  1. Gentlemen, remiss of me not posting this sooner. Thank you so much your constructive suggestions.

I hooked the dead battery up to reasonably charged much larger battery neg to neg and pos to pos and left them for 12+hours.

Disconnected then hooked up to charger and VOILA accepting charge.

I now have a miliamp  similar to Ctech permanently attached to the battery. Gen set easy start. All would have been easier if I had volt metre.

Problem solved thanks heaps you good fellows.

  2. I recently purchased a house with a stand-by Gen set. Battery was U/s so purchased new battery. As main power is pretty good gen set does not get to run very often.

I ran it about 6 weeks after new battery fitted and again a few weeks after.

Due lack of use new battery is dead. Have had on charger 24 hours set MIN charge and battery not accepting charge. Set on MAX 24 hours still not accepting charge.

Battery type is:FB Premium MF sealed 12 volt.

Any tricks available to solve issue or do I buy another one??

  3. If you and your wife decide to purchase property in Thailand please consider:

    Select the property.

Inbound funds be sure to give the property details i.e address etc on the fund transfer document.

When done get a letter from the bank confirming the funds are for the purchase of a specific property.

Later if you wish to sell the property you will be able to repatriate the funds out of Thailand equal to the amount you brought in.

  4. Thanks Guys, good to know it is available.

    Trans Am,

The transmission is a 5 speed Benz sealed for life unit in XKR and also NA V8 also in another Jag.

Jag independant specialists say the oil should be changed and the Liquid Moly also German made is the best for the job. Other oils do work but have been known to lead to problems.

It is a transmission oil, not an additive.

  5. Naam, I have a 96 Jag and managed to get comprehensive insurance to 80% of the cars insured value. Cannot remember the company but am back Thailand last week june and will advise you then. Insurance is due when I return so will also advise if any changes such as a reduction in the insured percentage.

Get a classic and enjoy it. If looked after and serviced properly will give you a lot of enjoyment and looking after it is most of the fun.

Be nice to know what you are thinking of as I check most sites daily to see whats new.

  6. Yes Cha am is good. Driving from HH turn right at the lights and then left at the beach and follow the road to the end of the seal.

Continue on gravel road and there are fresh seafood places both sides. I have only been there for lunch but three times sensational food.

Also nice place on the beach behind "Boat house", this is out near Palm Hills, you may find tricky to find but worth it.

  7. You may remember a couple of years ago I was searching for a Jaguar, which I found in mint with 32k on the clock.

Since then I have been lucky enough to import to PNG from Japan a XKR and XJR with plans to bring to Thailand. For obvious reasons this is now discounted and I will sell here.

So the quest for similar performance is to buy XKR/JR in Thailand or XK8 for much less and implant preferably LS3 with 4L60E tranny.

This should give the twist power I want and just the right noise.

Bit of a dream at this stage but looking into it anyway. There is a kit available for this conversion from the US which makes it a simple conversion.

    So there biggrin.png

  8. Thank you fellas, I have direction. Looks like Veerasiam should do the trick.

Woodsie, is your inference that the products are cheap or expensive (dont mind paying for quality)??.

Most of the stuff I will be buying needs to be good/reasonable quality and most items are one time purchase only.

    Thanks your help guys.

  9. I wish to do a bit of tinkering on my car and require some equipment to do so. I live in Hua Hin and availability seems non existant in this area.

Where in BKK would you suggest I go to purchase, Trolley Jack, Car Stands, Compressor, Rattle Gun and various other mechanical tools.

    Cheers
