Amazing that the Japanese tourist's gun was still in the bag. Pretty cool how it go back there. Will ballistics show his gun was recently fired? Will he have gsr on his hands?
Never ever argue too much with a Thai. Most frequent travelers to the Kingdom have learned this quickly.
End result the police will determine it was a dual suicide attempt and the one that lived will try to kill himself when he has another chance.

If he is farang it will be judged a suicide.
But don't understand how a human could do that to another person.

I agree with englishinsiam. So you would be ok if the guy was beaten up for being with 20 something woman. Maybe not her doing the beating but her boyfriend beating up the guy.
For me staying in good shape to be able to defend myself would be the most important thing to do. Face it Pattaya ruddy and run down old unfit drunks and dreggs that the west has to offer. The up side of this is that I now take better care of myself (diet and working out) so that I don't end up like the typical Pattaya Farang.

Maybe Thaicom 5 did not pay their comcast bill.

I don't go to Thailand for western culture. If I wanted that, I would stay home and not travel there. Who cares what they think. The one thing that I like about Thailand is that farang can pretty much do what they want and the Thai's don't care. Or if the do, who knows what they are thinking and I really don't care.

Maybe just maybe there are too many tuk-tuks on the island..LOL. They were bad before the Tsunami and it was rumored that government was going to limit their return.. Last time I was there in 08 they were even worse. It was not enjoyable when walking down the street and everyone ask "want tuk tuk". It took all my will not to scream " why the hell would I ride with you when I said no to the last 50 of you <profanity removed>". I was there for holiday, if I want to be stressed I might as well be at home working and making money. In my opinion they should make them like the baht buses in Pattaya. At least one can learn to tune out the horn when they beep every 100 feet.
The Tuk Tuk drivers have kept me from coming back. So that equals about 3 trips per year or about 12 visits.

Just hope not to be in country when a 6-7 lights off. I don't think there will be many safe places in BKK or Pattaya. I always wondered how many fault lines ran through Thailand. Looks to be a lot more than I would have imagined. They have almost the same amount as we have here in California.

Makes me think twice about living there full time. I agree with an earlier post, live in a condo building-but then I would worry about being forced out the window 16 floors up. I go to Pattaya 2-3 times a year but now I think it might be time to find somewhere else. Seems the news gets worse and worse. I really hate to see what happens to the entire region after the China real estate bubble bursts. Will it be 1998 all over again. Just with how bad it is there with the economy in the toilet, I hate to see what happens when the housing bubble in Thailand when it goes south right after the Chinese economy. Look at all the empty condo buildings in BKK and Pattaya. Just so thoughts to ponder. I hope they don't come true because I would still like to live there full time.

When will the tourist learn? Bar fine a girl from the coconut bar and have her go with you to the jet ski scam artist. They won't try to jack you with a Thai at your side. 500 baht to her or thousands of baht the the scam artists. You're happy, she is happy and the jet ski scum bag only makes a fair wage.

If he stopped at 70M that is more than 2M US. I think I could learn to live on something like that. Take your time and burn through if for a few years and repeat when needed.
I just earn my the slow way...go to work everyday when I am at home.
One of the best lines I have ever heard. "If you want a small fortune in Thailand, start with a large one".
