  1. It was at Kawasaki showroom on Rama 9 in Bangkok, I'm not sure if they are still selling from there or not. It was through Ratchathani(sp?) finance. 3 years ago now.

But yes I only put 30% down on my Ninja, no guarantor, in my name.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
  2. A buddy of mine recently bought a new Ducati with 50% down and he had issue with them wanting a Thai guarantor, he has a work permit money here, but his purchase was delayed for 2 months and he was ready to pull out and lose the deposit over it, eventually they agreed.

I had no problem with Kawasaki when I purchased my Ninja a few years back, put down the 30%, work permit, no guarantor, when I just recently bought my Harley, 50% down they wanted a guarantor as well, but accepted my wife who doesn't work, after some negotiation. We do own a house a well, but really Kawasaki was a lot easy for me than Harley and Ducati for my buddy.

  3. I was at Safari World a couple weeks ago, just under 600baht for Thai's don't remember the exact figure, but 1200baht for foreigners. However the nice lady there asked if I lived in Thailand, I said yes, and she charged me the Thai price. Younger children were free, but I don't remember the cutoff, we had our daughter 18 months she was free, and my wife's cousin who is 15 was charge adult Thai price.

DreamWorld I really don't remember it has been a number of years since we were there.

  4. While we are on the discussion on heading to Rayong, how about from Hua Hin? Would prefer to bypass Bangkok as well, I imagine I have to circle about Bangkok around Nakhon Pathom?? But would this keep me out of Bangkok? I have no problems going through Bangkok but would like to avoid it, I have never ridden my bike to Rayong just my truck so need some advice.

    Thanks.

  5. They have more colours than green, the burnt orange, and black are both really nice, and they are both great bikes to ride. But if they don't "flick your bean" then I guess I can't help.

    Good Luck....

Did you check out the Versys? More than 250,000 but also really nice to ride, more comfortable for taller people, and the same engine.

  6. When we moved here we shipped a full 40 foot container of furnishings and personal belongings and ran into the same problem. It took a couple of years to build our house so in the meantime we had to rent a three bedroom house just to have two bedrooms to store the stuff we brought over until our home was finished.

We rented a 2 bedroom house, I guess we should have rented a 3 bedroom house. Our 2 bedroom condo in Bangkok was bigger. My problem now my Dad is moving, and I have been storing things there for the last few years and he would like it gone now, plus my tools and toolbox will be coming, and that will use a lot of space.

  7. Yes, seatbelt buckles hot, leather warm but I have never got burnt on it, or to uncomfortable.

My Vigo has real leather, never seen fake leather, not in Malaysia either.

The Vigo's in Malaysia look the same but the markings are a little different, ie: the side markings on the side of the box, and the 3 litres are rare, mostly they are 2.5's with 4 wheel drive.

  8. I am in a position that is close to this but not entirely the same, I am not retiring, or old enough to retire.

I have been working in Thailand with a work permit, extension of stay and multiple entry for a number of years, but in January I will stop working for the Thai company and go back working for a Canadian company, working overseas in numerous locations, not Canada, but will continue living here with my wife (Thai).

My extension of stay is good until September 2011, but my work permit will be cancelled, what will I be required to do to keep my extension of stay and multiple entry permit? Will I have to have it cancelled and apply for a "O" visa, and then redo the extension of stay, and multiple entry or can I just notify immigration I am no longer working for the Thai company but that I am making money in Canada and married to a Thai?

    Thanks.

  9. It was the same with my wife's interview, very short, and they did not look at my passport, workpermit, or bank account information, they just asked her questions from the letter I wrote them, so I was glad she read it. She also requested Thai, and the interview was in English.

    1. How long have you been married?

    2. Is your husband an Amercian?

    3. Does your husband work in Thailand?

    4. Where are you going in the US?

    5. How long are you staying for?

Then okay we will send you your passport in a few days.

She said a lot of people were turned down, they seemed to be either people that did not answer the questions correctly, provide enough information, or were working ladies.

  10. I had the same problem with getting my wife an appointment, I just kept checking back everyday, as many times as I could. I got a little worried myself and emailed the Embassy, no response. But after about 2 or 3 weeks of checking everyday a week opened up. Then I booked the appointment and she had to wait a couple of weeks not long before the appointment, and was approved, we leave next Friday.

Just keep checking, if it is like my situation you will get a date. Just have a little patience, I know it is frustrating I was there too.

    Good luck.

  11. There are actually many Thais that do not know that a Farang can own a car in his own name.

When I bought my first car in my name my secretary was surprised that I was able to do so, she didn't believe it was possible until I showed her the blue book with my name in it.

Although in your example it seems that your friends wife knew full well it's possible and was just lying to him.

There were actually a couple woman in my office too that were surprised that I could buy my truck in my name as well. I figured they should know that but I get the impression sometimes that they really do not know what Farangs can or cannot do. My friend's wife did know, and yes she was quite shocked that my wife wouldn't tell me that I couldn't, but she also didn't realize I understand more Thai than she thinks and have heard numerous things come out of her mouth that I am shocked by.

Thules, thanks, I think she is admirable in more ways than just being honest with me.

  12. I have a friend whose wife told him that he cannot have a car in his name, and he never did the research to find out he could. Then when I bought my truck and put it in my name my friend's wife was asking my wife why it is in my name not hers and why she didn't tell me that I couldn't do that. Her response was that it is my truck not hers, and why would she want to do that?

Maybe our friend here is one of those guys who never did the research and was told he couldn't do it.

  13. I am not sure you can, not living or working in Thailand. My wife bought the property with cash, outright, and now we are in the process of getting the mortgage from SCB to build the house. They are appraising the value of the land, and the house we have designed, and then they will give us 70% of the total value, but the first question they asked us if I am working here do I have a work permit and if I am being paid here. I am getting paid a portion of my salary here and the rest in Canada.

However, with that said, they did say that if I used my Canadian salary, then they would give us 50%. So it is worth talking to a bank, but you will not get as much as you might like.

  14. I have been getting them continuously as well, they are coming non stop, they started calling my mobile, I have no idea how they go that, and then they started calling my office, the girl at reception had told them I am out of town after I had already told them I am not interested and that I was not in Bangkok so they tried finding out where I was to set up an appointment at my location. They were calling 4-5 times a day and I quit answering the phone, they called again this morning so I answered it and was very rude to her and told her to stop harassing me (plus a few other words) and to take no for answer.

I am not on our companies website, nor does my name show up anywhere for my company.

  15. I mentioned in another post today that it took me three weeks of checking everyday for an appointment time for my wife, I would check numerous times everyday until finally one day I saw a week open in July and booked immediately. I was getting pretty frustrated too, and thinking it was never going to happen. Just keep checking on a regular bases everyday, as many times throughout the day and or night as mentioned above.

    Good luck.

  16. ...Keep in mind that it may not be as easy as you think to get your wife to the US even on vacation. You not being a US citizen and knowing no one that can vouch for her is going to be your major barrier.

Actually, the OP not being a US Citizen living in Thailand probably helps his chances. A US citizen applying has to get over the preception they may be trying to get around the immigration process, which is not an issue for a non-citizen.

    TH

That is exactly what I thought, and was my case, we do not show we have any intention of staying there, just a vacation.

I have two friends who are living in the US, but do not work in the US, one is working in Malaysia, the other here in Thailand, and they both had trouble getting their girlfriend/wife tourist Visa's to the States, the US immigration said that they are coming to live, and are good prospects as "runners". They eventually got them but under strict conditions but the process for both of them took over a year. Both of them spend less than 6 months a year in the US, and the majority of their time working overseas.

My wife's was done and approved in a month, the longest part just getting an interview.
