Is the grand opening still on for this weekend?

Our neighbor has recently acquired 2 Pitbulls. We live in a housing community where a lot of kids play outside and while both look dangerous, one seems especially angry towards kids when they run past. The problem is, the fences in our housing community are not that high. I've had dogs all my life and I can imagine these Pitbulls could jump over the fence if one day they want to. I sometimes see them standing up over the fence with half of their bodies already above it.
So, the question is ...are Pitbulls even legal in Thailand?
I found this article that suggests they are:
https://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/learning-news/280893
But it also says they are required to wear muzzles when in public places. I don't think the neighbors fenced property is a public place, but I'm really a bit worried that one day a child will get attacked and die. -
these are the best 3 restaurants in ubon: spago (italian), peppers (german), outside inn (mexican). spago is moving now to a new location so be sure to check before you go.

so relieved to hear spagos isn't closing after all! i was really worried when I heard that its for sale. more parking is fantastic news. that was always a problem at the current location.
too bad the new location is even further away from us than the old spago but good to hear you're working on better delivery. we love spagos but driving 12 miles (we're way up in kamyai) just to go eat and go back home is not always an option. wife called twice to order with your courier service but each time the pizza came late and cold so we stopped ordering. hoping that you'll deliver with ubonhero. so much faster and the food always arrives hot.
will franco still be making the pizza? i think the pizza tastes that good because its made by an authentic italian chef. if you're open to suggestions i would like to see a bigger import beer selection and please open ALL DAY so that if we're going to central 3pm we can stop by for a good meal.
and will there be a grand opening party?

Our family stayed at the T3 Hotel before we moved into the house. No complaints!

There's lots of computer shops at the Sunee mall. Pretty sure one of them can do it for you.

I currently have a 5 year drivers license that's expiring in 3 weeks. What documents do I need to renew it?
I'm on a 1-year multiple entry non-immigrant visa (not extended, I leave and come back every 3 months). Can I still get a "residence confirmation" letter from immigration? I assume that's needed plus passport sized photos? Anything else?
Thanks -

- Exit asap at the border.
- He will pay 500 baht for every day overstayed.
- There should be no problem re-entering.
makes sense. thanks a lot
<removed>
he's been here for 18 years. has a wife, 2 kids. never overstayed a day. his kid was in the hospital emergency room for 2 weeks and he forgot.
i'm simply trying to help him, but thanks for the helpful advice. you really made a difference.

a friend of mine just noticed that he overstayed his visa for 3 days. he's got a multiple entry visa that's still valid for 6 months. he's in the northeast and would exit to laos. what's the best action for him to take? report to immigration in sisaket or go to the border and exit and re-enter? should be expect any problems re-entering? it's his first overstay or first visa violation ever.

wow, I'm (not?) surprised to see so many people with the same problems. we'll definitely go and talk with the housing company on monday and possibly with the police. i'm not afraid of bribing them as long as they take action. it's thailand after all, it'll probably take at least a bribe for them to have the will to act.
sometimes i'm close to filling a bucket of water, walking over there and throwing it on his fire. i hope he doesn't pull out a gun if i do that, though he seems quite peaceful.
-
Have you tried talking to him yet?
We did. He says he's just burning garbage and making coal ..in other words no big deal.
-
First of all, I know that burning things is "normal" in Thailand. But my family and I bought a house for 3 million Baht in a closed housing community and about a month after moving in the guy with a small farm right next to it started burning fires on a daily basis. One day he's burning his trash, the next day he's burning wood to make coal, etc. We have a nice place to sit outside and we can't use it because we would be getting smoke poisoning, I'm not joking. It's that bad. Sometimes we can't see further than 100 meters because the smoke is so thick and we have to keep all the windows closed day and night to prevent the smoke from coming into the house. Even with that, the house smells of smoke all day. We can't even turn on the aircon at night because otherwise the smoke comes in that way. I've had to go to the hospital twice now because of asthma (never had it before in my life) and we have a 2 year old who's also coughing all day.
I remember hearing a few months ago that Gen. Prayut said that farmers wouldn't be allowed to burn fires anymore to lower the pollution. What happened to that?
More importantly ..is there anything we can do?

the letter from the embassy is in english that confirms the monthly pension. Is it needed to translate this into thai or is english good enough? This is for phibun (ubon) immigration.
-
It really depends on the immigration officer. Some don't care about it and others are grumpy. I once had an immigration officer send me back home to take new photos because our dog was sitting on the sofa. Yes, no joke.

I am currently in Thailand on a marriage visa, but there is an internet company that wants to hire me. I only have high school education. GED actually, which is the US equivalent of high school and also accepted by Thailand as such. Now, I read this thread from 2011:
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/477081-new-work-permit-requirements-from-the-labor-department/
Where Sunbelt said that a university degree is required to get a work permit, but on the next 12 pages there was no clarification. I realize that post was 4 years ago and the rules may have changed since.
What's the current status? Is a university degree required to get a work permit? Or will high school education be enough? The company that wants to hire me says they don't require me to have a university degree and that they are satisfied with my skills.

I suggest writing multiple to the right of where you select the visa type since the form does not have a space for number of entries.
Putting one year would also work.
will do that! thanks a lot
great, thanks so much! I guess i'll fill out the application now and print it here. less waiting time at the consulate!
for the intended duration on the application form, do you just write "1 year" to get a multiple entry?
-------------------------------------------
It may work.....but WHY do you need a multiple entry 1 year visa?
I'm not being critical, but if they ask you that question can you give them a valid reason why you need a multi-entry visa?
Other than it is more convenient for you to have an one year visa from outside of Thailand by way of a Thai consulate rather than by applying for a one-year marriage extension at your local immigration office in Thailand?
How would you answer such a question if they asked you it?
i would answer it with the truth. my wife and i just bought a house (cash) AND we had a baby. i don't have the 400k to extend it in the bank right now. i should have it in about 4-5 months though.

I'm going to get a multi-entry "O" visa based on marriage from Savannakhet next week. Haven't been there for like 3 years but I read that they have a new Consulate now and the process is a bit different. Back then you got the visa the same day but now I believe it's the next day? If I read correctly, you have to submit the application before 11am now and then pick it up at 2pm the next day. Is that correct?
For paperwork, back then all I needed was my passport, 2 passport photos, marriage certificate, wife's ID card and tabien baan (copies of everything). My wife and baby will be coming with me. I assume this time I also need the baby's original birth certificate? Is there anything else I'm missing?
Thanks -
You could get a 7 day extension if you need more time to go out for a new visa entry.
If that's possible then I'll get that done. Will be less hectic for me. Thank you!

Hello guys. It's me again who asked this question 2 months ago. I ended up getting the 60 days extension but I need an additional week if possible due to a medical emergency in the family and I don't want to travel to Laos this coming week, otherwise it's going to be extremely stressful. Is there a way to get another extension on top of the 60 days extension I got? I think I read somewhere that I could get another 7 days extension (and that would be the last one). That would be enough.

i remember a kor ror document from the amphur where you got married is required for extending your marriage visa at chaeng wattana, showing that you're still married. is that document also needed to get a multiple entry visa from savannakhet? or is the marriage certificate enough? if you got a baby i assume you also need to bring the birth certificate.
what's the current situation at savannaket?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

thanks :) i remember a few years ago they wanted a document from the amphur proving that you're still married to your wife. is that still needed? or just the marriage certificate will do?
