  1. Power Buy as suggested. 22900 Bahtwith Free 12 months GPRS package that includes all your calls and internet usage.

Liked it so much that I ordered one.

Ready for delivery on Oct 22, 2010. Than straight on eBay and sell it for USD 1400.- Thailand is the first country in Asia where they will be sold

  2. Have forgotten wallets in Taxi's twice. Both returned. One was returned in a wrapped plastic bag thrown over the gate of the house. The other was brought back to my office.

Lucky as all money/ cards were untouched. I do however always tip taxis and speak polite to them making conversations and laughs. Some of them are real rough guys and you cant always strike lucky.

  3. I had some problems with the old highway tag as it couldn't be scanned through my windshield at the time (E38 7-Series). Also, IIRC member corkscrew had problems with his S-Class windshield. Dunno if these readers/scanners/passes are better, but I hope so - as on of my current cars has a windscreen with tons of tiny defrosters embedded into it, which may/may not be a problem - I guess I'll have to find out but if I have to end up waving my EasyPass out the window like I did with my old highway tag, well that's just a pain in the ass!

This system won't scan through my windshield (Range Rover MKIII - it also has those tiny defrosters embedded into it), it works with my wifes and Inlaws cars though (Merc S Class, not sure if it has the tiny defrosters imbedded into it). I suspect it might be the film I have (3M 30%).

I have to hold the tag out of the window when I pass through the toll gate, somewhat of a pain in the backside.

Edit: My Father in Law obtained my easy pass for me. As such I've really no idea what obtaining one entails.

No problems on both my Ferrari's. However when driving my Lamborghini the system is a bit slower. LOL

Now serious: I had my staff to get me one with copy of my ID and copy Blue book. No problems.

  4. We would like to hear from you if you are an investor in the Hyatt Regency Hotel Phuket (Phuket Peninsula). We are in touch with one other investor in this particular venture and also another investor in the Samui Peninsula. We are all in the same position of not receiving any replies to our e mails and we have not had our returns for 2 years now. We did receive returns in the first year of our investment but nothing since. If you would like to get in touch with us by e mail directly we can discuss further our thinking. The more investors we can find the more strength we will have if we cannot resolve the matter in an amicable way. My e mail is Have only just seen your post otherwise would have answered earlier.

Dear Jadeybug. We can share further correspondences on the Phuket Peninsula investment on ............ My financial advisor has been in discussions with them and is getting inneffective responses but she has made contact. Im also looking to enforce stronger action soon, perhaps legal, and its tough as I do not live in Thailand currently. The Quality Group is quite a large development group in the country so this behavior is surprising.

Dont mix The Quality Group up with the group that handles Q-House....Totally different.

Get a group of 20 plus together and go to the DSI on Sathorn road. Than it becomes a criminal case and things will go fast.

  5. go for iPhone 4;

slimmer and high capacity are 2 good reasons

I have the 3GS which works great. The service with true is amazing. Had 3 failures and all have been replaced by True without questions asked. However I wonder what will happen on the 4th time it stops working.

Have been looking at the New Samsung Galaxy S and those reviews are just amazing. I beats the Iphone 4 by far. Apparently the new Android software is doing very well.

  6. All timeshare tactics. Most are probably ex Laguna staff who use the same tactics. It all starts with filling in a survey at a coffee booth. Result: days and days getting phone calls. When turning up to receive your gift they will do anything in their power to get the deal!

Ok, its sales. And cant blame them wanting to sell you. Fair enough. Thats the way they make a living

  7. I have been in BKK for 6 years and used Chefxp, "room service" before chef xp, and food by phone as long as i have been here. Chefxp is cheaper but the service is not as good. Seeing owner talk here about banning people and being defensive rather than saying sorry and what can we do to improve shows why service is not so good at this company. I have had so many screw ups from chefxp over the years, that i really only use them if i want to order from a restaurant they only deliver for. otherwise i would rather pay the extra money to get my food delivered reliably and i know if i have a problem food by phone will resolve it. I have written emails to chefxp couple times over the years about service issues and most are ignored. Certainly never got anything free!

Owner of Chefxp should focus more on how they can improve service and spend time on that, rather than spending time being defensive on thaivisa.com - Really interesting case study of foodbyhone vs chefxp and how better service can outweigh better prices.

    JB

I cant really comment on being an ordering customer with either ChefsXP or FoodbyPhone as I have a restaurant myself. We have both these delivery services available for our customers. And although I should not reveal it, we do get more business from ChefsXP, so I do guess that most customers go with the cheaper option. As for wrong items delivered it also can be that this is the restaurants at fault. Its a simple mistake made by our staff at most cases. Happens at both delivery services. Does not happen a lot though!

Hope the above helps and gives you a bit more insight

  8. I love to speed on wide open highways with no side streets and I've never had an accident doing so, It's the idiots who speed in heavy traffic weaving in and out, or those who do it on smaller streets with many side streets that cause the problems. A good skillful driver who is speeding carefully is still better than a bad one wandering all over the road at a mind boggling slow speed and forcing everyone else on the road to try to get around him.

I would not even think about driving on the wrong side of the street or blowing through red signals like so many Thai drivers seem to do.

I love a "once a while" full throttle. Its good for the car as well if you are stuck in traffic most of the week. To me the worst drivers are those who drive well below the speed limit on the fast lanes! The overtaking on the inside is the dangerous part. But "hey hey" they just wont move. Mostly on inbound tollways with up country license plates.

  9. Read the small print and disclaimers from any of the international couriers. Read the small print and disclaimers on eBay as well. When you ship ANYTHING of ANY COMMERCIAL VALUE to ANY OVERSEAS country, you MAY be liable to locally levied duties and taxes. End of story. Just because you have pieces of paper saying it's broken means nothing to Customs agents anywhere. As you already pointed out, IF it is repairable, it's worth something. Customs agents know that as well.

DHL, FedEx and UPS's CORE business is shipping stuff globally so in order to stay in business and protect that revenue stream, they are COMPELLED to observe the law regards verifying what people say is in the package is actually in the package. Just because you pay +45 quid to ship something to a mate on the other side of the planet, the cost does NOT preclude your goods from inspection and being evaluated for any duties and tariffs, broken or otherwise.

If you have any questions, come back and post.

You are missing my point mate, the phone was to be sent back to the uk, also they want the 7750baht paid into a private bank account ( i have the bank account details ) .This is a little odd dont you think ..so to quote me the laws and customs here dont really tally .DHL are in on this for sure as the email is from them and dosent include their share/charges which is payable on delivery, ( which wont happen )

Why is the fact it was going to be sent back to the UK relevant? Dont get this...

Usually DHL will issue 2 invoices. One will be for their handling fee which is paid to them and one will be for import duty which, although they issue the charge advice, it is payable to a different account which is that of the Thai Customs.

How do you know this is a private account? Does it have someones name on it?

Yes ,its a private bank account and an individuals name,. and you can import temporarily which i asked for,

Forward your complaint direct to DHL Thailand. The funny thing is that I had the same happening to me. And as we speak K. Nui from DHL has been in touch with me on these matters. If you need more of her contact details I can forward them to you. Just PM me.
