1. Hi. You said you are going to be flying out of many different airports, mainly once a week.

    My husband and I used to work for BA, and did a commute from Hampshire.

    If your child is only 3 years old, and your travelling requirements are on a weekly basis, I would suggest you look slighly further affield.

    Rail links, National Express buses and motorways are good within a very large radius of London.

    London is NOT like Bangkok. That is an important factor to remember.

    And then, as has been suggested Look for your scholing/playgroup. If the area is reasonable, and your home is good to live in you are halfway there, If your unhappy

    with the area and home but happy with the school, its not a good solution. As your child is so young, in my opinion, schooling should be 2nd on your list,

    find a good place to live and start from there............

    I am in the UK until end of October if I can be of any help..........just PM me and I will be happy to do anything I can.:jap:

    Good luck
I wonder if they will identify the 150b international transaction ATM fee as being unfair?!...somehow I think not!

or the charge they make you pay for changing small change into notes, and the fee i was once charged for paying in 3000 baht in small change into my account, apparently to pay for the time and energy taken to count the money that was already counted and bagged ready for the teller to put it on their money scales.

International fee is beyond Bank of Thailand jurisdiction.
Anyway, you people can afford it.

I resent the remark made by you ' anyway you people can afford it'!! How dare you be so patronising!
The rate of 150baht charge is a high fee to withdraw money, and seems to be aimed at foreigners who need to regularly use the ATM to access their overseas accounts.
3. On the topic of retirement visas. My Husband and I have been in Thailand almost permanently since 2003, returning to uk annually to renew visas and return. We have been back in the UK several months now, and will return and apply for residency/retirement visa's.

    We plan to move to CHiang Mai and get away from the hustle and bustle on BKK. My question is this;

    If we have residency/ retirement visa's is it possible to do voluntary work on these visa's, or do you hav to apply for something else. We dont want to do paid work, so a work permit is not the answer. I know on an ordinary 'ED' visa issued in UK you can do voluntary work if you have a covering letter from the agency. But at tis moment in time, not even sure where we will live let alone which agency we will try and work for!:rolleyes: Any tips/ advice gratefully received, Kap un ka!!
