rent, not own. They said my wife doesn't have to come back with me. One more trip to Samui then :)

THank you, no I have not ever got extension, always just renew (truly, a re-do) the non-o yearly on Samui and address verification every 90 days.

I have the things I would need, that you've mentioned. Thank you very much @ubonjoe

  4. PLease help, I'm shaking in my sandals with uncertainty.

    The Story:

This year I can't prove income (due to a US employer illegally witholding my wages)

    My Non-O visa ends Dec.28th, 2015

I have a work permit offer for March 2016

I've renewed based on marriage the last 4 years

I have 2 children who are thai citizens as well

I am Canadian living on Koh Phangan with my family

    ****

    * It's been suggested I do a visa trip to Kota Bharu, Malaysia and apply for 90 day tourist visa. Comments? I'm scared to leave Thailand without knowing if I can get back in, to my family

    * Can I apply for 90 days extension in Nathon, Samui based on anything? Kids? Work permit offer for March? Anything other than proving income? (best possible option if possible)

    * Can I apply for 90 days extension based on an employers letter of intent to do me up a work permit in March?

Please help, this mess is seriously doing my head in.

    Thank you!

  5. I'm an eternal optimist... but

"In closing the meeting, Gen Chonasit and Patong Police Superintendent Col Jiraphat each donated 100,000 baht to the project."

Individuals whose job it is to enforce the laws... donated their own money to the infrastructure. Interesting. whistling.gif

  6. topic success! I feel rich with useful information and my confidence has gone from somewhat timid but open to adventure, to quite confident (while still prepared for unexpected adventure!)

It's great to hear the direct experience you guys have had with the trip ahead of me.

And great to have the form links!

    Very helpful. Thanks everyone.

  7. I will be flying on Lao air to Savanakhet tomorrow.

    2 questions

    1. Hotels with good internet (online job responsibilites) close to the Thai consulate?

    Any suggestions?

    2. I read in another post here "IMHO it's easiest to fly via Lao Air. It was more expensive but the flight only takes about an hour and a half. If you do choose this method, make sure that you have your transportation from the Savannakhet airport arranged."

If transportation can not be arranged at the site.... How? I don't get it.,,

  8. Vientiane looks attractive except one thing...

    Requirements say

For the purpose of accompanying spouse/family members, documents required are

    1. Copy of marriage certificate

    2. Copy of spouse’s ID card (in Thai)

    3. Copy of house registration book (in Thailand)

    4. Copy of bank statement (in Thailand)

    5. Other relevant document for example copy of child’s birth certificate / ID card

    Are they strict about #4?

I don't have a Thai Bank account as I get paid from Canada via direct deposit to a Canadian bank & live via my debit card.

I have proof of over 60,000 baht income via letter from employer + paystubs + online bank statement printouts.

  9. There would not be any need of border crossings for the one year extension is valid but if you stay longer than 90 days without leaving you do have to report your current address to immigration (can be done by mail most places) but if you travel often that may not even happen.

    Thank you.

So... i think this is my last question.

Since applying for the extension in BKK with Thai Immigration requires at least 15 days on the existing visa.... would a simply leaving then arriving by air and getting a 30 day tourist visa suffice?

This seems like a valid option yes?

  10. Thank you lopburi3, that is clear.

Are you sure you want to get the multiple entry visa instead of a 1 year extension at immigration? If you need to travel you can get a multiple re-entry permit when you get your extension for 3800 baht.

The income letter is enough to get the extension of stay.

    ubonjoe,

    No I am not sure.

If I leave Thailand and get a single entry visa, then get the 1 year extension at thai immigration (yes wife & I have all the required documents) will I be free of border runs?

If so, that's preferred, and I would get the multiple re-entry permit when extending with thai immigration.... as I do travel a lot.

  11. Only Savannakhet is locally currently known to issue without bank account for a multi entry - but you really only need a single entry and during the last 30 days extend for a year using Thai wife reason and the Embassy income paperwork if you want. Single entry will be issued anywhere with normal marriage certificate/copy of wife id card and home register.

Thank you. I'm interpreting this as go to Savannakhet and apply for Multi, but if end up with single - no problem.

Do you know the turn around time?

    Thanks

  12. Originally here on 1yr multi-entry non-imm o visa based on marriage.

Left for many months and returned after expiration of that visa, so now on my 60 day extension of the 30 day tourist visa.

I left it too long and don't have 15 days remaining... so it's been suggested I leave & apply for 1yr non-imm o outside the country..

    Where is best for me?

Which countries nearby issue this visa, and do not require 100,000 or 400,000 in the bank?

I have an affidavit from the Canadian Embassy in BKK showing over $40,000/mo income over many months.

I do not and will not be able to show 400,000 or even 100,000 in a Thai or other bank account.

I have no Thai bank account. I have a Canadian credit union account only, but it would back up the affidavit proving >40000/mo if needed.

Basically I have everything I would need to apply for this visa here in BKK, except for the 15 days - and am already on the 60 day extension.... anyone know if Pathum Thani immigration will extend again??? I know.... my bad.

    Thanks for your help.

  13. I was on the same kind of visa.

I just got a short letter from my Canadian employer and printed out my last 4 pay statements.

Went to and paid CDN embassy in Bangkok 1500 baht for the affidavit (the letter from them to whom it may concern @ Thai immigration)

The usual requirement is proving the last 3 months of over 40,000 baht income. This is proven by the embassy affidavit, but TIT - so I printed out my paystubs and bank statements for the last 4 months as well.

  14. THE ORIGINAL POST SHOULD BE CHANGED!!! People are responding as if it's true and it's total BS reporting.... it's not even reporting, it's fiction.

Mods - the op is completely wrong.... it reflects really poorly on this place to leave it as is.

Whoever initially wrote this should be fired for passing of fiction as news and for inciting hatred.
