I have a lawyer back in the UK who has my will, it is already paid for, so when I die, my wife already has everything required, so when I meet my maker, she only has to contact my lawyer, and he should sort everything out.

Thats great news for assets in the UK, but it won't cover assets you own in Thailand.

    In my experience of course.

    Regards BW.

  2. Hi.

Please read my earlier post. Ive been through this personally with 3 Thai widows whose husbands had a Thai Will.

    Banks involved, BBL,Krunsri and SCB.

They will only release assets with Letters of Administration issued by a Thai Court naming the Administrator / beneficiary. Thai will only covers assets in Thailand, you will need a seperate Will in any Country where you have assets.

Dont listen to people guessing, do your wife a favour, see a Thai Lawyer and make a Will.

    Regards BW.

  3. Hi.

As of 2 weeks ago, Foreign Currency in cash is unlimited, but amounts over the equivalent of USD $20,000 must be reported on a Foreign Currency Declaration Form to the Thai Customs Department.

Forms are available on the 4th floor (top) at the extreme right as you walk in to the terminal at Suvarnabhum Airport, you must fill in 2 identical copies, they keep one copy, enter details in the ledger book, you keep the other copy to show if required at screening area, the Customs officer has no interest in seeing or counting the cash. Thai Baht limited to 50,000 if flying to Europe or non adjoining Countries. Ive carried large amounts 3 times this year using the above, be sure to also report when you entry destination Country. Hope this helps.

    Regards BW.

  4. Hi.

You can simply come to Thailand, withdraw as much as you like in cash, change the Thai Baht into Pounds or other foreign currency at a licenced money changer carry the Foreign currency back home with you, just declare to Customs at the airport Bangkok you are carrying in excess of the equvelant of $20,000 USD, Fill in the declaration form x 2, no other paperwork required, better rate than the banks, just declare it on entry to the UK. If its clean money you have nothing to fear.

Report is made at Customs desk 4th floor Suvanabhumi.

Ive done it several times not a problem.

    Big Willy.

If you re-read my posts I never said Open Radical Prostatectomy had no pain, that is the reason I am booked for the Da Vinci method here in Thailand. What I was saying is the free Radical Open procedure is available to me free of charge in Australia via Medicare, but I am a softy and would rather pay for the Da Vinci method here as there is most likely less pain with Da Vinci.

I agree with your comments re experience of the surgeon, and thanks for the price guide from Dr Nualyong, who I believe is one of the best in Thailand.

    Regards BW.

  12. India sounds interesting, I agree, with regards to pricing here in Thailand, I think the major Hospitals are gouging us ferang's. I just cant see how they can justify some costs. Really I will get it done here as it is convenient,I did consider doing the op in Australia, I could get free treatment on Medicare, but the Da Vinci is not an option, only Open Radical, I am a softy, and don't like pain.

  13. ......., the best solution is prostate removal utilizing the DaVinci machine robotic surgery. A one inch cut and blood loss is less than a teaspoon of blood, and you're up and around in a few days. The knife method of operation requires 2 liters of blood, a eight inch cut, and 6 months or more of full recovery. Check Dr. Jay Yew website as he's one of the top guys in the US on this. I think there are 2 hospitals here in Thailand that bought this DaVinci machine. It really expensive, somewhere over 2million $ US. The hospital where the King is and one other one.

Good news, RAM in Chiang Mai has such a DaVinci robot. And Dr. Bannakij is able to use it. Estimated costs in such a case ~ 400.000 to 450.000 THB (Dr. Bannakij).

That seems quite reasonable pricing to me, I just got a quote for Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy in Bumrungrad, 650 to 750,000Baht price includes 1 night ICU,5 nights in the ward.

    Regards BW

Yes I have had quotes such as these, was three days in hospital etc.for less than one tenth of these prices. Looking at new procedure before I commit to anything ,but in India

    Hi.

It seems as of now for Radical Prostatectomy there are 3 Da Vinci Robotic machines in Thailand, one in Chang Mai, one in Chulalungkorn Hospital in Bangkok and the other is i Mahidol Hospital Bangkok, I am booked in Mahidol early August so I will post here after the procedure, I wasn't impressed with Chulalungkorn much like one would expect in an old WW2 Movie, I managed to secure an excellent surgeon via the (Surgical Premium Clinic) at Mahidol and feel very much at ease with the facilities, Doctor and staff. I would be a bit concerned in India with superbugs, and they could probably sneak a kidney out too while your under! Just out of interest, I did contact some clinics in Australia and Private care including Doctors fee'e theater fees, came in at 29,000AUD. MRI scan extra 400.00AUD.

Bumrungrad charged 41,000Bt for the Endorectal MRI which I thought was expensive, even by Australian prices. Good luck with your search!

    Regards BW

    wailee

Here are 2 photos of the kit I bought at Fascinos, you make your own mind up who is giving you the right info here.Cost 2,000Bt as you can see bye for now

    Regards BW

Thanks to Harrry and Big Willy for the replies. The only problem is that you both say quite different replies. Perhaps it's worth clarifying further what I want. It is not a diving requirement but medical oxygen. My equipment will be supplied complete with a regulator (actually a paediatric regulator) and he gives me the choice of obtaining from him, either device A or B in my picture, for connection to my cylinder that I will need to purchase in Thailand.

According to BIg Willy, you bought the same as type A at Fascino already. This sounds more promising, but I'm hestitant that Harrry says otherwise.

I just need to be sure, but thanks for all the replies!

  16. TOQ.

Hi, if you go along north Pattaya Rd heading from Sukhumvit towards Fascino pharmacy there is a shop on your left about 50m before Fascino, the shop is full of Aircon units and they are a distributor for all kinds of bottled gas, they will rent you a bottle and they re-fill with Oxygen as you wait, as I recall it was about 200Bt for a refill, not sure if they also rent the trolley, you can buy the full unit including regulator and mask from Fascino about 5,000Bt as I recall, Fascino do not rent only sell. If you get stuck for a regulator and mask let me know, I have one as new cost 2K its your for 1K if you want it.

    Regards BW

THe tanks you mention are not those in the picture. They are heavy iron ones not aluminium. THe aluminium tanks by themselves cost about 6000 baht. Trolleys about 2500 baht and the regulator shown about 2000.

    harry.

The fact is the shop I mentioned have more than you can see at the front of the shop, there is a large bank of heavy iron bottles near the front of the shop that is the filling station, believe it or not they have the Medical Oxygen bottles too, I should know they bought mine from me used, which I bought from Fascino 1 month prior, as Fascino wrongly advised me you cant rent anywhere in Pattaya! obviously wanted to sell me the lot, as I said before total was about 5K no trolley.
