  1. Hey! Just had a 28mm Kehin (NSR) carb put on my bike, and am having idle problems.

Is there a correct way to jet the carb. Or is there someone in Chiangmai who REALLY knows how to set up a carb.

(I won't be going to Honda on Huey Keow, as he rebuilt my engine when all I needed was a new CDI).

Seriously - who is the best for carb setup in Chiangmai?

Sorry I cannot help, but will be very interested in it. I'm thinking of doing this mod next month, I currently run on an aftermarket pipe and airfilter. I have a very good, competant Honda dealership who say they can do it for me (in Bangkok though).

How much did it cost? Think it's about 2,000b or so in the Honda dealership, but they need to do some extra work too right? Something to do with the throttle?

    Cheers chaps.

    Dominic.

Yes.. you need a quick pull throttle.

  2. Helmet -

While we attend APHonda, let me, please, thank Nikster for directions to a shop in Chiang Mai which sells (among many, many, other things - mostly to Thais) Real Helmets.

I was allowed to try on several sizes and types (Dot, ECE) and finally asked for a color (white - I'm see and be seen) and in the shuffle was asked to pay 12,500 for helmet and an extra visor.  I was so delighted that I forgot to negotiate, as the first Real's I saw were only 12,000.  I find with little testing that the optics and air exchange are very good indeed.

Place is E from the moat on Chang Moi Road, just - as indicated - before the slight bend to the left, on the right side.  I'm sure there are other places in town, but this one avoids mails and allows testing for size.  Thanks,

I hope to God that the prices in RED ARE A TYPO. CMX you surely meant you PAID 1,500 baht instead of 1,000b...........:whistling::D

  3. "Just hope its a decent bike not some washed out underpowered shopping trolley."

This is what i believe it will be. AP Honda have NO idea about the big bike market in Thailand. Kawasaki's bikes are actually ideal ALTHOUGH it would be nice to have an unfaired 250 with a normal seat in the range.

(i am really hoping that one of the new Honda bike's WILL be a VTR250.At 144,000b or less)

  4. No VTR coming but a CBR250RR with FI will be released around 31/10/10 for approx 150,000k.

    http://www.twowheels...europe-for-2011

Isn't this an important part of the article you linked to?

According to reports the CBR250RR could be brought to Europe next year, after establishing itself as a successful model in its class in Japan.

I haven't read anything about there being a current model year CBR250 in Japan. That article seems long on speculation (for instance it thought that the bike could use the CRF engine-ugh!-or the VTR's engine). Really doesn't have anything more concrete than anything else in this thread I guess.

The link was only so people could see a picture of the bike, it wasn't where I got my information from just a few hours ago and as the article is a year old then the actual info in it should be ignored. The CBR250 with Fuel Injection WILL be available from around 31/10/10....concrete!

skyblue... what's it going to be? Single, twin, triple, four cylinder. If you have concrete info then you should know this!

For your information the last Cbr250rr was a 4 cylinder sports bike with a 19,000rpm redline. If its that one resurrected and modernised then i would be all over it for 150,000b. If on the other hand its a single cylinder thing like in the picture it's going to be a waste of space. So more 'concrete' info please. biggrin.gif

  5. The bike has never  had the green book. If the bike is registered ie has a number plate then it has a green book

About the LTO, I was meaning that as it have a plate, it was probably registrated there. Then it has a green book

According to the owner it was. How, I don't know. He also  told me, that we have to go there to change the ownership. Then it has a green book

But maybe the plate is just a fake.... Possibly. if so walk away

I know there have been, and are, many "grey" bikes at the market. So this is sure one of them. Grey bikes still have plates and green books, you need to check the book carefully that the numbers and info match.

In my search for a big motorbike, there have been mentioned "city tax". About 12k THB. What exactly is that? Dont know. guessing the 3%customs tax if no plate/greenbook.

Is this common for every bike, every city? No. only unplated dodgy bikes

    Cheers

I altered your post because it was easier. hope you do not mind.

Mate honestly you have been posting for a few days, just ask the bloody bike seller 'do you have a green book for this bike' if yes do the transfer and buy it. If no walk away. Easy really.

Also as per Kata's post. if it has not been insured or taxed for a few years you have to pay upto date. if it has not been taxed for 5 years you need to apply for new copy green book.

  6. Kirk. Are you sure its not telling you that you were in the wrong lane to turn right, Thats why you got the ticket. And yes i know people do it all the time but maybe the BIB are trying to stamp it out. '

I know my local BIB gets very angry when cars do it here at a big set of lights and actually pulls cars over or tells them to go up to the next u-turn biggrin.gif

  7. Waiing is respect and manners, Scott.

The issue of being a bit of a bull in the classroom has to do with stopping them from stereotyping the falang teacher. With them watching western movies, tv and games, they assume we are all the same.

If you do not control the classroom on the first day of class, you lose them for the rest of the year.

JAIYENYEN. I will not respond to your personal attack.

I kinda agree with these statements.

I work in a school that uses the English lessons as extra activity time if they so choose eg canceling English for scouts or something similar.

Also as they come from their normal classroom to the language block, some students think its holiday/break time. So from day one i lay down the rules, How can you conduct a lesson when the students do not bring a pen or notebook?

Also in a country that regards 'chair ball' as a valid PE sport a little extra exercise does not hurt.

  8. I did some more searching and found this Dept of Land and Transport interactive site.

Just click the English tab and Rules of the Road area.

Page 12 in it pretty much says you have to be in the left lane unless there's an obstruction or the left lane is less than 6 meters in width.

Page 14 says you should overtake to the right.

Page 15 says left overtaking is possible but the explanations are cut off, of course.

I guess I'll just carry the ThaiLaws.com translation and try to talk myself out of tickets better.

TT... Nothing in there about bikes. They are just normal every road user rules. Some good spellin mistakes. Thanks for posting though, will help the missus with her test.

  9. Hi everybody. The thread title says it all.

How much is a Canon Powershot SX10is worth.

It was purchased in early 2009. And it is very good condition. It comes with a Kingston 8gb sdhc card, 4 recharable batterys, instruction/software on CD (canon website download), neckstrap, carry case, lens cap and a nice tripod.

    I'm thinking 12,000 baht.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks.
