  1. sent an EMS world box (size D) yesterday, full of CD's, about 8kg. 1400b, with tracking about a week to Canada.

just to reiterate, I was told absolutely no liquids of any kind allowed (teller said it won't get past the scanner), but they also said that they will be getting a list soon of countries where it is permissible....

  2. Just want to make sure the Ed-visa will take me to the end of June 2016 when I will return to Canada again.

    Thanks!

If you able to get a multiple entry non-ed visa it will be valid for entry for a year and will give unlimited 90 day entries. You would have to leave the country every 90 days for a new entry.

If you are only planning on a single entry visa and then get 90 day extensions of stay at immigration you may get one year of total stay from the date you enter the country. But that will dependent how many hours of study you pay for and the school you are attending.

Thanks, yes it will be single entry with 90 day extensions done by the school. Once the visa is issued in Canada, does the clock starts ticking or is it from when I enter Thailand? Even still if I get it in July that will take me to July 2016 which should be fine.

  3. Aside from books, I want to send 2 small monitor speakers, and lots of old cassette tapes, a few VHS tapes, and a box of CD's. Would it be 'safe' to send these via the Thai post office? I know they have different rates, and while speed is not important, I do need to make sure these will actually arrive. Don't want to pay UPS 12k for 3 day delivery, 30kg...

Flying out next month on Southern China Airlines, over-weight and extra luggage fees are pricey.

    Thanks

  4. Thanks! Aside from books, I want to send 2 small monitor speakers, and lots of old cassette tapes and a few VHS tapes, and CD's. Would it be 'safe' to send these this way by land?

  5. Great thanks! I know there is also one at Tonglor which might be even easier. Those little EMS outlets like at lotus onnut there, do they have the same thai postal service, or more expensive?

  6. Where is the closest post office from BTS Onnut? I saw a little postal booth at the entrance to Lotus from the BTS on the 2nd floor. Sending 3-4 boxes of books, I have no idea how much these will weigh, but see on the thai post office site that 30kg is 4600.B to Canada.

Flying out on China Southern Airlines in 6 weeks, saw they have a cargo site, but not if they send smaller amounts around the time of your flight.

Also looked into Seven Seas from Bkk to Canada, couldn't get a quote off their site and haven't heard back from them yet, but their rates are also reasonable.

    Thanks

  7. Thanks, yes that was what I was concerned about. I understand that I will receive a letter that is good for 1 month, in which time the application must be made outside the country. Will the consulate in Canada take into consideration that I won't be returning to Thailand until September? I can ask the school to send me the paperwork in August, in which case is there anything that I need to do before I leave?

I also understand that I must go to do a speaking test here in Bkk, as it is my 2nd ed-visa, so would I go through with that here?

    Thanks again!
