  1. Looking for football players aged 18+ to play around Bangkok (male and female).

We play three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday around Bangna and Sathorn. The group is organised via Meetup.com (Meetup app on store) and called Bangkok Football Meetup and all the information is on there, if you're interested check it out.

Games are competitive but fun, 7 a side. Skill level isn't that important but this probably isn't ideal for complete beginners.

  4. Afternoon
I am seeking some ISP advice.
Just moved into a condo in Thong Lo area that only allows ToT as opposed to True - at the moment it has cut out roughly once or twice every hour. Is this normal with ToT? I think I just have a ADSL connection; would it be more stable if I can get a Fiber Optic ToT connection? I know Fiber Optic offers extra speed; but not sure if it will be more stable with the constant disconnects.
Beforehand I have used True and found them super reliable.
Am I just going through a bad patch of service? Or does anyone else have similar experience or advice on what I can do regarding getting a stable connection?

    Thanks for reading

  5. So yes - I have been in contact with a surveying company and they are willing to do it for around 6000 baht - I also read the sticky assessing a condos condition with had lots of good tips in (http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/654322-assessing-a-condos-condition-structure-leakagesetc/).

Has anyone any experience with the property lawyers here? In particular Interactive (www..com) - they were one of the English speaking lawyers that have been recommended to me.

I do know of Siam Legal but the prices they quoted were over double that of Interactive.

Happy to recommend if required but I think my choices will be more than you are willing to go if you think Siam are expensive.

I have never heard of this firm but can only advise you that cheap rarely means good. Of course it doesn't mean bad either but if a firm does a good job it doesn't need to be cheap to attract business.

Go with a firm that has been recommended from direct experience of whoever is doing the recommending.

Having said all of that if the condo is a Foreign Freehold under the a Condominium Act it should be quite clear cut. If it involves a lease or series of leases safeguard yourself with a decent lawyer, or better still find another one that is on a Foreign Freehold.

    Hey SDM

Yeah I would like to hear recommendations from people here too as I don't know too many firms myself - I don't have too many friends here who can offer me recommendations.

I will be contacting the agent if the condo is Foreign Freehold or not then go from there and report back here.

    Thanks again

  7. KK those are some solid points

The last few days I have looked at over 6 different condos I am interested in.

I have found a unit I liked in Thong Lo and will be going back for a second viewing next week.

Has anyone experience with a property lawyer here in BKK? I have heard of Siam Legal but never used the service...any feedback on them?

The building isn't the newest so I thought about a surveyor. I know in the UK it's common to have a property surveyed by a professional so a realistic value can be put on the property - is that also the same in Thailand? I tried looking on google but couldn't find any website offering that service.

I will imagine I need the owners permission before I bring in a surveyor - I will be unable to rent there beforehand because the unit currently has tenants however they seemed happy being there which I guess is a positive thing.

  8. Guys thanks for all the advices that are being offered here - I do find the opinions helpful.

Of course I want to take time deciding the decision to purchase my first home - especially being abroad from my home country.

As for the area I saw someone questioning I am going for Thong Lo (I have rented here for 2 years and really enjoy what the area offers).

This week I will be doing some scouting with some agents - I went today and noticed the juristic office only being able to show me 2 units in one building. Though when I went back later the agent I used was able to show me units the juristic people didn't have available - is that normal in Thailand?

Also as for the juristic office in general have people found management at high rise large condos or small builds generally better?

Regarding mortgages I have come into contact with MBK Guarantee Co. that arrange mortgages for farangs - has anyone any experience with dealing with them?

Finally an agent stated to me that if I was to buy a condo it should be for at least 5 years - when I questioned this the agent didn't seem to explain it very well just with an answer along the lines of "tax".

I will keep this thread updated and hope to gain more insight here.

    Thanks

  9. Hi everyone

I am originally from the UK but have been staying in Thailand now for more than 5 years and am thinking about purchasing a condo here to stay. As I am sure I plan to stay the foreseeable future.

Would anyone recommend some things to look out for when I am going to inspect the condos? As this will be the first every property I will be purchasing.

A friend of mine has mentioned I should look out for the maintenance cost on some places being high he also mentioned about getting a mortgage.

How would I go about getting a mortgage here? Is it possible? I have read it's possible to get one through having a bank account in Singapore - which I haven't got at present.

Also would there be any problems with me being on ED Visa while purchasing property?

    Really appreciate any advice

  10. Read another post - got abit confused on where on Wireless Road I can buy them?

Does anyone have a contact number? I've tried googling Herman Miller Wireless Road but no luck; I know they are in Apple for 50k but I think I remember reading there avalible alittle cheaper elsewhere?

    Thanks

  11. Thanks for all the replies guys

Yeah def a huge gap in the market - I am looking for something that provides the 2560x1600+ resolution.

The Apple seems an expensive choice - I saw Samsung 30" monitors were suggested; could you kindly recommend me a website or store location in BKK that I could pick them up?
