And then there's pre-existing conditions which will never be covered. Personally the chances of me needing a long term hospital stay would pretty much be related to pre-existing. 50kbht + pa wasted on a health policy that I couldn't use. If 'risky' persons, of which I'm one, are to foot these so called unpaid bills how about letting me legally pay into the Thai health system as a requirement for my long stay and of course have the use of the service as a Thai.

Problem I've found is the insurance companies mentioned so far in the scheme will never include pre-existing medical conditions, probably a very good reason I would need a hospital stay would be due to pre-existing conditions which are currently medicated and I self insure..
So, personally, it would be mean buying insurance which I could probably never use.
I would prefer to contribute to the Thai health system yearly not some fat cat private health company. All it would take is an additional document, showing payment into the health authority, when I renew my extension.

OP states, "The family have put 800,000 baht in the bank and Mrs Padgett could stay to February next year. " And after that if the 800k is in the bank...?
Sorry, I feel for the woman with her illness but as Immigration say rules is rules. If they bend them for one the floodgates open
Think I'll go cap in hand to my local Immigration office, the exchange rate drop means I don't quite meet the required 65k pm.... I'm sure they'll be accommodating and bend the rule for me......

Has anyone seen a price for the 300 yet ??
Plus, when are they going on sale !!
Two local dealers in Udonthani have quoted a price between 120 and 140,000 and state not in the showrooms til June at the earliest.
Would be interesting to hear other price quotes round the country.

I would agree with Dick T, the clock may well be ticking for multiple issues of non O visas, won't know til it happens.
I went down the 'leave the country every 90 days and go out of the country for a new visa every 15 months' for 5 years, finally decided to up it to a marriage extension. Feel a bit more settled personally and we can take trips as and when we want.

A friend of mine spoke yesterday with a guy from Honda Bigwave Udon, he said probably not available until June of this year. But he also said the unrest in Bangkok isn't helping production......? Why, no idea perhaps all the workers are on the protest marches..

Just skimmed through this thread and didn't find, maybe I missed it, if the CBR 300 is available in Thailand yet and if so what's the price tag on it?. I live outside of Udonthani, have asked a myriad of bike stores in and around and get a lot of blank looks and snotnosed sales guys trying to sell me the 250..
