Random Thai news. On the contrary to what many says it's not a trend, always been there in LOS, it's a hard country. I don't know how many times I've seen assaults on tourists in Thailand. It's many and most the times it's not near deadly, just bloody and very humiliating. Whenever i go to Thai for a while I know beforehand i will get the feeling that i will never return after a while of seeing farangs getting bottles smashed in their head by drunk girls, assaulted by gangs of 5-10 thai guys for less than no reason, yaba influenced people swinging knives for fun, policemen firing arms in their hunt for druggies etc.

But i always comes back, every time a little less naiv, a little bit less sensitive over things.

It's a third world country and vilence is integrated in the culture/system.

Agreed! I have thai friends who admit they think it´s ok with corruption! They just think it´s not ok if it´s to much!

This is so related to many swedish womens fascist-feminism! I know for a fact though thats it´s very "hip" to be an islamist among young muslims these days. The world has seen a rise in islamic fundamentalism and it´s global and should not be unawere of. This is a global trend. Some moderate muslims talk of extremists capturing their religion. If u where in egypt, iraq or iran in the 60-70´s there were a majority of girls walking around without hijab, people where friendly to and even looked up to the west. Now almost all girls ware hijab/niqab, to hate jews and the west is mainstream and international islamic terror is sympathized by many many muslims.

Every single man and people have the right to defend itself but it should be done righteously and in proportion to what is necessary.

Maybe you´re a thai in farang disguise, wandering around thaivisa, defending yourself. I don´t hate thais or thailand by any means but if you´re resonably aware of things u clearly see they often have a "we" and "them" thinking more extreme than any other i have ever seen and i´ve been to 40+ countries, and "they" are the higher ones, if u haven´t noticed u´r blind. Or u havent been in ur western home for centuries, forgotten how it was, not to mention the way it is now. we live in days of globalization and while EU and the rest of western civilization is opening up, even giving, at least equal opportunities to millions of foreigners every year u see asian countries and thai not the least doing the opposit. One of the reasons of the deep south conflict between muslims and "thais" is just due to that; not beeing able to give equal opportunities for "others" because thais are so best.

Not that i expect tourists to get equal opportunities just like that, it´s a totally different subject, but still this is a reminder of the general attitude and the harder and harder restricions to the "other" people that does´nt even put an economic pressure on the country but on the contrary boosting it!
