There are many new houses in the upper part of Ao Nang. Just search through Soi 11 and 9. Also in Klong Haeng and Had Nopparathara you'll find new houses.Going prices are between 10'000 to 15'000 Bath per month. But you also find older houses for less than that.
Hi,
Thanks for the info, i will keep that in mind When we coem to Krabi next week to take a look around,

Hi all,
I currently live in Phuket and feel its time to move on, so i will be looking for a 2 bed detached house with garden in Krabi come June.
Where is the best place to find local rentals (avoiding Estate agents if possible)?
I will be coming over to Krabi next weekend for a look around the Ao Nang area so if anyone can give us a few pointers that would be awesome.
Many thanks

HI Guys,
All sorted.
It was a Thai that done it in the end, recommended by my English electrician friend.
There was an earth all ready here, he just attached the cable to the existing one but also put in new plug socket with ground wire too and its perfect
thanks

Hi, I have a lot of electrical gear which i use to make music and to do my work on but as there is no Earth here (grounding) in the plugs i was wondering if anyone here can do this or can explain to me how its done. I have all ready purchased a large metal rod, cable etc for creating a ground this way but i hate working with electricity especially when i am not sure what i am doing is correct. IS there an other way to get Earth here, can i buy 3 pronged plugs and create the earth that way by connecting an earth cable and attaching that to the metal rod in the garden? Many thanks, Mark

HI,
I would be happy to go fishing with you.,
I have fished from the viewing point (down from the large white windmill) and only caught 1 fish but it was very tasty.
I am still learning the lay of the land here, i have tried spinning, bait fishing, float fishing and am currently experimenting with small tuna threaded with wire trace for barracuda on promthep cape.
I am also open to going boat fishing, anything where i can catch fish for the freezer and p[lenty of them
Let me know if you want to "hook up" (sorry) and we can get right on it.

Hmm lots of you guys have CRAZY numbers flying around, here is my monthly breakdown MRGTINGTONG - I live in Phuket.
Monthly Rent - 13000 baht - 2 Bed Detached house with all round gardens
Electricity - 1000 baht
Internet - 650 Baht
Food - 10000 baht (includes eating out and going to pubs at weekend if i fancy it)
Fuel - 1000 baht (motorbike)
Washing - 1000 baht
So all in all i spend 26650 baht per month, lets call it 30,000 baht on all our living costs, yes this is for 2 PEOPLE and a dog.
So your £600 a month from your UK rent will take care of 29,499.16 of that which means you need to find 500 baht per month from your 3,000,000 baht savings.
Basically what you should take away from this is you can get a nice place here for the prices i mentioned above, and by the way i dont live in a busy area, i live in Kamala, its quiet, the sea is 2 minutes on the bike and i have immediate access to all shopping amenities, food vendors etc i could ever want.
You can, however, choose to spend the amounts people are talking about above but, as you said, you are looking for "the simple life" so 80,000 baht per month for gardeners and stuff like that, in my opinion, is crazy and who needs golf?
All joking aside you can asily find something WELL WITHIN your budget even in the more expensive places like phuket, it simple takes effort to look and also i would avoid buying a condo, why would you spend the extra cash when you could get a lovely 2,3 or even 4 bed house for half the cost?
Anyway good luck and if i can help in any other way give me a private message and i will try my best.
Mark
