Ranked #2 in deaths in the world.
I rented a car a few times in my travels in Thailand. My last trip to Thailand, I drove 3000 KM in 5 days. This includes Phuket. I watched people drive like morons and I watched accidents occur everywhere. Most notably, trucks turned on their sides because they refuse to slow down to make a turn. Watch those trucks with all of their pretty lights drive around turns way too fast and flip onto their sides. At that time, I had a Thai girlfriend and I let her drive the rental car. Horrible experience. She would just barely pass the car in the other lane and cut over causing the other person to brake quickly. Mai pen rai, I guess. Terrible terrible terrible drivers. The roads in Thailand are a jungle. If you live there, buy yourself the biggest vehicle you can afford because you will be involved in an accident and you want to survive. And of course, it should go without saying, it will be your fault if you are not Thai.
My friend who lives there broke his leg after he was hit by a truck (Thai driver) who made an illegal turn. My friend (not Thai) had to pay for the damages to the truck that hit him. All I can do is laugh. Thailand is a joke.

This must be a joke. I have introduced Thais to the book store (apparently, they don't frequent them) and offered to buy some/any books and the reaction was like I was going to pull their teeth. Lead a horse to the pond...but this headline is complete BS.

Serious question...is there ever an accountability for the driver who had someone die under his/her responsibility? Does the driver show up for their next shift tomorrow and "try" again? Somehow, I miss the aftermath of these events, so then I wonder...are there are any consequences after an incident like this?

I'm not sure what TNT is. Is there any way to get something valuable insured for shipping out of Thailand. It did not have to be FedEx but I thought there was a location for shipping out with FedEx. I just need a way to insure and I guess the carrier isn't all that important.

I found some older information here about FedEx in and around KK. I am not in KK at the moment and I'm looking for more up-to-date information. Is there somewhere in KK to ship a package via FedEx in KK to the US? I'm looking to ship something of value out of KK to the US and want to be sure that it is insured to the destination.
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Strange. I'm here in Phuket on holiday and have been out all day. Did not see or hear anything. Spent most of my day in and around Patong, but also Karon Beach.

Its not called Swampy for nothing ! Seriously though I doubt anyone can say anything with any certainty. The airport can be OK but staff still have to get there to work etc, supplies need to get through.
That's a good point. I guess I am just wondering if there could be cancellations that could throw off the schedule leaving me stuck as well. I guess I will find out when i get there. I have not been in Thailand during the rainy season before so I'm not sure what to expect.

Just curious, I am flying into Suvarnabhumi on Thursday night. I have not seen any mention about the airport. Could there be a problem there next week? From there, I am flying to Khon Kaen, which I have not heard much about lately either.
Schwarzenegger quits 'Celebrity Apprentice' over show's Trump ties

Watching this show with my wife, I told her I felt that Arnold was not returning. He talked about himself so much to make a point that I could not imagine him returning for a second season to repeat those same stories. If the show continues, I think the host will change each season. For me, it was set up that way this year and Arnold not returning is not a surprise to me.
