I have a lawyer back in the UK who has my will, it is already paid for, so when I die, my wife already has everything required, so when I meet my maker, she only has to contact my lawyer, and he should sort everything out.
Thats great news for assets in the UK, but it won't cover assets you own in Thailand.
In my experience of course.

Hi.
Please read my earlier post. Ive been through this personally with 3 Thai widows whose husbands had a Thai Will.
Banks involved, BBL,Krunsri and SCB.
They will only release assets with Letters of Administration issued by a Thai Court naming the Administrator / beneficiary. Thai will only covers assets in Thailand, you will need a seperate Will in any Country where you have assets.
Dont listen to people guessing, do your wife a favour, see a Thai Lawyer and make a Will.

Probate. Full stop.
Any Bank in Thailand wont even discuss it without Letters of Administration, from Thai Court.
See a Lawyer.

Maybe the Brits should stop being one of Americas puppets and let Julian Assange walk too. All hands on deck to fight the bush fires.

I have to admit I'm shitting bricks
Please someone. Where can I get my daughters documents translated in Pattaya tomorrow
Frankybear.
Soi Post Office Pattaya, enter Soi from Beach end Translation and Law office about 50 meters up on the right, I have used translations from there in UK, Isle of Mann, and Australia no problems, ask for it to be Certified as a true copy.
Office number is 038710612.
Good luck BW

If you re-read my posts I never said Open Radical Prostatectomy had no pain, that is the reason I am booked for the Da Vinci method here in Thailand. What I was saying is the free Radical Open procedure is available to me free of charge in Australia via Medicare, but I am a softy and would rather pay for the Da Vinci method here as there is most likely less pain with Da Vinci.
I agree with your comments re experience of the surgeon, and thanks for the price guide from Dr Nualyong, who I believe is one of the best in Thailand.

India sounds interesting, I agree, with regards to pricing here in Thailand, I think the major Hospitals are gouging us ferang's. I just cant see how they can justify some costs. Really I will get it done here as it is convenient,I did consider doing the op in Australia, I could get free treatment on Medicare, but the Da Vinci is not an option, only Open Radical, I am a softy, and don't like pain.

......., the best solution is prostate removal utilizing the DaVinci machine robotic surgery. A one inch cut and blood loss is less than a teaspoon of blood, and you're up and around in a few days. The knife method of operation requires 2 liters of blood, a eight inch cut, and 6 months or more of full recovery. Check Dr. Jay Yew website as he's one of the top guys in the US on this. I think there are 2 hospitals here in Thailand that bought this DaVinci machine. It really expensive, somewhere over 2million $ US. The hospital where the King is and one other one.
Good news, RAM in Chiang Mai has such a DaVinci robot. And Dr. Bannakij is able to use it. Estimated costs in such a case ~ 400.000 to 450.000 THB (Dr. Bannakij).
That seems quite reasonable pricing to me, I just got a quote for Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy in Bumrungrad, 650 to 750,000Baht price includes 1 night ICU,5 nights in the ward.
Regards BW
Yes I have had quotes such as these, was three days in hospital etc.for less than one tenth of these prices. Looking at new procedure before I commit to anything ,but in India
Loppylugs1.
Hi.
It seems as of now for Radical Prostatectomy there are 3 Da Vinci Robotic machines in Thailand, one in Chang Mai, one in Chulalungkorn Hospital in Bangkok and the other is i Mahidol Hospital Bangkok, I am booked in Mahidol early August so I will post here after the procedure, I wasn't impressed with Chulalungkorn much like one would expect in an old WW2 Movie, I managed to secure an excellent surgeon via the (Surgical Premium Clinic) at Mahidol and feel very much at ease with the facilities, Doctor and staff. I would be a bit concerned in India with superbugs, and they could probably sneak a kidney out too while your under! Just out of interest, I did contact some clinics in Australia and Private care including Doctors fee'e theater fees, came in at 29,000AUD. MRI scan extra 400.00AUD.
Bumrungrad charged 41,000Bt for the Endorectal MRI which I thought was expensive, even by Australian prices. Good luck with your search!

I Bought a new Garmin at Dick Smiths in March this year, $99.95 maps were fine. Plus had all the Red light camera locations.
Good buy considering the fines for missing a red light or speed cam.

Here are 2 photos of the kit I bought at Fascinos, you make your own mind up who is giving you the right info here.Cost 2,000Bt as you can see bye for now

Thanks to Harrry and Big Willy for the replies. The only problem is that you both say quite different replies. Perhaps it's worth clarifying further what I want. It is not a diving requirement but medical oxygen. My equipment will be supplied complete with a regulator (actually a paediatric regulator) and he gives me the choice of obtaining from him, either device A or B in my picture, for connection to my cylinder that I will need to purchase in Thailand.
According to BIg Willy, you bought the same as type A at Fascino already. This sounds more promising, but I'm hestitant that Harrry says otherwise.
I just need to be sure, but thanks for all the replies!

Definately A , I bought the same one at Fascino Pattaya 12 months ago and still have it. Fits the medical oxygen bottle purchased at Fascino also. Regulator valve mask etc cost 2,000Baht.

Hi just did 2 UK passport renewal applications on Friday May 2 also witnessed 3 others being renewed, none were physically cancelled or cut at the Trendy office, it seems about a 7 day lag till the passport is actually electronically cancelled in the UK, suppose the cutting is done after you pick up the new one at Trendy. You should be fine to fly domestic, I have used my Thai D Licence for id on domestic flights.
Hope that helps.

Today i went to the Trendy passport office to ask some questions, when the lift door opened the complete area was jam packed and it was about four rows deep at the reception. I then thought FTS and left the building.
Just checking if anyone who has two British passports has applied to renew one of their passports. When i had one of my two passports renewed at Hong Kong they asked for a copy of a letter from my employer why i need to have two passports and all was good.
After checking the previous posts here the passport staff are not very switched on so it would be interesting to hear from another person who has went through this application.
Hi Isan Ferang.
I was at Trendy yesterday May 2nd too, 3.00pm appointment, It was as you say jam packed, seems they were double booked as the Office was newly opened they actually made appointments for May 1st, someone not realizing the 1st of May was a holiday and the VFS Offices would be closed.
We did however wait, they were 1 hour behind with appointments.
I have no Idea about your question with the 2 passport issues, but would like to add a few things here for the benefit of any TV members doing a renewal.
The Trendy Building is about 100m down Soi 13 on your right when entering from Sukhumvit Rd.
Car parking is available in the building, just drive past the main Trendy entry and it is on your right (the parking attendant will issue you a ticket, take it with you) .
There is photocopy and Photo office on your right as you enter the Lobby from Soi 13.
Make sure you copy every page of the Passport from cover to cover, even the back page with the micro chip, in colour.
For supporting documents proof of applicants address, table "A" they did accept a Translation of Thai ID card from Thai to English showing the address of the applicant, in this case both applicants were dual nationals.
I wouldn't recommend turning up without an appointment as they did have a list and I had to point out our time and place on the list I did also take a printout of the email confirming the appointment date and time. Toilets are available on the 28th floor, no photocopy machine though. The lady at desk 11 was very helpful and obviously over worked, we were told to expect about 4-5 weeks before the passport would be back at Trendy, then they will call or e-mail to come and pick up, bringing the expiring Passport as proof of ID.
When your done with the process, pop down to the ground floor to Tom and Toms Coffee shop, de-stress and have a nice cuppa, get the cashier at Tom & Tom's to stamp your parking ticket and that was enough to satisfy the parking attendant, " free". This was our experience.
I hope its not that chaotic every day! just bear in mind the same Office does, PP renewals for the UK, Visas to UK, and Visas for Australia too, there were well over 100 persons inside beyond security.
Now the wait to see if anything else is required from the processing dept in the UK.
Regards BW.

Hi celso.
Just curious, what did you use from Table A "supporting documents" to prove residential address?
I went up today to the British Embassy hoping they would provide a Proof of residential address form, to accompany the Passport renewal applications for 1 child and one adult (age 16), the Embassy declined as the officer in Consular services said that letter was only for use in Thailand and thus no good to go in with a PP renewal, as both applicants have dual Nationality, the Consular official suggested a Certified copy, translated to English of the Household Book showing both boys Thai residential address, along with a Certified translation of their Thai ID cards "should" be suffice to verify residential address. I guess we will see on Friday as we have an appointment at Trendy. That by the way is over 8K Baht for Translations, Certification and Notary stamps.
What a shambles indeed. Most of the documents suggested in Table "A" are totally irrelevant for most of us living in Thailand. After phone calls to the Embassy" refer to website", E-Mails to VFS Bangkok, and the UK no answers.
I am fortunate as I hold dual Nationality also, ie British and Australian, I will not be renewing my British Passport anymore as the Aussie one is a breeze to renew with extremely helpful consular staff. The British Embassy is an Embarrassment not an Embassy.
Thanks "rant over" BW.

Hi to all, Just a comment I was at the scene just after all the injured had left, interestingly among the carnage and debris scattered on the roadside was was a box of test strips, needles and equipment for measuring blood glucose levels, diabetic maybe?
What ever happened it was a truly tragic scene and the vehicle was obviously out of control with lots of speed. I hope the injured make a quick and full recovery. Didn't see any forensic types gathering evidence. Sad.

TMB Bank Quick interest of 3% on a 12 month fixed term interest paid in advance, within 7 days of opening the account! good deal in my book.
Or 2.75% interest in the No Fixed account, funds available at call. Ideal for visa moneys, relatively high interest and ok for Immigration.
