The men responsible for attacking Ms Maiwadee will be prosecuted, V/Gov Weerawat said.
Of course all Thai men look alike and all are innocent according to the police.
And the restaurant owner pays the police for protection.
Some shop owners hire off duty police to protect their stores.
Just more of the same old Thailand

If you believe in Democracy then the Reds have every right to hold a rally. Even if you do not agree with their politics, or hate their leaders, you should agree with a democratic process and that does not include jail without trial or violence against the protesters.

Out of the 4,244 arrested in the headlines, only 149 of them were arrested in the first article and 1,135 quoted as being arrested in the second article. What happened to the other 3,000+ ? A little hyperbole here.

In what name is your Chinese Visa? You will HAVE] to use that passport to enter China.
In what name is your airline ticket? You will HAVE to present the passport in that name to the airline to get a boarding pass.
What passport did you use to enter Thailand? Use that passport to exit Thailand.
If there is a problem it will be on exit control. That is when you show them the other passport.

If found to be authentic I bet some will be missing when returned to the Brit.

Having been in (and out) of the major airports in Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Samui, Chiang Mia) I have never had a problem with the stores. I just stay out of all of them. I can buy most stuff cheaper in town than I can in the airports, except for booze. And that is cheaper in California in the US in my local liquor store.
I only ever had one taxi problem in SVN and when he did not turn on the meter I just yelled stop and started to get out. He changed his mind right then and there.

So the farmers end up as serfs? What are they now when the farms are owned by the 6 richest families in Thailand?

You complain about taxis and parking but the taxis are not parking. They may contribute to the congestion but not to the parking problem.

If they catch you with using the second passport your toast.
Is it worth your job and living in Thailand just to save 4 or 5 hours?

A British citizen by right of birth is always a British citizen; unless you choose to renounce it.
The British Government does not recognize renunciation if it is (was) forced by a foreign government. As an example when I became an American citizen I had to renounce my British citizenship. The British did not recognize this and I could apply for, and receive, a Brtish passpoert.
The Americans have since changed their policy.

If your daughter has dual citizenship she can enter the UK with no problem. You can:
Apply for a UK passport in her name with a copy of her birth certificate which you used to register her birth as a UK citizen
Or:
Add her to your passport.
Just go to a UK embassy or Consuls office.

"In France it is 25 Celcius, Raining. There bis better fish, better vegetables. prettier girls"
The last time I was in France (Sept 08 for two weeks) I could not find a pretty french girl. All the good looking ones were tourists.

To enter China (not Hong Kong or Macau) you need a visa AND the address of where you are staying.
No address NO ENTRY.
You can now discuss if China is a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th world country.

So I make 200,000 baht a month (I actually make more than that but I pay taxes to the US). Do I want to pay ATM fees on a lot of withdrawals? Or a big wire transfer fee?
-
There is a significant question that has not been addressed. If you are employed by an overseas company with no ties to Thailand what does your company use as an address for tax purposes? And to what country do they send the tax paid forms?
Can you set up a company in Macau (no income taxes) and then have the money transferred to Thailand?
There are limits to how much money you can bring into Thailand so how do you get your earnings into the country?

There is an inconsistent response on this forum between comments on the yellow "uprising" and the "red revolt". The army did nothing when the yellows occupied the government buildings and the airports. The yellows are a minority representing the rich in Bangkok. Where is the democracy? Thaksin did nothing that the others had done before him, and will do again and again, political corruption is a way of life in Thailand.

But isn't that a 15 day visa?
Better off to fly back to Bangkok (or Chiang Mai) and get a 30 VIA.
-
Thailand doesn't care how long you stay out of the country.
-
Given the pathetic 1% return on short term money today there is not much of a loss in having it in a Thai bank
-
You could fly back from Vientiane and this gats you a 30 VOA.

There are a bunch of hotels on the north end of Chaweng Beach.
Check

for prices and a map
I stay at the Natien Samui when we visit Samui.

It appears that everybody agrees that you can fly in from a country with a common border and get a 30 day VOA
What if I do a border run to Nong Khai and get an exit stamp, go up to Vientiane and fly back to Bangkok.
Do I get a 15 day or 30 day VOA.
Or do I need to pick a "sympathetic" immigration officer?

I am flying into Thailand, spending 4 days here and the flying to Laos. A week later I fly back into Thailand.
Do I then get 15 days visa on demand or do I keep my 30 days?

So its business as usual in Bangkok. And they could well have been policemen.
